Howard Dean: Bush camp will take Perry out By Daniel Strauss - 08/17/11 01:59 PM ET
Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean predicted that prominent political supporters of former President George W. Bush will throw a critical blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perrys (R) presidential campaign.
The Bush people dont fool around, as you know, Dean said Tuesday night on MSNBC. You can say a lot of things about Bushs presidency and his failures as president, but one thing nobody should say [anything] bad about [is] his political team. They know what theyre doing, and they are ruthless, and they are going to take Perry out. Deans comments come as a number of former Bush administration operatives have criticized recent comments Perry has made. Political strategist and Bush adviser Karl Rove said comments Perry made about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke were not a presidential statement.
Its not smart politics, either, Rove said on Fox News. Governor Perry is going to have to fight the impression that hes a cowboy from Texas. This simply added to it.
Perry came under fire by prominent Republicans for saying that Bernanke would be treated pretty ugly in Texas for deciding to print more money, an action the governor called almost treasonous.
The readiness of Rove and other former Bush administration officials to criticize Perry illustrates a longstanding rift between the camps of the two Texas politicians.
In the same interview, Dean said Perry has also made a bigger mistake than most people think by pitting his presidential campaign against Rep. Michele Bachmanns (R-Minn.).
This is not a mistake hes going to get over, and the reason is, that hes now he came into this race in competition with Romney and Bachmann, and thats a winning strategy for Perry, Dean said. He is now in competition with Bachmann and not with Romney. Thats a losing strategy for Perry, because they are going to split the right with the far-right vote, and I think this is great news for Mitt Romney.
Quote: “Dean may be evil but hes the guy who engineered the takeover of congress in 2006. More than anyone else, he is responsible for health care being passed.”
Actually, that would be Rham Emmanuel. Dean was despised by the DCC and shut out of strategy meetins and fund raising. Anyway, their entire “strategy” comprised repeating the “culture of corruption” mantra and celebrating every American death in Iraq while coordinating with the MSM to be sure that the “Civil War” in Iraq was broadcast everynight as the lead story.
Cheney had been Wyomings only Congressman.
Dr. Paul was born in Pennsylvania, IIRC so maybe you could send him there.
Whatever Dean says, take 180 degrees opposite, and it probably is the truth.
They support Romney.
Pay attention to what Rove says about Perry and then compare to what he says about Romney.
The Bushes suported KBH against Perry in the last gov's race.
What is a leftist hack supposed to do?
Of course, Howard Dean is the last person to be believed about ANYTHING!!! Such a hateful, repulsive political has-been.
There is no “Bush Camp” within the Republican party anymore.
Unlike Democrats, we aren’t eternally obsessed with the politics of the year 2000.
Thanks Sub-Driver.
Dean is right, Rove can’t stand Perry or Palin and will do anything to mold the GOP his way.
This is same GOP that forced Bush senior onto Reagan as VP!
Reagan wanted Ford and the GOP idiots who hated Reagan got their way.
Dont lsten to Rove, he is a Washington elite who hates the tea party.
He enjoys his life as is, he does not want it to be changed by us peasants!
rove’s wife divorced him last year or so.
she couldn’t stand him either.
Karl Rove represents the Bush Dynasty
