The London Riots: Symptom of a Larger Problem?
The Statesman Sentinel ^ | 11 August 2011 | Jason Weiser

As we have watched horrified over the last week as parts of London and several other major British cities burned, one unspoken thought was; Are we next? In between all the harrumphing by talking heads going on about either turning the water cannons on the little monsters, or how this is just a protest gone wrong is a simple point: The West has created a generation of feral children.

This phenomenon is not unique to Britain, or Europe, as the frustrated mayor of Philadelphia[1], Michael Nutter, demonstrated in the wake of a series of recent racially motivated “flash mobs”. Further similar incidents in Wisconsin and elsewhere[2] demonstrate that there is something wrong with the youth of the West, specifically, underprivileged youth who have been most affected by the “welfare-industrial” complex.

With job numbers and the DJIA sinking faster than the Edmund Fitzgerald (apologies to Gordon Lightfoot) and the President wishing he could govern from the Congressional Country Club, his core constituency is worse off than they were just three and half years ago. Yet, in many polls, much of this core constituency refuses to abandon him, even against their own self interest. If they knew what he and his fellow elites had done to them over the last forty years, they might reconsider that stance.

They suck at math, in general. I suck at math. I have a very good job in a call center because I’m good at a lot of other things, such as supporting my customers and my company. Most minorities don’t have this simple ethic. If you’re not good at math you’d better get good at something else, in the modern world.

Have read, and am not sure I agree, that Britain is that much lower than America or, say. France, in that England’s is a rabid, slavering, equal-opportunity, feral powderkeg, versus American and French self-segregation that often results in loosely-racially-based, violent urban nihilism.

Here's a 1:48 video by a self described morbidly obese Tennessee farmer. Tickled the hell out of me.

Symptom of the feminization of the West.

Mobs only listen to you when you show them that you're willing to get more violent than they will/can.

If the Brits don't get rid of that Home Secretary bitch, they're done.

Question: "The London Riots: Symptom of a Larger Problem?"

Answer: Yes.

Comment: The West is being hit with "both barrels:" (1) The ongoing Social Revolution(class warfare.) which started years ago; and, (2) The Third World invasion and on going conquest. The two seem to be joining forces.

Saw the video.

If the recent riots don’t destroy the whole logic of gun control, I don’t know what will. (Of course, the liberal media will blame everyone but the hoodlums.)

There’s a difference in the US and Britain as compared to how we’re meeting the problems. In the US, Obama is making us furious, so we are banding together, protesting, voting, nominating, and this time around, not waiting for the established Republicans to do something about it. We are out there, changing things without sitting back and relying on someone else to dirty their hands and put themselves in the firing line. We now have candidates that are truly grassroots and truly out there swinging their bat for America. We have social class, but it’s based on people like Ford, Carnegie, DuPont, basically working men who made something of themselves. In Britain it’s by birht and over there you can make billions, but still be excluded from the true elite.

In Britain, the people there are trained ot rely not just on welfare, but the government. They are not brought up to pull up thier bootstraps, they are taught to climb or stay in the social class they were born in. If their leadership doesn’t make things better, the country stays in the quagmire of the problems that develop. Rioting is just waht happens when there is no safety valve, like we have here in the US. In the US our safety valve is self reliance, voting, polls, and the fact that we have the ability to run for office, like anyone else. You don’t have to be born into a political family and actually, working your way up is considered a virtue more than a taint on your background.

Yep there are at least one generation if not two in America that more than 1/2 were raised in homes with no father and a Mom too busy to bother with them.

“There’s a difference in the US and Britain as compared to how we’re meeting the problems.”

Our business interests would put a lot of pressure to chase urban youth back onto their reservations; the business of America is business, and while the LA police response was pathetic at best, the riot occurred in an area where for the most part the only people there were our urban underclass and the foreigners that fed them from their small businesses. I’d love to see people try to rampage through NYC’s financial district like that; it would be over in minutes, not days.

I can understand both your views, and generally agree with both.

As said, one main, inherent, difference between American & British societies & culture, is the definition & quality of elitism. In Britain it is defined by social class through birthright (royalty or aristocracy), titles & therefore inherited money. In America it is determined by individualism, hard work, education and success based on money & titles earned (such as president or VP).

Therefore, one has much more of an *opportunity* to integrate & be rewarded (intrinsically & extrinsically) for it in the US than in Britain. Regardless of background, accent or social class one was born into. Though, racism & bad behaviour will always exist, no matter where or by whom.

It isn't about being born into a "political family" per se. But, the differences in the political system between the US (a Federal Constitutional Republic), and Britain (a Constitutional Monarchy & Parliamentary Democracy), reflect that sociocultural distinction . Nonetheless, in Britain polls are important & people vote too.

Though, I don't think one can easily change those ingrained sociocultural factors just by changing the political system. I think it is historically specific too. Some insight by a retired prison doctor & psychiatrist about British youth and young adults

That said, winds of change are blowing in many different countries..

I’m jst thankful that here in the US we have the safety valve that we do. If not for it, we would have a lot more riots and a lot more destabilization. Elitism is everywhere, but in the US, it’s easier to become part of the integral elite.

Yeah.

Another issue is that our police are actually ARMED and use hte guns on the miscreants. Our police thankfully have actual guns (why the British police don’t is truly beyond me) and are authorized to use deadly force if at all required by circumstances. The Brits should be letting their police dogs loose and let them go to town on the rioters.
