You can filibuster all you want - but people aren’t FOOLED by it on this site.

We raise the gas tax by 25 cents per gallon and we don’t need ANY OF THIS CRAP...that easy, and a LEADER would do that, instead of getting in bed with his cronies.

“BobL and many of the other Perry haters are Palin fans. (and can’t seem to get over it)”

No, I’m simply a Perry-hater. After all, I’ve had to live under him for a DECADE.

and yes, I’ve said good things about Palin, and Bachmann, and Cain, and any other CONSERVATIVE that runs.

One poster's filibuster is another poster's facts for the voters.

Above, I addressed the "BIG BAD Three" hits taken against Perry.

The only people who can be "fooled" are the people who just take someone's word w/o finding out for themselves.

Fair enough.

Will you vote for him should he become the nominee?

It's a free country, move. A lot of people are coming to Texas and you can give them your unwanted spot. I hear there's a lot of room in NY, Michigan, CA, IL, NJ.....

Where will you move when Rick Perry becomes our next president?

“Well, he’s been a 3 time governor of a very Republican state who has overseen the 16th largest economy in the world, if that tells you anything.
In order to do that, he’s had to placate the ever growing Hispanic population here. It’s call *Political Reality*”

You got that, although PANDERING is a better term here.

“You will hear about the Dream Act he signed in 2001 which allowed children of illegals to attend Texas colleges with in-state rates. True”

Agree.

“You will hear he is an open borders advocate. False He has continuously asked for troops on our border and sent State troopers and Texas Rangers to back up local LEOs.”

Minor, even Democrat governors in California whine about the border. It’s the other stuff that matters, like making the state unfriendly to illegals. E-Verify isn’t even a word in his vocabulary and the Dream Act doesn’t help a bit either.

“You will hear he favor Mexican citizens over US ones. False”

Agree - instead he favors big business over the rest of Texans and the DESPERATELY want to keep their flow of illegals in the state - just as they did in California.

You will hear rich Republicans got him reelected. mostly true.

Agree.

“You will hear he’s proposed a plan to build several thousand miles of new roads making shipments from China and Mexico easier and more efficient. He did but, Texans didn’t like it so, he listened.”

It took a LOT OF SCREAMING for him to get the message. He may not have the luxury of doing something that STUPID as president and getting away with it.

“You will hear he wanted to force young girls to take a cervical cancer drug. He did try to mandate it but, again it was not well received and had a parental opt-out clause. He Listened.”

Again, it was a huge fight, and during that fight he essentially told opponents to GO TO HELL. It wasn’t until the legislature stopped it stone-cold, veto-proof, that he killed it. Even the Dems here couldn’t stomach that scheme (I guess some of them have young daughters too).
As to the opt-out clause, that was our standard opt-out clause for religious exceptions. Essentially, if you are typical Christian (or most other religions) you have to purger yourself and state that your religion does not permit immunizations. Something like 1000 people do that state-wide...it is joke in this case. The Perry guys wouldn’t have to be spending 80% of their time defending him on this if it had been opt-in...but he didn’t do that and wouldn’t change it.

“Otherwise he’s an actual, born and raised Texan from a modest background who serve in the USAF and graduated from TAMU.”

...graduated with a 2.16 GPA, just made it. I doubt he studied more than 10 minutes a week.

“BTW: He NEVER lost an election and I wouldn’t put this one past him.”

Anyone can beat Obama...midterms are simply referendums on the incumbent.

“BobL and many of the other Perry haters are Palin fans. (and can’t seem to get over it)”

Dealt with this separately.

Not going to happen.

Thanks, you do seem to be playing fair. I’ll still vote for him for prez, even if there’s a third party. We’re looking at the country ending as we know it, simply because a bunch of college radicals took power.

“One poster’s filibuster is another poster’s facts for the voters. “

It becomes a filibuster when you keep REPOSTING the same crap every time the governor’s office calls you. At least I write my stuff original each time (with a few exceptions that I always note).

“See ya Gov, it was nice not knowin’ ya.”

Hold on a second. Just because Gov. Perry endorsed Giuliani last time means that he’s automatically out?

Actually, IMO, his ties to Giuliani may be a strength, because, through him, he’ll be able to get support of people who won’t support the likes of Palin, Bachmann, etc.

From what I have observed, in order to win the GOP nomination this time around, we need a candidate who can appeal to and unite the three major wings of the GOP: (1) The GOP Establishment, (2) The Evangelicals and (3) The Tea Party.

I know we all don’t like the GOP Establishment, but we need their support to have a united front against Obama. Gov. Perry has connections to the highly influential and wealthy GOP donors and has tremendous fundraising capability, which will allow him to raise money very quickly and match the $1 billion that Obama plans on raising.

Gov. Perry also has connections to the Evangelical wing, which is very important, and he is conservative on all of the major social issues. And he was connected to the Tea Party before there was a Tea Party. He is strongly for states’ rights and the 10th Amendment.

