TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) A Republican Arizona state senator says he has formed an exploratory committee to examine a possible run next year for the congressional seat held by Democrat Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.
Sen. Frank Antenori, of Tucson, made extensive public comments last week about the committee but made his formal announcement Monday before a Republican women's group in Tucson.

Time for her to go. Time for a Republican in the seat.
I don't mean to sound cold but life goes on. If Giffords can't do the job she should get out of the way of someone who can.
The big question is whether she will run for reelection. She only won by a minority of the vote last time (the Libertarian deprived the Republican of a win).
I think that she recently returned to vote on the debt ceiling thing...while I am not a dimmacrat, I am all for her continuation, and I have great respect for her.
The people of her district can do as they like. Her staff can do most of the work of representation, but how much grasp of the legislation can someone have who has suffered such a trauma?
Boy. If Giffords says she is going to run again, how is anyone going to vote against the poor shooting victim Rep? Seems like a tall order. If she had any class, she would resign now for obvious reasons.
So let me understand your reasoning. Irrespective of the fact that she is a liberal democrat and votes against your beliefs, you are for her continuation in office because she got shot? I have respect for any number of people that I would not support for public office because their beliefs don’t parallel mine. It reminds me of a friend who told me that OJ Simpson could not have killed his wife and Ron Goldman “because he was a sports figure.”
I’m sorry she fell victim to a gun-wielding lunatic. With that said, I have zero respect for any congresscritter who votes to further Obama’s agenda of destroying this nation.
You know my brother? :-)
I don’t know how much class she has but she clearly does not possess the wherewithal to occupy a seat in congress. It’s not her fault but it is what it is.
Vastly more than Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Barney Fwank, etc. I don't agree with her votes, I just respect her fight to walk, and to return to her job. Her electorate can and should judge her abilities in 2012.
I am for her continuation in office, as long as she is re-elected by the residents of her district, and has not been ruled mentally deficient by her doctors. The way that she votes, while I disagree with the votes, is relevant only to her electorate. What exactly would you propose doing to remove her from her office???
The debt ceiling vote three weeks ago in a pathetic stunt by the 'Rats.
WAHOO!!! I LOVE FRANK!
He is so cool and in touch with the people. He is always out there talking to people, on the radio and so forth and has helped with some of the really good AZ legislation. Great guy.
If a person is medically incapaaciated beyond a reasonable time they should resign. Reasonable time measured in a few months. Most persons have 90 days sick leave tops. If an on the job injury Workman Comp kicks in but they still do not hold that job. Why should members of congress be exempt from realities most of us live under?
What “doctors?” The paid off ones?
I’m not too crazy about being represented by some “staff”. It’s good she is improving, but I’ve heard she has only been in AZ once since the shooting and she now lives in Houston.
She is trying to use campaign funds to pay for security in Houston as well.
Sorry- I didn't know that you knew Congresswoman Giffords. I had not heard that she is "medically incapaaciated".
Never been around serious head trauma patients have you? Many take years not months to heal. Many never return to previous mental capacity. Why all the secrecy as too her condition as well?
