Seems a little paranoid...
Things are bad but I don’t see rioting in the streets and marauder groups attacking homes.
I made it through the Rodney King riots which were much less than they appeared.
If it helps you to sleep with a loaded Glock, more power to ya.
But you give power to those who force you to change your lifestyle and thinking and remove you from the comfort you probably have.

Well he is doing something about it though.
If it becomes a new habit it won’t be as dangerous, it will be more natural. If things do get tougher there will be less risk of accidental problems.
Lots of people sleep with loaded handguns in arms reach. Long guns under the bed.

I agree that there is a 1 in a 1000 or 1 in 10,000 chance we could be hit, but if Mrs. Freedumb or the little Freedumbettes were injured/killed, would you forgive yourself?

As I posted else where:There is no greater disaster than to underestimate danger.
Underestimation can be fatal.
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Siege of AR-558 (#7.8) (1998) Quark: Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, Nephew. Theyre a wonderful, friendly people, as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts, deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers, put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people... will become as nasty and as violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You dont believe me? Look at those faces. Look in their eyes.
Now go watch some of the videos of the riots in the UK or the flash mobs here and look into their eyes.

I dont see rioting in the streets and marauder groups attacking homes. Are you aware of the increasing number of home invasions in good neighborhoods? People are followed home from upscale malls or just picked randomly in affluent neighborhoods. I am not talking about Detroit or Atlanta but mid-sized cities and their suburbs.
You probably won't read about it in your local newspaper. Just like you didn't read about the thousands of youths rioting over Memorial Day weekend.
Talk to the folks at your local gun shop or talk to a relative who works for a police department. Things are reaching the tipping point.

I like having many levels of response ready at all times. Nothing strange about it at all. Same as having a fire extinguisher and a hose around. May not need them but if I do and they aren’t handy, life becomes a bitch quickly.
