WASHINGTON--President Obama celebrated his 50th birthday Thursday night with a celebrity-filled bash, as entertainer Chris Rock reported on his Twitter feed: "Just left the Presidents birthday party at the White House. Herbie Hancock played, Stevie Wonder sang and yes they did the electric slide. A great night."

Daughter Malia, 13 just arrived home from summer camp in time for the Rose Garden party as she was joined by her sister, Sasha, 10, First Lady Michelle, grandmother Marian Robinson and their godmother, Eleanor "Mama Kaye, Wilson," who flew to Washington from Chicago on Air Force One with Obama when he returned from his Thursday fund-raiser back home.

...”Obama’s team was not eager for pictures of the bash, coming as the stock market was plunging...”

My instincts tell me that the Obamas and their friends have been celebrating mass short-sellings of the markets these past few days. Is it unthinkable? I think not.

Tom Hanks really turned into a leftist suck-up.

He is really Steven Spielberg’s little lapdog.

Maybe if people stopped paying to see his movies?

The ubiquitous Tom Hanks, the actor who you can never forget is Tom Hanks. Surpassed only by Meryl Streep in being overused in movies and perhaps by Kim Kardashian in the enough already category. Is that a soldier? No, it's Tom Hanks, an actor. Is that a patriot? No, it's Tom Hanks, an actor. He's just a little tool, Obama's fool.

“He’s just a little tool, Obama’s fool. “

Good one!

I remember when he was caught saying something positive about Bush II. Spielberg “spanked” him and told him to straighten up or the Hollyweird Establishment wouldn’t use him anymore.

So many of these freaks - Ron Howard (”Opie” gone wrong), Martin Scorsese, Spielberg etc, are left-wing subversives.

"yes they did the electric slide"

Is that a dance, or was he talking about the stock market?

When Stevie sang “Peace has come to Zimbabwe” back in 1980, that was about enough of that little fool for me.

What fresh greens from the garden? Those are mainly spring and early summer crops.

Matt Groening got his number pretty well in "The Simpsons Movie" as a spokes-tool for a government plot to blow up Springfield and all its citizens.

They didn’t invite the illegal auntie from Kenya who lives in gov’t subsidized housing.

Heck...I didn't even think about Ol Auntie Zenotoxica (or whoever she is) getting slipped in the side door. She might be close enough for a limo to bring her up. Of course they wouldn't have her at the front table...lol.

(snip)

The evening began with chicken, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta and salad in the Rose Garden, and then four kinds of pie: apple, peach, huckleberry and cherry. At the end of the dinner, First Lady Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha presented the president with a cake, before the party moved indoors.

(snip)

Members of the cabinet on hand included Clinton, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, Education Secretary Arne Duncan, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and U.S. Trade Representative Ron Kirk.

From Capitol Hill: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her husband Paul, Democratic National Committee chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Former DNC chairman and Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine — now a Senate candidate — was there, as was Patrick Gaspard, the DNC’s executive director. Al Sharpton and UBS Investment Bank President Robert Wolf were also there.

Many White House and campaign staffers – past and present – were on hand, including former chief of staff and Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel and his successor Bill Daley, former press secretary Robert Gibbs, advisors Valerie Jarrett, David Plouffe and David Axelrod. Plus: Anita Dunn and Bob Bauer, Denis McDonough, Michael Strautmanis, Pete Rouse, Deputy Chief of Staff Alyssa Mastromonaco, Tina Tchen, White House chef Sam Kass, Julianna Smoot, Marty Nesbitt, Eric Whitaker, Linda Douglass, and many more.

Also on hand: plenty of Chicago and law school friends, and their kids.
