Moderate Republicans Lament GOP Shift Further Right
Newsmax / The Boston Globe ^ | 2011-07-27 | Caroline Rawls

Polls indicating that the Republican Party is moving further to the right are leaving a large faction of moderate Republicans feeling disenchanted with the party’s conservative drift, reports The Boston Globe.

In 2010, some of the GOP’s most outspoken leaders helped propel Republican candidates into power in the House. The tea party movement was influential in securing this takeover.

But Gallup poll findings to be released Friday indicate that the GOP’s conservative shift is isolating its moderate wing, the Globe reported. Self-described moderates made up almost one-third of the Republican Party just 10 years ago. Now, that fraction has dropped to less than one-fourth, according to the Globe.

Meanwhile, those identifying with the Republican Party are more conservative than ever. The percentage of Republicans who label themselves conservative has risen 10 points since 2002, from 62 to 72 percent.

The problem is that this 72 percent is divided and easily fooled by “moderates”.

Yes, but ol’ Barry later moved far to the left and sponsored the Nelson Rockefeller for VP nomination in 1974.

From the evidence at hand, I do believe the so called “moderates” in the Republican party would rather see Obama win four more years, in hopes that it will neutralize the conservative movement in the GOP. This is all about retention of power and influence and has nothing to do with the principles of the Republican Party.

I thought the teaparty was shrinking! That is what the NYTimes Poll stated.

'Moderate' Republicans tend to be fiscal conservatives, but social liberals.

Then they need to form their own third party, since they aren't actually one or the other.

Demcrat party for Liberal/Liberal, RINO party for Liberal/Conservative, Republican party for Conservative/Conservative.

The honest, obvious thing for them to do is leave.

.... Gallup poll findings to be released Friday indicate that the GOP’s conservative shift is isolating its moderate wing ....

Meaning that the party is finally moving BACK from where it was just a few shorts years ago. This item tells me that all the while the liberal to moderate RINO tale of the GOP dog that was wagging the conservative dog over the past decade or two and always told the conservatives that they must do all the compromising now find themselves more and more back on the outside looking in and they continue to thumb their nose at the conservatives.

Too bad is about all I can say, better get over it. We tried it your way and you really screwed the pooch when you had your undeserved turn at the wheel. The shoe is switching back to the other foot again and you all had better get used to it or find it protruding out of one your dark orifices.

A "moderate" Republican is a Democrat.

Most started out as a Democrat. Let them go back to their rat infested dirty sinking ship once again.

The Moosecowski family were at the heart of the Rino Republican corruption in Alaska who were deep in bed with many Dems. Probably still are but we’re in Montana now so our ears are no longer pressed to the tundra.

[ in bed with many Dems. Probably still are ]

No doubt this is true.. She stole the election from Joe Miller when democrats voted for her instead of their candidate.. who couldn’t win anyway..

Brilliant really.. but it does expose her as a malefactor..
Corrupt up to her eyebrows.. as was and still is her father..
