Sunbathing in Alexandria may soon be a thing of the past, at least if some Egyptian Islamist politicians have their way. clearpxl

Egypt's tourism industry has suffered a severe blow since the outburst of anti-regime demonstrations in January. But that did not stop the Freedom and Justice Party, the political wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, from demanding stricter regulations over what tourists can do and wear while visiting the country. The party is urging officials to ban skimpy swimwear and the consumption of alcohol on Egyptian street

"This is how things began in Iran," Hani Henry, a psychology professor at the American University in Cairo, told The Media Line. "The moderate youth wanted to implement changes, but the Mullah's hijacked the revolution. The same thing is now happening here in Egypt with the Muslim Brotherhood. It makes me sick to my stomach."

What did Obama know, and when did he know it?

Yep, will Obama ever be called out on his support of overthrowing Mubarak?

Obama has repeatedly praised the “Arab spring”. I’ve always thought that we need to be careful what we wish for, because we don’t know what’s going to happen in these countries. We can’t just assume that some sort of parliametary democracy is going to replace the dictators.

It’s quite possible that the Muslim Brotherhood will take over in Egypt. That could be very dangerous to world peace, and to Israel.

Ditto in Libya. The rebels who are pushing out Qadafi are thought to be allied with Al Qaeda and Muslim Brotherhood. While Qadafi was a monster, can we really say it would be a good thing for Libya to be an Al Qaeda state????

We really have to reserve judgement and see what happens in these countries after these revolutions have run their course.

Obama himself incited the riots and insurrection over there when he did his mid-east tour. People forget that he called for and encouraged the change. ooops!

Oddly enough, Egyptian moderates and secularists may have no other alternative than to go Mubarak on the fanatics, hopefully hitting them so hard that they are completely put out of the picture, much less politics.

At the same time, there is no help to be found with socialist practices, as every one of those they embrace will make things worse for everyone. So their best bet, not ironically at all, would be for a version of the Tea Party. Much less government and low toleration for fanatics.

"Beach tourism must take the values and norms of our society into account," Muhammad Saad Al-Katatny, secretary-general of Freedom and Justice , told Egyptian tourism officials on Monday. "We must place regulations on tourists wishing to visit Egypt, which we will announce in advance."

I have to say that my sillier side was thinking, Yes! ban the wearing of skimpy bikinis during alcohol consumption by the men in Egypt. ;)

Seriously, though, this is the beginning of a tragedy, not over anytime soon. Blame belongs to the socialists, such as our esteemed Golfer In Chief, his cohorts, and the islamists ad nauseum.
