Congressional Republicans are worried that Rick Perry's campaign has become a gaffe machine that may endanger the party' chances of unseating President Barack Obama, POLITICO reports.
As the Texas governor takes on the role of front-runner, his statements, like the one critical of Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, have GOP lawmakers concerned that his campaign will self-destruct or worse, win the nomination, but alienate the independent voters needed to win the general election.
You cant be calling Bernanke a traitor and you cant be questioning whether or not Barack Obama loves America, that type of thing, Rep. Peter King (R-NY), told POLITICO. Ive been with Perry a few times, and I can see how he could project, again, if its done the right way. But no, if he continues this, hell have a tough time.
Another congressmen suggested Perry needs to rethink his strategy so as not to alienate independent voters. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-IL), a member of the GOP leadership said of the Bernanke comments: Thats not something you want to lead with if youre trying to get independents to come your way. I would imagine that hes thinking through his strategy.

This is the same stragey the Democrats use against conservatives.
“Whatever you do, don’t use your best weapons against liberals, because you might get moderates mad at you.”
John McCain tried that strategy and we see what happened.
I think the country is in the mood for plain talk and someone that will fight, not more Washington doubletalk and weak backbone.
I think the issue this election is JOBS.
I think Perry is in a unique and wonderful position to present himself as THE solution. His record resonates, whether you think it’s fair or not. The fact is Texas is booming and he’s at the helm.
I could say the same to you, fellow Texan but, I ain’t stoopin that low.
You have the right to your opinion but, only if you’re nice about it.
“She says, and she tells pollsters, she’s ‘independent’.”
My mom is a registered independent and a TOTAl lib, too, except perhaps for the issue of crime.
Not only would Jesus not win the NE and W coasts, but also he’d be ridiculed for calling himself the Son of Man. “He’s arrogant or delusional,” they’d say. “He’s a fearmonger! He’s racist! He’s intolerant!”

I saw that over at Zerohedge earlier today. I suspect that it is a dirty trick setup, but I’ll be watching to see whether there is any follow through.
That MSNBC audio trick about the “black cloud” should make us all cautious about anything like this. It will eventually happen to any candidate that looks to be gaining traction.
Rick Perry critics unearth another secession comment

The second time it was recorded in public comment.
I do not mean to suggest he is pushing secession. He isn’t and never has pushed it. I brought it up to help separate him from the Washington Insider crowd.
Republicans should worry how they fair with conservatives!!!
I agree with that and I also believe that regardless of their relationship a 2012 GOP POTUS candidate would naturally ask for input from the last successful GOP POTUS regarding the campaign. Out of politeness if nothing more.
With regard to their personal feud, there's plenty of stories that back it up and particularly the KBH run for Texas Governor. Heck, one FReeper (post #42) claims that W's nickname for Rick Perry is "dumb*ss".
Well, I like Perry’s remarks. He says what he thinks and that is a rarity in a person running for Office. He tells it like it is and in plain terms! Last I heard we still had Freedom of Speech in America. If the Republican big wigs start fighting among themselves over every off handed remark a Republican Candidate makes, they are going to get stuck with 4 more years of the worst President who ever graced the Oval Office, and the rest of us will suffer. You can count on it!
Hey GOP establishment... How about this? John McCain and Mitt Romney don’t appeal to the Republican base. Can we try running someone that our voters approve of this time and who actually believes in our party’s platform? That would be rad.
“I have a friend......unabashed liberal. Straight-ticket Dem. Super Hippie-dippie-60’s chick.”
You seldom fail to crack me up.
Have you considered changing bait and fishing a different hole, on the chance you’ll bring up a....... quality fish? ;>)
Main Street America is NOT angry with Wall Street. The Obama administration would like you to think that.
Wall Street Bankers are not the true source of the problems with sub-prime market. The government and Fannie Mae was, assisted of course, by their friends in the banking industry and at Moody’s. Moody’s is now being sued for over-rating the sub-prime investment products that were being marketed by the banks as a way out of the bad investments that had been forced on them through the Community Re-investment Act.
Oh, after the banks figured out how to profit from all of it, they were only too happy to co-operate, but they were not the root of the problem.
Main Street America, as you put it, just wants to get by. They are basically oblivious to how Wall Street works or doesn’t work. If the press tells them that Wall Street is broke and Obama said he could fix it, the people believed it -—for awhile. Not any more.
Main Street America doesn’t even hate “big oil” anymore. Main Street America is seeing “big oil” as jobs that they could have and money back in the economy. Radical environmentalism is for good times, when the country can afford pay for bad science, just in case, their might be some element of truth in it.
The media is going to be torn over Perry’s campaign. He’s good press and that sells papers, but his tendency to put his opponent on the defense is going to test their loyalty to Obama.
Won’t need to, just need to remind Americans of these facts:
As president he’s appointed the following foxes as hen house guards:
A former SEIU member who kind of agrees with Mao...as manufacturing czar.
A former commissioner of Socialist International, eco-profiteer, and CAP board member...as global warming czar.
An ACORN defender and Obama’s private attorney...as ethics and transparency czar.
A revolutionary communist...as green jobs czar.
A power-lusting control freak longing to delimit choices...as regulatory czar.
An anti-capitalist Chicken Little peddling junk science...as science czar.
A man who thinks terrorists represent the legitimate needs and grievances of ordinary people...as counter-terrorism czar.
An anti-Israel “poverty breeds terrorism” theorist...as U.S. ambassador to the U.N.
A woman who believes that Congress can abridge free speech and another who thinks the court of appeals is where policy is made...as Supreme Court justices.
An SEIU VP, activist for the Working Families Party, and political director for Bertha Lewis, the head of ACORN’s New York chapter...as director of the office of public affairs to help push the president’s agenda.
A man who gives guns to drug cartels while allowing them to smuggle drugs in, who refuses to protect our borders while litigating any state which tries to defend its own as and turns a blind eye to voter intimidation...as attorney general.
A woman worried about white right-wing extremists while she has Grandma groped at the airport...as homeland security chief.
A woman who proposes that the U.S. has the right to protect “Palestine” from Israel...as a foreign policy adviser.
The Anti-American President

I wouldn’t worry too much. By Nov 2012 the independents will be voting for anybody but BHO just like the rest of us.
It is a great honor to be in the presence of the Imam of 16 million Muslims around the world, a global humanitarian leader, a man of peace with a pluralistic vision for people around the world, His Highness, the Aga Khan, the 49th Hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Your Highness, on behalf of 23 million Texans, and over 600,000 thousand Muslims living in Texas, I extend our heartfelt appreciation for your 50 years of great international leadership. We are delighted to welcome you to the Lone Star State and participate in the celebration of your Golden Jubilee. I am also grateful to the many federal, state and local leaders in attendance tonight. By their presence, these special guests convey the profound respect that exists in the Western World for His Highness work and leadership.
Now lets see what scripture has to say about positions like that. And dont forget that Perry said he was speaking for all Texans.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:8-9
2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. 10 If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: 11 For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
I will not follow or support a man is in that position.
I guess if you like someone who supports the Muslims in this country you could vote for Perry. I dont.
perhaps even the Mahdi ? And you think we have not already elected
a Muslim for president ?
