Federal officials investigate (six golden) eagle deaths at DWP wind farm
Los Angeles Times ^ | 8/3/11 | Louis Sahagun

Federal authorities are investigating the deaths of at least six golden eagles at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power's Pine Tree Wind Project in the Tehachapi Mountains, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Tuesday.

So far, no wind-energy company has been prosecuted by federal wildlife authorities in connection with the death of birds protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. A prosecution in the Pine Tree case could cause some rethinking and redesigning of this booming alternative energy source. Facilities elsewhere also have been under scrutiny, according to a federal official familiar with the investigations.

"Wind farms have been killing birds for decades and law enforcement has done nothing about it, so this investigation is long overdue," said Shawn Smallwood, an expert on raptor ecology and wind farms. "It's going to ruffle wind industry feathers across the country."

Wildlife Service spokeswoman Lois Grunwald declined to comment on what she described as "an ongoing law enforcement investigation regarding Pine Tree."

Joe Ramallo, a DWP spokesman, said, "We are very concerned about golden eagle mortalities that have occurred at Pine Tree. We have been working cooperatively and collaboratively with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the California Department of Fish and Game to investigate these incidents.

The true believers are completely denying that any of the recent evidence in any way invalidates the theory of man made global warming / climate change.

By killing off the eagles and other raptors the rodent population increases. If you have a windmill farm in your area you will have more rats and mice on your property.

Just wait - someone will get a $500 million grant to determine what to put on signs that birds will understand.

THEN $2 Trillion to erect signs warning the birds of the danger...

Where I live the wind farms are killing bats by the thousands, in fact, within two years they believe a few species local to our area will go extinct. There are sometimes 100’s dead at the base of just one when they check.

So , in the future history books will reveal how the windmills lead to the new great plague.

We need a new Pied Piper.

What MORON told Obama that buying Chinese-made windmills was ‘Stimulus’?

They don’t run at temps over 90 degrees, they could burn out in the heat...
They don’t run when it’s too COLD...
They don’t run if the wind is gusting over 38MPH...
They don’t run if there is no wind above 7MPH...
They don’t run in icing conditions...
They don’t run during storms...

The BEST Purdue University has been able to get out of the HUGE, federally-subsidized White County Wind Farm is LESS THAN 30% Efficiency..
30 FREAKIN’ PERCENT EFFICIENCY!!!

And they cannot provide CONSISTENT 60hz electricity to the grid.

These elected pirates simply put their finger to the wind and shovel our money to their friends in that direction.

They'll do it forever until a shovel is put to them.

Yeah, they have to investigate the REEEEEEEEEAAAAAALLLLY important things, like a bunch of worthless birds getting killed, because that’s a SERIOUS crime...

But....

Something minor and inconsequential like US FedGoon agencies with the full knowledge and blessing of the White House ad the DOJ smuggling American semi-auto firearms across the border into Mexico, and American law enforcement agents getting murdered by those same guns - all for the express purpose of undermining our Constitutional right -

Nah....Not so much.

Indeed, there is something very suspiciously prosecutorial and arbitrarily incriminalizing in that climate change so clean perfect and “professional” cult.

It’s like the worship of the gods of beauties in Greek times, but without the real worth of the Temples or the folkes in them.

These people are a joke.

At least back then, to belong to the Temples, was voluntary and a personal decision of who to ask for for help on this or that day, as God ordains it.

No, not with these know it all control freaks who only want to be prettied up as if they were the demigods of said temples, giving a rat’s arse to the actual cause, if it were there, Gore style.

We just drove from Northwest Florida to Salt Lake City. During the third day of the drive we were in Kansas and I saw an area with a whole bunch of these ugly windmills. A little while later, we passed an area that had several oil wells pumping away. I couldn’t help noting that the windmills dominated the landscape while the oil wells were almost unobtrusive. I also figured one of those oil wells probably produced as much or more energy than the whole batch of windmill monstrosities we had just passed.

Feral cat populations will increase, causing a greater incidence of Toxoplasma gondii transmitted to hmans, causing more mental illness and therfore more liberals. See how it works?

More of those unintended consequences? Or are they 'unexpected' consequences now?

If the choice was mine, I'd choose golden eagles and coal and nuke power plants over bird killing, money wasting, unsightly windmills.

But what would I know, I'm just a conservative for conservation who likes the cost effective use of our resources, including energy.
