Rick Perry aims for right balance of firebrand and statesman in GOP race
Washinton Post ^ | August 19, 2011 | Philip Rucker and Nia-Malika Henderson,

.....In part because he is the newest entrant, Perry has drawn large crowds this week in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. Here in Florence, he was greeted as a heartthrob Friday morning as more than 300 people jammed around tables, stood on booths and craned their necks to see past the hot breakfast buffet at Bazen’s Family Restaurant and take stock of the Texan.

It was one of the more enthusiastic crowds any candidate has assembled this year, and Perry did not disappoint when he tore into Obama.

“The president’s been on a jobs tour,” Perry said. “He had his big ol’ bus — his big ol’ $1.2 million bus, made in Canada. But, anyway, the real issue is our president’s out there and he goes on a jobs tour. This is the president of the United States that has killed more jobs in America than I think any president. . . . The only job he cares about is the one he’s got.”

Perry said his campaign is about “cuttin’ taxes, cuttin’ regulations and cuttin’ litigation.” In one of his biggest applause lines, he said: “I am a pro-business governor, and I don’t make any apologies to anybody about it. I’m going to be a pro-business president, and I won’t make any apologies about it.”

Perry learned this week that what may please his Republican audiences may not go over as well with people tuning in nationwide. Speaking to a ballroom of Iowa Republicans on Sunday night, Perry said: “One of the reasons, one of the powerful reasons, that I’m running for the presidency of the United States is to make sure that every young man and woman who puts on the uniform of this country respects highly the president of the United States.” .....

It takes a small mind to believe that if someone doesn’t support RINO Rick Perry they are trying to reelect Obama.

It's also a liberal tactic seen time and again. It's just pure nonesense since there's a field of candidates to choose from and more conservative than Perry....if he's conservative much at all.

How can he be conservative and want open borders...and schools to teach Islam to our kids? Somethings wrong with that picture.

Mr. Freep animus toward Governor Palin goes back a ways. He once referred to the Governor as “a populist idiot”. Reference Virginia Ridgerunner’s obligatory Psycho-Freep disclaimer for the rest of the story.

You can't “Swift Boat” an honorable Military Man who has served with honor and integrity, like Rick Perry has.

Perry's brothers in arms, have nothing but the utmost respect and admiration for him. He is a true leader and a great man. His stellar career and record illustrate that beyond all doubt. Anyone who says different, is a complete liar.

At what point does one become Conservative enough?

Are you seeking a perfect, error-free candidate?

At what point does perfect become the enemy of good or great?

The last perfect man was murdered by the religious authorities of his day, so demanding perfection from a lesser man is a mission doomed from the start.

And at what point does attacking one candidate make your preferred candidate any better?

The Bilderberg Conference is an "invitation only" annual meeting that invites people that are considered "influential", both liberals and conservatives, to get together and butt heads about different problems.

It is sort of like a "Pro-Bowl Game" of political and economic leaders.

In her day, Margaret Thatcher was invited to and attended a Bilderberg Meeting.

The only problem with attending a Bilderberg Meeting, however, is that it earns you the wrath of the Tin-Foil Hat/Black Helicopter crowd.

You are right. One cannot be conservative and advocate for liberal causes AND liberal candidates. I find it laughable that so many think we should ignore the long list of things in Perry's past that prove he is no conservative.

Conservatives don't support liberal causes. It's just that simple.

How funny ! It’s all about the secret handshake... if Perry doesn’t know it, i’m not voting for him, as it will indeed make him a true RINO ...

At one point does one advocate for enough liberal causes before you will admit he is not a conservative?

I am not seeking a perfect candidate, just a conservative one and RINO Rick is far from being conservative.

Why do you Perry apologists think calling Perry out for his liberal leanings is an attack? It's part of his record as governor of the state of Texas. You may think we should overlook his past but his past is exactly what we should all use to form our opinions.

It's very simple, really. Perry has things in his past that I and many are just not willing to overlook. Perry apologists are willing and do. It gets no deeper than that.

Come on, you know that the only non-RINO, according to her backers, is St. Sarah. Idiots, all of them. They fail to realize that obami is destroying the country, they are more concerned that someone other than St. Sarah might be the one to wipe FUBO’s stain off the country's leadership.

The real enemy is obami and his flunkies like Holder, Lisa Jackson, Cass Sundstein, Arne Duncan, etc. They are the real enemy of freedom and must be eliminated from control of the country.

” One cannot be conservative and advocate for liberal causes AND liberal candidates.”

Hmmm, that’s odd ... Didn’t Palin support Perry ? According to you Perry is a Liberal RINO , so what does that make Palin given your logic ?

Have you seen this article?

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/seven-ways-rick-perry-wants-change-constitution-131634517.html

I’m not going to comment on the intent or tone of the article but please tell me which points of this are Liberal and which points you would agree or disagree.

It would be good to read the article because I’m just listing the points and not the whole article.

1. Abolish lifetime tenure for federal judges by amending Article III, Section I of the Constitution.

2. Congress should have the power to override Supreme Court decisions with a two-thirds vote.

3. Scrap the federal income tax by repealing the Sixteenth Amendment.

4. End the direct election of senators by repealing the Seventeenth Amendment.

5. Require the federal government to balance its budget every year.

6. The federal Constitution should define marriage as between one man and one woman in all 50 states.

7. Abortion should be made illegal throughout the country.

No matter how many correct and honest facts you present to these people, you are wasting your time. They have a one track agenda and nothing you do, will change their way of thinking.

What does a bunch of Palin supporters who have formed a ping list to hijack pro Perry threads and attack with lies and twist Perry's record and defame him (I've heard him called slimy, reptilian and others by Palin supporters) have to do with whether Perry can handle criticism?

Perry is doing great on the campaign trail and racking up support wherever he goes. He is also taking on everyone from Obama, to Matthews to Karl Rove and brushing them off with ease.

this is about you and your ilk jumping Perry threads. Most Perry supporters like or have at least supported Palin at some point. Ya'lls tactics are ridiculous and push more people from Palin than to her.

Perry will win this nomination whether Palin joins the fray or not. It's just frustrating to try to enjoy some news about your candidate without having a bunch of guerrillas jump every thread to change to conversation. It's a joke.

Adios Mofo

I’m not a Palin defender. I was, in fact, one of her biggest critics when she endorsed Juan McCain. So your post means nothing to me.
