Maybe he’ll die like Keith Carradine.

I understand what you are saying but I agree.. they need to target the women as well. For one thing, a child should be removed from his/her parents when they do this stuff. Give the child the opportunity to be loved by people who don’t hold them down for “sealing” or whatever they call it. I can’t stand it when “women” are suddenly seen as less culpable simply because they are female. It infuriates me.

If Utah is seriously considering using FLDS members as foster care then they better be ready to face many lawsuits. Is there any creditable proof of this? If so I would be willing to write & call because this is so out of the box that my mind is spinning. How dare they. What is going on here? More Whackadoodles!

It's condescending and degrading and just flat out wrong.

Absolutely! Most women that I know would DIE trying to save their child. The idea that these women willingly allowed and participated (held down) their own child to be raped is just beyond comprehension to me. Send a message to every man and woman that they will be held accountable. Grrr... this stuff infuriates me!

I just got home, and I’m so happy to hear that the jury convicted Warren Jeffs. I pray that all of his victims can somehow learn of the verdict and escape.

I hope so too. But I am sure the FLDS everything locked down tightly. Prayers for the children & young women. Hope that the mothers of these children revolt & stop allowing men to rape their children & toss their teenage sons out of the families.

I just don't understand why the FBI can't go in there, now that Jeffs was convicted, and question all the young girls. In my mind, they're nothing more than prisoners.

That is a disgusting stealth attempt to justify that disgusting behavior.

If you are pinning "a disgusting stealth attempt" on me, ma'am, you are much mistaken, if not acting with actual malice.

You're no stranger here and neither am I. It is no secret that I disagree strenuously with Mormon theology. I believe in orthodox evangelical theology. I believe Mormon theology to be bunk. Nor have I ever called for or condoned raping anyone or wished rape on anyone. (Even on prisoners, by the way, which sometimes causes me to be viewed as a wet blanket in riotous "drop the soap" discussions, as though somehow the encouragement of random rape at the hands of prison bullies were part of due process of law as envisioned in the Constitution.)

But it can't be denied that social and legal views are poised such that they could well evolve in the direction of removing many legal strictures involved today in the Jeffs situation. Such as being able to assume that if the partner in a sexual act is 12 years old, it is ipso facto rape. A restoration of old mores concerning plain old fornication would be quite welcome, but as it stands, fornication can no longer be banned and that has opened a giant can of worms.

You know, I couldn’t help but think you were making excuses in your earlier post, too—see #9. You went through much of the litany we see for fLDS apologists, “But living with multiple persons of the opposite (or any) sex, and privately calling it anything you want (e.g. “ham sandwich”) has been viewed as OK by the USSC itself.” and “In the meantime, it is modern ages that have placed taboos upon marriages of people who are at the age when marriage in biblical societies (including the Hebrews under the Mosaic law) would begin to become possible. That’s 12 for girls, 13 for boys.”

If you think about it, you make it easy for many of us to come this conclusion. In fact, I still think that way.

Parents can’t consent to marriage under 14, must have a judge’s order, and certainly can’t consent to polygamy.

It was not a smear. I merely quoted what YOU said, and drew my own conclusions.

You stand by your smear?

Grow up and own your own words.

You are doing everything you can to diminish this whole situation.

It is NOT OK to marry off girls that young. It is not normal and nobody has ever provided solid, substantial proof that it ever was.

Puberty takes time and a young teen's body is not mature enough to handle a pregnancy even if it is capable of procreating.

Just because someone is capable of doing something doesn't mean that it's acceptable, all right, or advisable to do it.

Kids that age are barely out of childhood. They are not mentally or emotionally ready to become parents even if the physical ability to do so exists.

All you are doing with your line of reasoning is contributing to the moral breakdown of society by arguing and parroting the liberal, early sexualization of children lines. You are siding with them on this issue. Your position is NOT a conservative one.
