More votes for Perry than Palin in Iowa Straw Poll

Posted on 08/13/2011 5:35:56 PM PDT by Minus_The_Bear

Rick Perry who just announced his candidacy received more votes than Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich.

How much longer can Palin just drive around the country not doing much of anything and still expect to run for POTUS?

A potential candidate without the organization to even manage 100 write in votes looks really really bad.

It didn’t matter if if the write in was a candidate or not?

Wow, what a coincidence! Gov. Palin ran for vice president in 2008 and kept her large organization active through speaking, radio, television, Facebook, O4P, Twitter, V4P and other venues. Keep making my arguments for me. Thanks!!

I only said Perry’s a RINO, and you attack Palin like I’m a supporter....

You too have played your hand along with RINOssucks....

I will vote for the conservative, which means Perry and Romney are OUT.

/yawn

Trying to equate Perry with Romney is silly. Romney is a pure RINO with virtually no movement conservative and Tea Party backing, Perry may not be perfect but he's not a RINO no matter how loud you anti-Perry folks wail and holler that he is. Perry also has a lot of movement conservative and Tea Party support whether you like it or not.

So yes, I am proudly a Palinbot.

I was too till it became pretty obvious that, at least to me, she isn't running. Now it's time to look for a decent conservative alternative that can actually win. Perry seems to be a good option and no amount of screaming about Gardasil and the TTC is going to persuade very many people he isn't fairly conservative overall.

Bachmann is a good alternative as well and all the anti-Bachmann crying about her selling out and becoming an establishment RINO because she hired Ed Rollins was a bunch of nonsense too.

Be careful, lest the haters accuse you of being a member of the Palin Cult and a mocker of God by declaring that she has stated she is the “I Am”. /s/

I agree with the tee. She is.

Why are you spending so much time on a person who isn't running, when you could be spending time either supporting or criticizing somebody who is running?

Because the goal is to tamp down enthusiasm for Palin by badmouthing her in anyway possible because they fear her and see her as a threat to their candidates.

I'm concern because now both Perry & Romeny are in with their corporate SuperPAC's and it's too late for a constitutional conservative.

Can Palin fund raise against both Perry & Romney who will be able to hit up corporate CEO & CFOs?

Just last week Romney's SuperPAC raised millions. That money will be used to fool people who aren't following politics everyday.

Hmmm. I don’t know wth you are, but Joe Trippi who has been on the ground in Iowa said if Governor Palin had been in the straw poll she would have won running away.

This is a ridiculous statement. Palin was in the state yesterday and she had the same opportunity for write in votes as Perry so why did he get over 700 votes and Palin got 35?

The handwriting is on the wall. If Palin is smart, she will say "thanks, but no thanks", several others will also recognize the futility of chasing this dream.

Bachmann occupies the same space that Palin would want and Bachmann has the big MO right now.

I did not know that. I respect Sarah even more for not giving money to the GOP. Good for her.

Yet, she still showed up to the party, shook hands with the people, gave interviews, and the RINOs provided the venue. Pretty smart strategizing.

She went to the IA State Fair, not an Ames Straw Poll Event.

Be careful, lest the haters accuse you

Is "haters" a new meme or have I just missed it? I've seen it a few times today. Old or new, it's low AND lame; trending to liberal.

At least with Obama, I see the knife coming at me. With RINOs, I'm always being stabbed in the back.

Best post of the week.

If/when she announces (and I think if she does, it will be Sept. 3rd or Constitution Day), the groundswell of volunteers to campaign for her will be unprecedented. There are also organizations for Palin in all but 5 or so states.

There's no doubt in my mind that if she does enter, her campaign will be unconventional and piss off all the right people.

Those organizations you mention are incredibly small and couldn't even get Palin 100 votes.

That is the reason for the concern... but way to miss the point.

I was there. You could write in any name you wanted. Perry was a write in and he got 200 votes more than Romney who was on the ballot. The big loser today was Romney.
