Rick Perry Compares Pro-abortion Giuliani to Ronald Reagan
YouTube ^ | 2008

Rick Perry on Rudy Giuliani: "He's the closest thing we have to a Ronald Reagan Republican in this race".

Slick-Rick apparently thought PRO-ABORTION, PRO-GAY, ANTI-GUN Rudy Giuliani was closer to President Ronald Reagan than was Mike Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo and/or Fred Thompson.

Do you have any comment on the video, or did you just come to shoot the messenger?

Who've I shot?
I asked if it was going to be difficult when Rick Perry was the GOP nominee. I'll ask the same of you.

FlyingEagle: “He does change his mind when persuaded.”

You mean forced. Read the story here:

Yeah, that floored me. One Freeper said Perry must be conservative because “Sarah said so.” He couldn’t think for himself, or examine the record for himself, but once he heard from the Divine Oracle, that settled it. I swear, these people amaze me.

That's because she is for path to citizenship, too. Can't help but wonder if she would be stronger against illegals if Alaska had been swarming with illegals bankrupting the state?

No, Rick Perry did not compare Rudy Giuliani to Reagan. He said "he's the closest thing we have to a Ronald Reagan Republican in this race." Perry and Hannity were speaking about Romney, Huckabee, and Giuliani.

None of them are comparable to Reagan. Not one. But Perry wasn't making a comparison. So the title of your vanity is incorrect.

If I had to pick who was the closest to Reagan among the three of them, I certainly wouldn't pick Romney. So that leaves Huck or Rudy. The former is a social conservative, fiscal liberal and the latter is a social liberal, fiscal conservative. Since the Reagan Democrats liked Reagan's fiscal conservatism, I guess I'd say Rudy was closer to Reagan than Huckabee was.

You present this video as if Perry made a glowing comparison of Rudy to Reagan. He didn't. It's a disservice to FReepers to present incorrect information.

And Sarah Palin also endorsed McCain. So according to their logic, he would make a great conservative candidate too?

She endorsed Tancredo, too, although she did wait until the day before the election. (day late and a dollar short) Backhanded endorsement?

Since “Unnamed Republican” wins convincingly against Obama, Let’s vote for them instead. Perry is not the only person who can beat Obama. There are better choices.

Ah...we have a path to citizenship right now. Been there for a long time. And she said that she is for people standing in line just like the old days and doing it the right way. So they can go to the back of it behind all the people already there.

Should take about 50-60 years to empty that que out before the first one gets in. A lot can happen in 50-60 years while they wait... on the other side of the border. I like that plan.

Pols have been saying that for decades and look where its gotten us. No further along. In fact we now have 40 million illegals. That is not the progress I was looking for regarding the border. So, that isn't working.

There is a lot of that going around, isn't there?

It is truly discouraging...

Giuliani is pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, and anti-Second Amendment, and he is corrupt. The only reason he wasn’t prosecuted was his crimes weren’t discovered until after the statutes of limitations ran out.

Anyone who would support someone like Giuliani for elected office does not have the judgement to be president.

The Perry folks are holding off posting here...

The Perry folks are too busy on Facebook (especially Obama's) and in the comment sections under news articles on CNN.com, MSNBC.com and the others rebutting Obama's lies and reminding the American people that Obama had a super majority for the first two terms of his Presidency and that the republicans had only been in control of the House since January (8 months ago).

While the Perry folks attack liberalism, democrats and Obama's policies the others have been attacking our own.

He does change his mind when persuaded (gardasil mistake)...

He never actually changed his mind. If he had he would have rescinded his Executive Order instead waiting for the legislature to do it.

Goodness, just a tad heavy on the self-serving ode to noble causes. Perry's got to earn Republican primary votes first, which means he and his supporters have to be able to face legit questions from Republicans about his record. Certainly, "Perry folks" are capable of multi-tasking and defending his record while they're engaged on this great noble crusade against liberalism and all the the rest.

You make some pretty good points. Perhaps the Perry folks figure that with a double digit lead against the former top runner in the Republican field it is they and not Perry that needs to be on the defensive and the Perry folks use the time to go after Obama and his dismal record instead.

I LIKE Rudy...he was the best thing for NYC that came along in around 50 years....

....but he is NOT, repeat NOT presidential timber. His methods are fascist and anti-individual. NYC at the time, I suppose, needed a fascist....and seeing as how the dims had made NYC a cross between Marxism and Fascism already, it was no great shakes to have him clean the city in his own inimitable style.

He is not right for America....period. Let him run for either Putzhead Schumer's or Gillibrand's seat in the Senate...he can only improve the senate in comparison to those two pear-shaped losers.....

I will not vote for Rudy for president...period...and I will do what I can against him in either of those endeavors.

A double digit lead five months before a single vote will be counted is pure cotton candy. Just ask Hillary and Rudy supporters how long that stuff fills the belly. Electoral loser history is filled with the graves of double digit leaders.

To sum it up, he’s a thug. Since Perry couldn’t see that, he’s not qualified to be President.
