I only meant the Fox story, not the people on this thread, I have seen the media do this before as they ignore the airmen and others, and they did it on the raid against Osama.

That is pretty much every member of the Congress, Senate and The Courts, along with CIA, ATF, FBI, especially Chief Justice Roberts, and his private swearing in ceremony.

There is no need to suspect a conspiracy in this. It is what happens in wars like this. A lucky shot from an RPG and the chopper goes down.
We already know that our forces are honeycombed with spies, traitors and double agents but this most probably had nothing to do with any of them.

They had a local interpreter with them. That alone could be sufficient to either smuggle an explosive onboard, or to reveal the details of the flight so that Taliban fighters with RPGs can be positioned at mountain passes.
This is the classical "prisoner vs. guards" problem: the guards have to be watching the prisoner all the time and defeat every single attempt at escape, but the prisoner is always on alert for guards, and he only needs to get lucky once.
