Peggy Noonan: Is Rick Perry too macho?
Hot Air ^ | August 25, 2011 | Allahpundit

I can’t shake the feeling that this column might not be well received by the base.

She’s referring, of course, to his comments about Bernanke’s near-treason and offhand musings about secession:

Mr. Perry’s primary virtue for the Republican base is that he means it. He comes across as a natural conservative, Texas Division, who won’t be changing his mind about his basic premises any time soon. His professed views don’t seem to be an outfit he can put on and take off at will. In this of course he’s the anti-Romney. Unlike Ms. Bachmann, he has executive experience, three terms as governor of a state with 25 million people.

His primary flaw appears to be a chesty, quick-draw machismo that might be right for an angry base but wrong for an antsy country. Americans want a president who feels their anger without himself walking around enraged…

[T]he nation is roiling and restive. After Mr. Obama was elected, the right became angry, feisty, and created a new and needed party, the tea party. The right was on fire. The next time a Republican wins, and that could be next year, it will be the left that shows real anger, with unemployment high and no jobs available and government spending and services likely to be cut. The left will be on fire. The only thing leashing them now is the fact of Mr. Obama.

So there will be plenty of new angers out there. It probably won’t be helpful if the next president is someone likely to add to the drama with a hot temperament or carelessness.

Once upon a time she was regarded as a communications expert of sorts but since the ‘08 election she has sounded like the lost 5th member of the Sex & The City cast, pining for an ideal man who doesn’t exist.

Notice how the cartoon compares Perry to Romney and not Obama

It’s just ironic that Noonan wrote this article. Evidently she didn’t do much research or she would’ve found out that Rick Perry was a cheerleader at A&M, not your ordinary football jock. If you’re going to prattle on about somebody, you’d think one might do a little research.

The reason I can speak about true sons of the soil is that I was raised in a family of them just like Rick Perry. His background is exactly like ours. They have the ability to be aggressive and will set you on your behind with direct speaking when the fight is on, but most of the time they are just gentle giants that can be a little intimidating to those not used to the ‘type’. Rick Perry is the real deal, not a Connecticut implant. He’s going to speak directly, he’s not going to pander to little sensitivities, and he’s going to talk like a Texan, not a smarmy smoothe NEastern Ivy leaguer. The elitists are just going to HATE that.

I read your post 3 times - something about you being upset with Rush's stand-in for being sympathetic to Perry?

Is your first language hyroglifics?

Real CONSERVATIVE men don't order 12 year old girls to suffer (opting out being a bureaucratic nightmare) 3 painful government hypodermic injections or give illegal aliens the gift of in state benefits—or say they are just FINE with homosexual marriage in NY..

Well and if you look back in his history, he wanted a ticket headed by KARL ROVE in 2008... says a lot...

Truth telling to you is hyroglifics? (hieroglyphics?)
Perhaps you need a Rosetta Stone to translate my words so as to be understandable to the obtuse.

If the trolls hit the Palin threads as hard as they hit Perry....well they’d be banned, we’ve seen that.

Noonan got a job writing speeches and a column because she came along when you had to be seen to be hiring girls. She wasn’t and isn’t qualified for either job. Her education at an expensive, no-name private college that is far less demanding than Texas A & M certainly didn’t give her the ability to do serious policy analysis. Yet, she regularly bloviates on politics as if her emotional reactions to candidates had genuine value. The WSJ and other publications that run her column should be ashamed of printing her useless blather.

There are women who actually have something interesting and worthwhile to say, but who are shut out because drones like Noonan, Parker, and others are taking up print space and airtime that they don’t deserve.

Her skill set doesn’t really include policy analysis. She was supposed to write speeches supporting the existing policies.

She thinks that she learned from that. She didn’t. ...and I hate her flowery, over wordy style. It makes me want to throw up.

Best rant I’ve read in months. And he does my favorite Geico ad. Added “jackwagon” to our vocabulary.

Gunny Sgt Ermey is also great in that History Channel show about all kinds of weaponry.
