Howard Dean: Bush camp will take Perry out By Daniel Strauss - 08/17/11 01:59 PM ET
Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean predicted that prominent political supporters of former President George W. Bush will throw a critical blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perrys (R) presidential campaign.
The Bush people dont fool around, as you know, Dean said Tuesday night on MSNBC. You can say a lot of things about Bushs presidency and his failures as president, but one thing nobody should say [anything] bad about [is] his political team. They know what theyre doing, and they are ruthless, and they are going to take Perry out. Deans comments come as a number of former Bush administration operatives have criticized recent comments Perry has made. Political strategist and Bush adviser Karl Rove said comments Perry made about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke were not a presidential statement.
Its not smart politics, either, Rove said on Fox News. Governor Perry is going to have to fight the impression that hes a cowboy from Texas. This simply added to it.
Perry came under fire by prominent Republicans for saying that Bernanke would be treated pretty ugly in Texas for deciding to print more money, an action the governor called almost treasonous.
The readiness of Rove and other former Bush administration officials to criticize Perry illustrates a longstanding rift between the camps of the two Texas politicians.
In the same interview, Dean said Perry has also made a bigger mistake than most people think by pitting his presidential campaign against Rep. Michele Bachmanns (R-Minn.).
This is not a mistake hes going to get over, and the reason is, that hes now he came into this race in competition with Romney and Bachmann, and thats a winning strategy for Perry, Dean said. He is now in competition with Bachmann and not with Romney. Thats a losing strategy for Perry, because they are going to split the right with the far-right vote, and I think this is great news for Mitt Romney.
rove’s an old woman.
Any animus the Bush Klan has for Perry is an endrosement in my book.
NO MORE BUSHES!!!!!!!!!!!
take your meds, Howard Dean.
Since the Bush camp hates Perry so much according to Dean, isn’t that a bit of a problem for The Boy-Queen to paste Perry with Bush’s mantle?
Howard Dean? HOWARD DEAN?????? Why in the world would anyone give a dead rat’s patootie what this insane pigmy has to say about anything...let alone internal GOP politicas! HOWARD DEAN???
amen.
3 generations of big spenders and moslem lovers.
They were not able to when he ran for governor and they won’t be able to now. However, I am glad that they are trying because this will please a lot of bush haters who are fed up with bambi and make them more likely to vote for Perry if he gets the nod. Bush hatred is still alive and well.
Its not smart politics, either, Rove said on Fox News. Governor Perry is going to have to fight the impression that hes a cowboy from Texas. This simply added to it.
So Rove doesn't like Perry. Perry's looking beter and better every day...
The Bush/Romney people are certainly trying to take Perry out.
It’s probably the only reason, I’m scrutizing all the “open borders” stuff posted here (which, on examination is largely not as represented).
Because we all know Howard Dean is an expert on the backroom politics of the Texas Republican Party.
Dean is forgeting something: motive.
There is no reason for Bush to want or need Perry out of the race. None.
Wish someone would take both Rove and Howierd Dean out - and not bring them back.
Hou do you spell WISHFUL THINKING?
Hilarious!
The dems are scared spitless.
I know, the will get Kay Bailey Hutchison and Carole Keeton McClellan Rylander Strayhorn to gang up on Governor Perry. And have McCain school him on political etiquette.
Guffaw
Your ticket in your tagline has a 12th Amendment problem.
I watched Rove on Greta last night. The guy’s teeth are now falling out. LOL!
