Romney, Dems Look to Weaponize Bachmann (Hopes Bachmann Will “Rip [Perry’s] Eyes Out”)
FoxNews.com ^ | August 30, 2011 | Chris Stirewalt

Mitt Romney is going into the lion’s den today.

Romney is neither a veteran nor a Texan, but he is heading to San Antonio, Texas to address the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention one day after Gov. Rick Perry, who is both a veteran and a Texan, fired up the crowd with a patriotic paean to American exceptionalism.

But with poll after poll showing Romney slipping into Perry’s wake, the former Massachusetts governor is keen to show that he’s not backing down. The latest CNN survey has Perry nearly doubling Romney among all candidates running or considering a run and with a share of voters larger than Romney and third-place Rep. Michele Bachmann combined when only declared candidates were offered.

While Romney has a low and slow strategy that relies on his presidential plausibility and big fundraising to outlast more exciting contenders, including Perry, that strategy would cease to be viable if the insiders and money men backing Romney came to believe his candidacy was doomed. To avoid being marginalized, Romney must demonstrate to the political press that he has a plan to knock down Perry.

(snip)

This is backed up in Romney’s oft-repeated implicit argument that Perry has spent an awful lot of time in government for a guy who opposes big government, while Romney spent only four years in public office (Not for lack of trying, though. Romney lost previous bids for a Senate seat and the presidency.)

But the heart of the Romney strategy seems to be to stand back and allow Bachmann to tear apart Perry – to “rip his eyes out,” as she did to Gov. Tim Pawlenty.

“Bachmann came against a wimp. Perry, on the other hand, is no wimp...he can dish it back harder than Michelle ever thought of. Perry would rather not but if that is what it takes...Look out, Michelle.”

Aww c’mon, Bachmann only retaliates when rocks are thrown at her. She doesn’t start it - she finishes it.

If Perry criticized Bachmann, she could come back with: “How come YOU, Gov. Perry, criticized the AZ immigration policy?”

Now there are a like of things I like about Perry, but there are also too many things to keep him off my short list.

Perry is not exactly a field mouse like Pawlenty. And, for her part, Bachmann may have claws, but she also has areas of exposed underbelly, and Perry has claws too.
You're right about the comparison to Pawlenty being beyond ludicrous.

As for Bachmann, I sincerely hope that Perry just keeps his cool and lets her rant, maybe agree with some of what she says, gently disagree with her more outrageous attacks on him, and treat her more or less like a deranged wife at a divorce proceedings.

The fact is, he can GOVERN; she can only squawk. The best way for him to nail down that difference is to keep his cool.

Keep your cool, Rick. Keep your cool.

And then, of course, when Palin endorses Perry, all the Bachmann squawking in the world isn't going to amount to a tit on a titmouse. As long as Perry keeps his cool.

Kazan, don’t worry about caww. He’s not going to be convinced, and that’s not important.

The thing I like about Perry is that he is a conservative with broad appeal. Broad never means total. So he loses caww. Too bad, but oh well. But he gains many more. Many more than Bachmann or any of the others could ever hope to gain.

We need a Sherman’s March To The Sea against the Obama Regime.

Perry and only Perry can lead that. And he doesn’t need caww’s help, though I wonder, once Palin signs on maybe caww will reconsider.

I guess you don’t understand the basic dynamics of these things. The front runner has no reason to EVER attack the 2nd tier players.

If there is a dust-up between Bachmann and Perry, Bachmann will HAVE to start it. What would Perry have to gain by starting it?

The front runner just has to be presidential-looking and attack Barack. And that’s what Perry will do.

Anyone who flies, or has flown, military fighter aircraft makes more critical decisions in 30 seconds than Obama (or Romney) makes in a career. Other than the addled McCain, I am thinking of GHWB, GWB, Perry.
I think McCain suffered brain-damage in captivity. Seriously.

So are you saying that when Perry is no longer the front runner, he will attack Bachmann?

You know there was another ‘crowd’ who cheered for Bar-ra-bass as well ...when there was another who stood among them for what was true and right. The crowd yelled “crucify him, destroy him....they always do.

The “crowd” cried out for Obama as well....and just like Bar-ra-bus...they got what they asked for. “Crowds” always do.

Anyone who aligns him/herself with Islam in order to advance their political career as Perry has done, does not have America's best interest in their heart.........Muslims never ever migrate to the West to assimilate and integrate but instead only to eventually subjugate and dominate and to make Islam supreme via mass demographic conquest.

There are plenty of Conservative candidates to choose from who would never, ever, do that. It is a fatal flaw and freedom fighters that ignore that flaw betray themselves, and the cause of freedom.

The next president has to be a candidate that is truly aware of the threat of Islam....Rick Perry has been in the race for only a short while and he's already doing Obama level Internet scrubbings and attempts to hide his associations.

You can sell Perry all you want but he is clearly allowing the Islamic push, and enabling and participating with it in his state........ again....Muslims never ever migrate to the West to assimilate and integrate but instead only to eventually subjugate and dominate and to make Islam supreme via mass demographic conquest. People had better wake up to that truth.

Presidential elections are crowded activities. If you can’t stand the crowds, turn your tv and computer off and take a hike in the woods. Go sh*t with the bears. No crowds there. (Although one bear can feel like a crowd if you’re too close, so sh*t carefully.)

Typically Freepers have reasoned and informative responses....when they have a leg to stand on....otherwise they resort to off handed remarks to buffer their otherwise weak position.....their emotions get unhinged. A 'hot' kitchen in elections goes hand in hand....food fights on the otherhand are childrens games.

And typically you go on and on about “crowds” which somehow proves (to you) the rightness of your argument (unstated) and then when someone (me) scoffs at your non-argument you get all huffy and start throwing around the nasty (to you) appellation “children”.

Fine. Suffer the little children. Especially when they run in crowds.

(Did I cover all your hot-button bases?)

Romneys correct in his statements on Islam...seems he identifies it for what it is....but will he stand against it...no... I think not since his church is chumming up with them....just as others who are following the Islamic lead to falsely appear willing to integrate....but will never assimulate. There agenda has and will always be to convert others to Islam behind their actions of service...it's in their books on how to convert and submit America.

Additionally...Jihad is a misunderstood word..... Most jihad in America is done with money and persuasion, not violence. ....It is jihad that fills Washington DC with money to buy influence...... It is jihad that causes our textbooks in our schools to never mention anything negative about Islam.....It is Jihad to do community services and they focus on battered people, homeless, underprivledged, the poor, and any who have been down on their luck because these are the most vulnerable to be open to Islamic teaching.

Their other "targets" are teachers....more than students in our educational system. Here's a Quote from their manuels to convert Americans.

"In America's Educational Institutions the teacher shall be the top target....they exert a lot of influence over their students. If they are convinced about Islam as a way of life they can motivate their students to that affect in great numbers......Teachers will therefore be the "special" targets of the Islamic Movement. ...contacts with teachers will always have a preferance over others".

That is why in Texas they stipulated to teach the teachers about Islam so they in turn would teach the students. It's hand in glove with their movement to conquer America.

Islam has two views of Christians (duality again). The first view is that Christianity and Islam are brother religions. The second view is that Christians must change their religion to meet the demands of Islam...... Modern Christians want to believe that there is a bridge between Islam and Christianity..... But the history of Islam shows that 'Islam first deceives and then annihilates Christianity' or any other form of religion in it's wake.. For 1400 years Islam has destroyed Christian lands.
