Out of nowhere, a kid punched me in the side of the head through my open window. One blind swing, and he ran away.
At the same time, a youth attacked a car two in front of us. He broke the driver-side window, kicked the car and reached inside. The car pulled out to escape the attack. The car in front of me then pulled forward and hesitated. Worried that the mob might come around to the passenger side of my car and attack my wife, I pulled around the car in front of me, crossed over lanes and turned onto a freeway ramp to make sure we were out of there.

I didn’t want to fall victim to the stereotypical “roll up your windows” mentality, and unfortunately I chose the wrong time to believe in people.

This, even when the group of yoots was visibly acting not like a bunch of tourists but a gang! Weep bitterly if you must at the madness of humanity, wish all you want that you could love some sense into them, but DO shut those windows. They might kill you and then where would your family be?
I disagree with his remedy. I think I'd have been more inclined to swing around the block, pull out my glock, and clean the perp's clock. Poetic justice.

Let me guess. This idiot probably has signed one of the recall petitions because his sympathy lies with the Senators who flee bagged it to Illinois and hid from their duties. Most likely he wants to recall our Governor too.
I suppose since this was consensual between them, they can’t complain about what they got. Surely not all nonblack people there in similar circumstances were as open. And why dash off in such a lane weaving rush if they really wanted to luv the poor yoots right on the spot?
Sane society cannot be treated as a game of who’s the biggest bully, that’s for sure, but being aimless, waffling, unassertive suckers with nothing worth fighting to protect is no prize either.
I checked out several of the articles about the wilding at the fair, and none of them is accepting comments. Why could that be?

Trying desperately to squelch the facts on the ground, which is that this was close to a race riot, and it wasn’t ginned up by white community organizers either hint hint. I wonder, maybe hoping that black humanity in Milwaukee hasn’t yet let itself totally go south, if there were specific (human) rabble rousers behind the attacks. Rabble rousers that got those people to the fair in the first place, when they would not have otherwise bothered mixing with white rednecks.
Curiouser and curiouser. Now we will soon learn that the fair had a rap exhibit?

Maybe he could put a sign outside of his house that says - “Come here. We’re sensitive to your plight.”

Why didn't he open his doors and invite a bunch of the thugs in, take them back to his house, and have a discussion with them about their troubles. And when that was over, he could let them take everything they could carry from his house (reparations, ya know) and he would drive them home. Then next weekend, he and his wife would go to their neighborhood for a cookout.
IMO, the parts about feeling “sad” and wanting to cuddle the kid were embellishments meant to reestablish his PC cred for even thinking about rolling up his window.
Makes for a good, sensitive story tho.
