Obama renews call for more stimulus
The Washington Times ^ | August 9, 2011 | Stephen Dinan

Pummeled by ghastly economic news, President Obama called Monday for more spending and extended tax cuts that he said would help stimulate the economy — but these also could deepen the deficit problems that helped the federal government earn its first-ever debt downgrade last week.

The president made the proposals as world stock market indexes were tumbling, and his remarks seemed designed to help the White House regain its political footing by resetting the congressional agenda next month. Mr. Obama said he wants the 2 percent payroll-tax cut extended into next year, the creation of an infrastructure bank by Congress to promote construction, and enhanced unemployment benefits extended for another year.

“If Congress fails to extend the payroll-tax cut and the unemployment-insurance benefits that I’ve called for, it could mean 1 million fewer jobs and half a percent less growth,” the president said from the White House, as stocks were in the midst of deep losses that would register a nearly 635-point drop in the Dow Jones industrial average. “This is something we can do immediately, something we can do as soon as Congress gets back.”

I was so upset typing that I forgot the second ObamaCare is enacted and death panels are real; story. An elderly usually healthy active woman was diagnosed stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Her family has been told she may not be able to get hospice of pain meds because of a death panel saying it costs too much money she is old anyway.

ObamCare needs defunded immediately!

Eliminate programs completely.

We import millions of people from other countries each year to do the jobs the welfare recipients refuse to do. Stop the social hammock, and these people will work if they want to eat. Not only will it free the tax slaves and increase U.S. revenue for those who are truly in need ( not like those who are simply in want like most welfare recipients today) , it'll solve the immigration problem as well. It's a win win for everyone - except the freeloaders, but they'll learn eventually that nothing is "free."
Things will then be as they should be. Instead of sharing the wealth, we'll all be sharing the labor. Now THAT'S fair.

Liberals actually believe America does not have a debt crisis.

In the middle ages “bleeding” people was seen as a cure for everything, even anemia. If the patient took a turn for the worse? Well you just didn’t bleed them enough. So here’s Obama bleeding our anemic economy. What? It’s not working? More bleeding! More “stimulus!”

Isn't the payroll tax-cut being taken from social security? How does this not hurt social security?

I hate to admit it to myself but yes you are right.

He is trying to cause a full economic collapse so that he can work on creating the Socialist Utopia he so desires. We are already more than half way there as it is. One more stimulus would do the trick. My husband just informed me that Obama also wants to extend unemployment benefits. Unemployment benefits are now officially welfare checks.

Knowing this stuff is what causes me to have a nice full glass of wine every night so that I can get to sleep. Make that two glasses of wine for tonight!

God have mercy on us all!

I used to think this guys was simply dumb and/or insane.

I now believe his objective is the wholesale destruction of the nation in a fire of class warfare.

From their perspective THIS time it will work because they now have control of the one impediment that hindered all other attempts -- the USA.

From my perspective we were the only thing that prevented even the socialist experiments in western Europe from turning into North Koreas. We were the economic engine that made it all possible. The American consumer and ingenuity supported the whole globe at one time.

I envision two scenarios -- it either all collapses in short order and then we rebuild or we descend into generations of very bleak lives.

From the article -

“Those items together, however, come with a price tag that exceeds $100 billion in 2012 alone, and which, unless they were coupled with offsetting cuts or tax increases elsewhere, would dwarf the $7 billion in 2012 savings that it took Congress four months to wrangle in last week’s debt deal.”

So the solution to out of control spending - 0bama style - is more out of control spending.

There ya go, not funding SS and borrowing the money instead by extending/cutting the FICA payroll tax (cut) and paying people to not work will jump-start the economy and create millions of jobs, wait.. isnt that how we got here?.
And dont forget his ‘stimulus bank’ , They wipe out the tiny deficit savings that Obama just agreed to in his ‘small deal’ and add even more debt.
