Obama renews call for more stimulus
The Washington Times ^ | August 9, 2011 | Stephen Dinan

Posted on 08/09/2011 8:46:14 AM PDT by yoe

Pummeled by ghastly economic news, President Obama called Monday for more spending and extended tax cuts that he said would help stimulate the economy — but these also could deepen the deficit problems that helped the federal government earn its first-ever debt downgrade last week.

The president made the proposals as world stock market indexes were tumbling, and his remarks seemed designed to help the White House regain its political footing by resetting the congressional agenda next month. Mr. Obama said he wants the 2 percent payroll-tax cut extended into next year, the creation of an infrastructure bank by Congress to promote construction, and enhanced unemployment benefits extended for another year.

“If Congress fails to extend the payroll-tax cut and the unemployment-insurance benefits that I’ve called for, it could mean 1 million fewer jobs and half a percent less growth,” the president said from the White House, as stocks were in the midst of deep losses that would register a nearly 635-point drop in the Dow Jones industrial average. “This is something we can do immediately, something we can do as soon as Congress gets back.”

What part of “there is no more money” doesn’t this idiot understand?

Saul Alinski referred to the middle class as "The enemy." According to him, they used most of the earths resources, had the large political numbers to win elections, and had all the money, when totaled together.
The object is to force the middle class into government dependence. Onoma is doing just that. This has nothing to do with "the rich." They'll be the target later. Right now, the Marxists need the political numbers, and the donations, to achieve absolute power.
After that, there's no escape for the rich - or anyone else.

Just read Alinski's books. His goal is to organize the poor to destroy the middle class. He comes right out and admits it. The radical lefts agenda is right in front of every ones face. All they have to do is look.

The unemployed spending those checks, could be seen as stimulating the economy. That being said, if it was a good idea, unemployment would never be limited.

Federal stimulus does not work. I suppose it could if you had unlimited funds, but it doesn’t work that way. Sooner or later you have to return to the free market system or you go belly up.

Unemployment benefits were intended as a stop-gap that people actually paid for themselves. It was not intended to be long term welfare or a form of the dole.

If people get a free pay-check, what’s the incentive for them to get back into the system? Welfare for nothing, or a higher wage for real work? Welfare of course...

Unemployment should not be extended.

You know all this, but it needs to be said so others can read it.

It didn’t work last time and won’t work now.

lost the indie vote and is losing the young adult vote

If I may, let me relate a brief anecdote from this weekend, regarding a couple of young(er) adult white males.

I went out with a couple of guys over the weekend. One is a Dem, the other an independent who voted for Obama in '08. I'd characterize neither of them as "political", which is probably why we get along so well.

Talk *did* turn to politics, however, as we all agreed that our 401k's were taking a beating over the past couple of weeks.

The "independent" (and, more conservative one) said, approximately, "I voted for Obama because I thought he was different and I thought he could change the system. But it looks like he's just more of the same brand of BS politician. No way I vote for THAT again."

The Democrat agreed, though he said that he'd likely just stay home. "To hell with all of them." was his comment, approximately.

Me? I said nothing. They were doing such a good job of self-flagellation, that there was no more I could contribute.

I realize that this is just one anecdote. But I think that this kind of opinion shift is a lot more prevalent than any of us realize. Good news, IMHO.

"I would like to know how unemployment benefits stimulate the economy?"

It buys Votes for Democrats thus letting them keep their jobs.

Its that "Jobs created or saved" thing Obama talks about all the time...

Laz, you are right. I think the plan has always been: Get a person like Obama who is a sorry, narcissistic, pliable "wannabe" in the WH. Groom and control him to be the front man for their Socialistic government plans to destroy Capitalism in America. Make sure the puppet is dependent on them...keep him isolated...and see that he does as much damage in four years as possible to the US. Push him to sign bills and start programs that strangle business, increase entitlement funds and government subsidies, and chip away at America's freedoms and religious base.

The people pulling Obama's strings (Soros, Jarret, Ayers, Pelosi, et al) knew that Obama could not maintain popularity beyond four years by doing what he has been...so they are prepared to have him there for just one term. They just wanted him to do whatever detrimental he could as fast as he could. That is why all the "changes" have come so fast and unstopped.

From his first day Obama has been busy signing bills and mandates (written by the Socialist string pullers) that have strangled the taxpayers and businesses. Until...what the anti-American Socialist Obama king makers did not count on ... the grass roots uprising of the TEA movement. The TEA people protested and brought focused attention to the reckless spending and behavior of Obama and his Congressional cronies. That is why the Libs and Obama are trying so hard to discredit the Tea partiers and their influence. It will backfire.

There comes a point when citizens (even those who are Libs) look in their own empty pockets and want a president who offers solutions, not excuses. We are at that time.

Absolutely.

Rush just asked, what would he do differently if he were deliberately trying to destroy the economy.

The answer is obviously nothing.

That's because he IS trying to destroy it on purpose. And doing a darned good job of it, too.

None. That's the idea. Get them used to not working and being on welfare. It's forced upon them until it becomes a way of life. It increases the lefts voting power.
The homos do the same thing. In order to increase their numbers (because they can't breed), they indoctrinate other peoples children against their will. They force them to comply until it becomes a way of life as well.
Remember, Alinski (Obomas mentor) wanted to destroy the middle class.
Think about it. Who's REALLY being harmed the most by Oboma? The rich? Nope. He's collecting campaign contributions from them by the thousands. The poor? Nope. They're getting more new free handouts than ever before.
The middle class is getting devastated.

Slaughter Obamacare. Eliminate programs completely. Allow more domestic energy exploration. Make Democrats in the senate vote down every single proposal. The more Obama wags his finger about these “irresponsible” proposals, the deeper he sinks.

Rick Santelli Goes Off: “We’d Be BBB Without Tea Party!” (Video)

From the Video: Rick Santelli reacts to President Obama’s blame game when it comes to the downgrade of the United States of America’s credit rating. Santelli says that if it wasn’t for the tea party movement, America’s credit would have been downgraded to BBB.

He also responds to the argument that we have a revenue problem by comparing it to if his wife spending 30% more money then telling him to get 2 more jobs. Hat Tip Ed

I would like to tell two stories that I give testimony to that ObamaCare is enacted. Re:The death panels. An very young and active 84 year old woman was treated for severe back pain. An epidural steroid X 3 course of treatment was chosen to be the course of action for her horrendous back pain. The woman got TWO intervals injections and the only way this works long term is THREE. When she went for her third injection the doctor told her he could not give her the injection. He said some fancy wording that made the woman say WHAT I DID NOT THINK OBAMACARE WAS enacted yet! MD said yes and because of your age I cannot give you treatment. The woman otherwise healthy and active is now in horrible pain and her quality of life diminished.A DEATH PANEL DECIDED THIS.OBAMA has a fancy word for it but it is real I assure you.

How would YOU know, Obama? The only job you ever had was 2 weeks at Baskin Robbins, and you were fired.
