These riots were about race. Why ignore the fact?
The Telegraph ^ | 8/7/2011

What colour is Mark Duggan? Mark Duggan is the man who was shot dead by the police on Thursday in Tottenham. The Tottenham riots last night were sparked when people protested his death. This morning, I first heard of the riots on the radio, then on the television. I read articles on the internet. But oddly, no one would say what colour Mark Duggan was. No one would say the unsayable, that the rioters were, I suspect on the whole, black. Then, finally, Toby Young’s Telegraph blog post on the riots was published. Is Toby Young the only journalist out there who will dare say that these riots are about race?

Still, one paper did carry a photo of Mr Duggan. When I saw the photo, it confirmed what I knew instinctively: black youths once again have set London alight.

Some of the black kids I used to teach will tell you that the riots are absolutely justified. A number of adults would agree with them. Everywhere I read that the protest was understandable because “people are very angry”.

I’d like to know what they’re angry about. Mark Duggan is dead. He was shot by the police in a shootout. Duggan was in a minicab and shots were fired from both the cab and the police elsewhere. A police officer was hurt in the incident and a bullet was found lodged in a police radio. Either Duggan was shooting at the police or the driver of the minicab was. Either Duggan was in the wrong place at the wrong time and his death is a terrible tragedy – he was caught in the crossfire – or he shot at the police and the police defended themselves. Whatever the explanation, the police did not kill this man in cold blood.

Thanks for the extensive quote! Obviously, not from the Guardian which will be filled with sympathy for the rioters.

Part of the problem in Great Britain - I think - is the general amnesia they have towards their former Empire. They continually claim American is an Empire but behave as if they have never had vast control over a large part of the third world.

To show how weird they can be, I was talking with a pal of mine who lives in South London about the joys of Indian food and how wonderful London restaurants are that serve it. He said sarcastically: “Well, that’s ‘cause all of ‘em live here.” And I said: “Actually, I think its the legacy of the British Raj.” I gently pressed him on the British influence in India and he refused to discuss it. It simply hadn’t occurred, as far as he was concerned! Weird!

If you look at enough photos of the rioters, there is the token white scum rioting/looting too.

There are a lot of long suffering Brits that detest what the UK has become with all this PC nonsense. Should the ruling class not get a handle on this mess their PC Bravo Sierra has created, then the crack down may resemble Northern Ireland during the “Time of Troubles”.

Maybe sending the Gurkhas up to the scene might just take care of business with the “yute” thugs. Have the Gurkhas kick some booty and take names and they will get the scum's attention. Perhaps those Khukuri combat knives need to be watered with thug blood?

It also might be useful to tell the local Religion of Peace followers that the Gurkhas can visit them also. You don't want the Gurkhas to come and visit you.

This will soon be a thing of the past in America.

America is following the example set by Obama’s mother. We are breeding a new race. A race of Obama’s.Look around you, their numbers are growing every day.

Thanks for posting that comment. This part in particular is right on the money.

The riots and looting have once again proven that multi-racial societies are inherently unstable, and shown that the state has a policy of appeasement toward third world colonies.

Liberal minds refuse to accept that cultures are made by people, and not the other way round. They delude themselves in thinking large numbers of Third Worlders living in Britain will “become” British and will leave the Third World behind. Culture is not a coat which is discarded and changed for a new one at the airport immigration desk...

Again, several of my British friends were furious about the Gurkhas receiving citizenship. They had dark skin, lol!

I will also tell you that these same British friends profess to be shocked at all the “racist” hostility directed at Prez Obama by evil American right wingers.

I realize this makes no sense but I’m just relating some of the strange thinking of some Brits I know. Some of these wacky views are also expressed in the comment sections of the Telegraph, The Daily Mail and the Guardian.

There is an element in Milwaukee that is very ready to riot. We have a large number of uneducated, unemployed youth in the African American community. It will take just one little incident to set them off.

The hilarious thing is that liberals sincerely believe that excluding minorities from the general moral system of society will somehow help them.

“Oh, you can riot and burn down your own neighborhoods, that´s fine, we´ll look the other way and blame the police or budget cuts”.

“Oh, you can run criminal gangs, sell drugs in your community and generally make life miserable for everyone around you. We´ll look the other way and blame “socioeconomic factors” and “racism” for your behavior.”

“Oh, feel free to engage in vile racial hatred and abuse, that´s fine, we understand that you only do that because of the prejudice of the majority”.

What do they think would happen if you suddenly made white people exempt from any standard of common decency?

Morality is how we make society function - if you exempt people from morality, you will over time turn them into enemies of society.

It´s all so depressingly predictable.

What’s the weather forecast for London. One thing I learned in the 70’s was that the only thing that ends rioting is a night of rainfall.

Well, that explains why London isn't known as a hotbed of black race riots.

Does political correctness to sanitize minorities' flaws actually deprive them of their humanity, and their ability to 'grow'?

I agree, I think absolutely it does.

Sounds like I need to add “barbed wire” to my list of precious metals - gold, silver, copper jacketed lead, and barbed wire...

One thing I learned in the 70’s was that the only thing that ends rioting is a night of rainfall.
Campus rioting in the 60s increased for years, spread from coast to coast and caused millions of dollars of damage.
The only thing that stopped it was the National Guard at Kent State.

And the difference between the UK and the US is that here, there is a Goetz and/or Korean shopkeeper moment coming, that their UK counterparts don’t have to worry about.
