To: Jim Robinson; All

Pat Boone is a fantastic patriot, he is a cofounder of
The Beverly Hills Tea Party and he spoke at a TPX tea party rally in Southern California last year.

And Jim Labriola is off the charts funny, he was the hardware store owner on Tool Time.

I’ll be there wearing my “Free Republic” t-shirt, on Saturday!

I also heard there will be people from KSFO there as well.

Going to be a fun and warm day to get outside.

Although I wish the Tea Party all the best, they are screwing up big time—both in my state and in Napa—with all these silk-stocking, high-dollar events. If I were a disenchanted demonrat looking for a new home, I’d tell them to kiss my penniless butt.

The rally on Sat is free.

If anyone is trying to charge you for that, they are not authorized to do so.

Don't fall for that.

The dinner is charging so as to cover expenses.

Tea Party events aren't funded by Soros or Obama’s thugs.

Or taxpayers.

Most tea party people btw, are civil and well behaved.

Exceptions are mostly concern trolls.

Hey Jim, Just need to know if you and Sheila will want to join us at the Debate Watch Dinner event in Tampa or not.
Thinking perhaps you might be going to the actual debate, but if not please join us as will hold two or more seats for you. Just let me know. Jean

“The rallies are free.”

Yes, Mr. Robinson. However, I lived in the area for some time, and I can say that transportation is not, nor food and drink. Perhaps they should not be free, but it would be a good deal more than I have.

The thing that leapt to my mind first, though, was that I could not afford clothing in which I would feel comfortable in the Napa social milieu.

If I were living in the Bay Area in my current circumstances, I would not undertake such an expedition.

“The rally on Sat is free.”

After you get there, and if you bring your own food and drink.

I remember a time, when I was a young, single Navy officer, that a day trip to Napa was of no more significance than a walk around the block.

Those days are gone. Tea Party “organizers” need to be looking at the methods of the left, the methods that brought them into power. They need to be reaching out—as the left did—to the broke, the struggling, the people to whom a trip to Napa is a hardship.

“Tea Party events aren’t funded by Soros or Obama’s thugs.”

Where are their counterparts on the right? Where is *our* Soros?

Besides, if the rally were held closer to a population center, perhaps it wouldn’t be so expensive.

“Most tea party people btw, are civil and well behaved.”

What brought that on? I didn’t imply anything to the contrary. Most conservatives are civil and well-behaved—even when it is a suicidal weakness to be so.

Oh, one other thing. People, I think we can agree, are people.

That being the case, what the Tea Party has created here is a situation in which some people will perceive a bright red line drawn between the swells who can afford $1,000 for a reserved table for eight, and those whose income is less than $1,000 per month.

That is a stupid mistake the leftards did not make. They knew that enthusiasm and loyalty are born when a person feels special, not when he feels like a raggedy bum among the other hoi polloi, standing outside in the dark listening to the sound of laughter and silver clinking on fine china.

If you need to have an expensive fund-raiser, then have it, but don’t let it define you to the very people you need to attract to your ranks.

So this thread says the Saturday rally kicks off at 10 am.

I thought that everywhere else previously the start time was given as 11 am.

Is this a change, a mistake on this thread, or did I mess up hearing what I was told before?

Hi, I am sorry that you feel you couldn't join in on rallies and/or the dinner's that are sometimes planned along the way on the tour.

Guess you might think of me as a “swell” because I was able to reserve tables at the Tampa Debate watching event for $1000 for 20 people. I am going to be reimbursed for those other 18 tickets (not me & hubby) by the freepers attending. Also, by my reserving the two tables at this event hosted by Mike Gallaher, our cost per person will be $50 instead of $60 because we reserved ahead. Now as far as value, the $50 per person includes free parking, dinner, debate watch, after debate party, and entertainment plus showing of some celebrities. So we Freepers attending the Tampa Debate Watch Dinner event are not “swells” but we can afford a special event like this once in a while. By the way, dress for this dinner event is business....nice slacks, shirt, not a suit/black tie event.

As far as rallies go, I wear my jeans like most others! In fact my hubby and I are “farmer type” folks and sure don't dress up often! :)

“I am sorry that you feel you couldn’t join in on rallies and/or the dinners that are sometimes planned along the way on the tour.”

You miss the point. It is not about me. It is about the thousands or tens of thousands of people who see talk of thousand-dollar tables as just more proof that Republicans/Tea Party/Conservatives are by, of, and for “the rich.”

It is a tactical error, and a serious one.

“Guess you might think of me as a “swell” because I was able to reserve tables at the Tampa Debate watching event for $1000 for 20 people.”

Perhaps you don’t realize how much better you are doing than a lot of people.

“our cost per person will be $50 instead of $60 because we reserved ahead.”

The figure mentioned for the Napa soiree was $150.

“Now as far as value, the $50 per person includes free parking, dinner, debate watch, after debate party, and entertainment plus showing of some celebrities.”

All across the country there are people who would say, “I don’t care if it includes a Beatles reunion, I ain’t got fifty bucks.”

The demonrats have been getting most of those votes by pretending to care about them. What the Tea Party should be doing is convincing them that conservatism offers the best—the only—path to prosperity. Instead, the Tea Party is pricing them and high-handing them right out of the game.

It reminds me of the movie, Dumb and Dumber: Pardon me, sir, this is a $150 a plate dinner. But you’re quite welcome to sit on the ground with the hoi polloi tomorrow while the elite lounge on the shaded dais.

Fer corn’s sake, are you all blind? Are you completely tone-deaf to human nature?

“but we can afford a special event like this once in a while.”

You need to be reaching out to those who can’t—and there are more of them now than at any time since the First Great Depression.

“By the way, dress for this dinner event is business....nice slacks, shirt, not a suit/black tie event.”

When a person hasn’t worked in five years, aside from a few temporary jobs at tiny wages, how many pair of “nice slacks,” presentable shirts, and respectable shoes do you think he has left in his closet? When he’s had money for clothes, it has gone to the kids.

“As far as rallies go, I wear my jeans like most others!”

(1) I don’t wear jeans. Ever.
(2) Once again we are off the point. The issue is the people who did not come to the rally because the talk of thousand-dollar table put them off.

If the Tea Party wants to remain successful as a grassroots movement, you’d better get rid of the people who want to become the “Tea Party Elite” and get back in touch with those roots.

I understand many of your points. And I consider myself blessed that I am able to afford a special event once in a while. I worked to help pay for my scooling and then taught school for 43 years. I saved and was what one would call thrifty all my life. So yes, I am blessed to be able to afford things I am sure many Americans can not.

I feel so very sorry for folks who have lost their job and are facing severe hardships, with many losing their homes. I would hope those who are facing such hardship will realize how it happened and see that Capitolism and free markets are NOT part of the Obama/Democrat/Socialist agenda, and that things will get much worse if they vote Democrat.

The high price dinners that are held from time to time are special events, and many involve fundraisers for conservative candidates. But the rallies held all across the country for various reasons and by grass roots groups are free to all who attend. It is this movement that is making a difference. We WILL win our country back. We must stay involved and do whatever we can to help vote out Marxists like Obama and his gang.

As you seem to define yourself as outside the tea party movement, the class envy is not unexpected. Go to a tea party (one of the ones in an area you approve of) and ask around if the people attending would like it is all people were on the same finacial level, and you will see that most are glad some people are more monetarily well off than they are.

Here's hoping there is a tea party close enough to your home so you can walk their with your ice chest and p&j sammich.
