Wall Street executives turn back on Obama, start donating to Romney
The Hill ^ | 8/22/11 | Jake Interrante and Bob Cusack

The crossover donors are employed by a large number of banks, private equity firms and hedge-fund companies, including Credit Suisse, The Blackstone Group, Stanwich Group and Goldman Sachs.

One of the donors is Joshua Harris of Apollo Management, who recently bought the Philadelphia 76ers. Others include Oscar Schafer of OSS Capital Management, David Solomon of Goldman Sachs, Barry Sternlight with the Starwood Capital Group and David Blitzer of the Blackstone Group.

One Wall Street executive, who requested anonymity, said he and some of his colleagues feel betrayed by Obama...

"...Everybody I speak to is on the same boat — disappointment," said the source, who contributed to Obama three years ago and is now backing Romney.

The executive said he and others on Wall Street have taken exception to Obama's rhetoric about the wealthy, especially because the president has asked rich donors to fork over $35,800 to his reelection efforts.

"It's not healthy for rich people to feel maligned," the executive said.

Romney is not my choice, but I will vote for him in a heart beat over Obama.

And even if he isn’t my choice, I’d rather see money going to a republican than obama. This is a positive.

So instead of donating to an idiot liberal, these so-called “spurned” rich execs now decide to give to another ultra liberal?

I agree completely.

My worry, and it's a big worry, is that some folks will feel so dissatisfied (and perhaps alienated) by not getting "their choice" of a GOPer candidate, that they will listen to the siren song lies of a third party candidate.

(I have this concern that the liberal poseur Trump might fake a run to the right of whomever the GOP nominates, and siphon enough votes for Mister Obama to stay in office and continue on his anti-American course.)

I held my nose and voted for McCain, and if I have to I will hold my nose and vote for Romney. I will vote for anybody over obama.

pot — kettle — black

Obama and Romney are both flip floppers — same mold.

Get used to hearing this Gaffer, I already am, we'll just have to listen to this refrain, until JimRob puts a stop to it, he's already on record as not voting for Romney under any circumstances.

I fear that, too. But Rush, who claims that he is good friends with Trump, says that he will talk to him and convince him that it’s not a good idea unless he wants 4 more years of Obama.

Great comment. My first thought was: They are scared of Sarah Palin and Rick Perry.

I think that Mitt will still protect Wall Street-- Sarah would let them hang.

I just could not bring myself to vote for Romney, even against Obama.

In many ways, given how fake Romney is, he’s worse than Obama.

At least Obama has a moral compass, even if its twisted and black and sick; Romney moral compass points where ever the wind blows.

I think people are way to optimistic that Romney will defeat Obama without a third party candidate running. I'm not so sanguine.

Romney will not be a strong candidate. He will get only lukewarm support from the TEA Party and then only because Obastard is worse.

I am tired of voting for the least of two evils.