The one-issue voting needs to stop. No candidate is perfect and I only remember one perfect person who has ever walked this earth.

I don’t work for the Perry campaign and I’m not going to get into a point by point debate with you. I’ve read everything you posted many times. If you think you’re original, you’re not. You’re repeating talking points, just like lots of folks do, on lots of subjects.

I support Palin, who I consider one of the greatest conservatives since Reagan.

I support Perry, who’s leadership ability on the economy I greatly respect, and who I do see as conservative enough to matter, and who did serve our country in the military.

Neither one is running for president yet.

If and when they both run, I’ll have a decision to make. For now, I’ll wait for either or both of them to declare.

I’ll take your talking points with a grain of salt. But thanks for posting them yet again. It’s always useful to have backups.

First off, I don't have to hold onto anything regarding the degenerate and FASCIST, Rooty-Julie-Annie.

Second -- 'You Betcha'© that Perry's automatically O-U-T for endorsing that gun-grabbing, Constitution trampling scum.

“You Betcha’© that Perry’s automatically O-U-T for endorsing that gun-grabbing, Constitution trampling scum.”

So, it’s ok to forgive Sarah Palin for endorsing John McCain in his 2010 Senate re-election campaign, but NOT ok to forgive Gov. Perry for endorsing Giuliani? I thought McCain and Giuliani were both RINOs...

A lot of Texas side-stepped McCain and/or supported Rudy in the last election. They remembered McCain's campaign tactics against Bush.

This is an interesting article about where Texas' campaign money and support was going in '08. Things just aren't back and white.

Texas donors on fence for 2008 election

And then there is this article today in NRO:

Aug 9, 2011 ……A Perry aide paraphrased how Perry explained his support for Giuliani this way: “We don’t agree on social issues, but Mayor Giuliani provided leadership during a time of crisis for the country.” To Perry, Giuliani was a figure who had stellar national-security credentials, a key issue for him.

After citing the importance of the War on Terror, Perry publicly explained his Giuliani endorsement by pointing to the former mayor of New York’s track record: “What I look for is results, and Rudy Giuliani is the individual who will give us the results that will make America safer, that will move our economy forward, that will put strict constructionists on the Supreme Court, that covers a host of issues that are important to me and I think a lot of my colleagues and Americans as well,” he enthusiastically told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade in fall, 2007.

In that interview, Perry brushed off the ideological differences between the two men. He noted that he and Giuliani had discussed some of the issues that divided them, and spent an “inordinate amount of time together over the course of the last six weeks talking about issues both on the phone and face to face.” Those discussion satisfied Perry. According to the Dallas Morning News, Perry told reporters that Giuliani had “assured [Perry] that in nominating Supreme Court justices and on other important issues, a Giuliani administration would serve the conservative cause.”……..

Despite the controversy, Perry did not downplay his endorsement but instead became a more vocal supporter of Giuliani. He campaigned for him in South Carolina, and that fall went on a four-day sweep through Iowa. Talking to voters at a roundtable in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Perry made his pitch for Giuliani by striking a pragmatic tone: “ You can have your purist candidate,” he argued. But “if they can’t win, you just wasted your time.” The voters were not convinced. A Dallas Morning News headline summed up Perry’s success in Iowa: “Perry Wins over Voters — But Not for Giuliani. Iowans Like Messenger More than His Message.” Source

He said that he supported the same positions as then president fox of mexico... before he said any of what you have posted... it was nothing but Bush's position so it is almost a given that Perry would follow Bush's lead... and by posting all of your supposed defense of this position... all that you have done is cast doubt on this career politician's honesty... who says polar opposite statements on certain hot button topics... so that he can be on the right side of the argument regardless of which side he needs to appear to support. His governance proves he is very friendly to open borders and HE SAID HE SUPORTED THE SAME POSITION AS fox... those are facts... now which position is his real position? You can't prove it and he has in his own words... cast doubt on his trustworthiness. This is of course my opinion and you should take it as such.

Maybe you can get Perry to actually come out with a strong statement against open borders and amnesty as of NOW... but he needs to refute his past statements and actions on this illegal invasion that is helping to kill our Republic.

Thanks for posting the very interesting and informative articles, and it is clear that people like Gov. Perry more than Giuliani.

I know most of us don’t agree with Giuliani on a lot of things, but he will absolutely be an asset in a Perry campaign..he’s got connections to a lot of wealthy New Yorkers and will likely get support from the Northeast.

You're flying off the walls. You? I don't know who you are or who you support, but I do know what I've seen here in Texas, what's happened with how the border has been neglected and that Perry has a very good understanding of what's going on and he has handled it in the best way possible. You can characterize it any which way you want but that will not change the stubborn facts of what is: Perry wants a secured border.
