ObamaCare stomping on liberty
Sentinel & Enterprise ^ | 08/09/2011 | STAR PARKER

Who can forget that rare moment of honesty during the campaign to pass Obamacare when Nancy Pelosi said, "We have to pass the bill in order for you to find out what's in it"?

Now we have it, and almost daily there are new revelations about the staggering extent to which our private lives and individual freedoms have been stomped on.

We learn now that free birth control in the form of contraceptives, morning-after pills, and sterilization is part of the grand Obamacare socialist dream-come-true.

The health insurance that Obamacare mandates that all employers provide and that all citizens acquire must pay 100 percent for these birth-control products and services, with no deductible or co-pays. Birth control gets more preferential treatment than cancer or heart disease.

...

Obamacare is a masterpiece in its achievement of leaving no corner of our personal freedoms unviolated. It hijacks our pocketbook, our autonomy of action and our conscience.

The result is to leave us economically and morally impoverished.

The Congressional Budget Office forecasts huge deficits and growing debt, double what they are today, driven primarily by health-care spending, fueled by Obamacare-mandated entitlements.

Americans need to sober up. The challenges facing us are formidable.

Repeal of Obamacare is on a growing and most challenging list of things to do.

Until Thanksgiving the Super Committee will be tied up screwing up the debt ceiling and raising our tax’s.

With nothing else to do maybe the rest of the pro-politicians should get wild hair up their buttts and tackle the health care fiasco.

Yeah I know-—I am dreaming. They won’t do squat.

Repeal of ObamaCare has gone the way of Scott Brown (and soon Rick Perry) for President.

That means less socialists/liberals/communists will be produced. There may be a silver lining after all.

The Obama-Kare bill is the poster-child for what is wrong with congress.

The bill is written by lobbyists.

The bill is intentionally too large and complex to read and understand in the time available.

The size and complexity of the bill are used to hide and disguise many provisions that have absolutely nothing to with the stated purpose of the bill, to disguise unpalatable provisions and push thorugh items that would be rejected on their own merit.

The costs and financials are worked out by bureaucratic tricksters whose goal is to come up with something that can be peddled, not something honest and sustainable.

The bill is intentionally pushed for passage on a short timetable so senators and congressmen most vote blind.

They do not have time to read and understand what they are voting on so passage or rejection becomes a test of party loyalty as opposed to doing what is right for the country and the people they represent.

Leaders of the house and senate push their agenda without regard for their oath or the people’s trust.
They have turned congress into the largest criminal enterprise in the country.

The are nothing but ruthless gang leaders, breaking laws, stealing, paying off supporters and friends, threatening and punishing opposition.

They know they are stealing taxpayer money with lies and decption and they don’t care.

And always remember this: When Leftists speak of liberty and truth--it's newspeak.

Note also that they should be referred to as Leftists, never as "liberals". The word liberal is also newspeak; there is nothing liberal about these people.

Here's some more newspeak:

"Love is hate.
"Freedom is slavery."
"War is peace."
"'Liberalism' is compassionate."
"Republicans want to destroy social security."
"The Tea Party is terrorist."
"The Tea Party is racist."
"Big Brother is watching OUT for you."

Never be fooled by their newspeak. It's nothing more than strategy to make Big Brother your master.

ObamaCare stomping on liberty

Lady Liberty will only take so much, and then she'll do some stomping of her own!

We knew all of this.

We knew it was coming.

We knew what Obamacare was all about.

Can Obamacare be repealed?

Not if we keep “reaching across the aisle” and setting up “super committees.”

I don’t understand how the smartest people in the conservative room didn’t figure out what the rest of us could have told them 3 years ago.

If politicians are even the slightest bit interested in the state of the economy repealing 0bamaCare should be their most urgent priority.

The same applies if they have any interest in liberty.

Whose right is health care? Do you think it's yours?

Congressman Anthony Weiner has said that health care is not a commodity. If it isn't a commodity then do doctors and nurses have rights? Assigning health care the status of a right makes health care workers slaves to that right who must serve it. On what ground could a health care worker refuse to provide their products and services since that would violate the patient's "basic human right to health care."

That is a direct loss of individual rights for health care providers. The collective right of the people to receive health care would supersede the provider's individual right to set fees and hours or to change their occupational status or even decide how to apply their skills and knowledge if taken to its logical extreme. A collective right, by practical definition, is a state right because it is a right that is created and given by the government to those it chooses to give it to. It is not a natural right possessed by each person protected by the Constitution from the government. It is also a collective/state right by virtue of the fact that it would supersede individual rights when the two come into conflict. How else would the government view a right that it created and administers vs. one it has no control over?

Of course it isn't stated in any bill that a patient's right to care supersedes a provider's right to set fees and hours etc, but it doesn't need to. Rights, as always, are adjudicated in the courts. The Health Care Reform bills simply establish the foundation for the courts to rule in favor of the collective right.

Weiner’s view is collectivist, fascist and totalitarian. Collectivist because it has to be described as being a right of the many instead of the one and superior due to that fact. Fascist because ultimately the sole authority for its creation and oversight is from one entity the Federal government. Totalitarian because the Federal government is the enforcer of this collective right as well. State and local jurisdictions will have little say about it.

Congressman Weiner's view is the underlying philosophy of all of the Health Care Reform legislation in the House and Senate. Consider this section in the Senate version of the bill; the setting up of community watch dogs that will monitor citizens for various health parameters. Read pages 382 - 393.

TITLE I—QUALITY, AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE FOR ALL AMERICANS pps 382 - 393

So, even citizens themselves will be subject to Federal regulations on their behavior in order to fulfill the "human right" of universal health care. It isn't the individual's liberty that is being protected by that it is the government's control over its own health care system that is being guarded. How much clearer can it be that these bills abrogate the concept of individual rights? Someone will be checking your lifestyle, according to gov regulations, to be certain you serve the best interests of the "basic human right to health care" ie. "the Public Option."

HCR is not just about rationing care and wealth redistribution. It's about the end of individual rights as the corrosive effects of the new collectivist "basic human right to health care" spreads throughout the legal and political systems like a virus.

I think that the main purpose of Health Care Reform (HCR) is as a direct assault on individual liberties.

“Repeal of Obamacare is on a growing and most challenging list of things to do.”

How about repealing government’s hand in healthcare all together? Obamacare is just another step in a long line of government interference.

So what is the difference between Obamacare and what they have in Canada?

a lot. Canadian medicare is universal single payer (or multipayer, because it is run by the provinces) health insurance. Obamacare is mandated private insurance. In theory obamacare is similar to what they have in Germany, Japan and Switzerland (I think Israel also has a system like this), but none of those countries allow for-profit private primary health insurance (switzerland used to, but they ended it in the 1990s). Canada’s medicare is more like US medicare for senior citizens, with some major differences.
