An Obama Clock app is jockeying for position with National Geographics World Atlas atop the iTunes app stores reference best-seller list, partly because conservatives are eager to monitor President Barack Obamas skidding approval numbers and shrinking calendar, says the apps designer.
Liberals dont like the app because it shows Obamas numbers trending down, said Jeremy Ross, even though his app just publishes publicly available data. The app can also be used to display the same stats on future GOP presidents.
Ross, a California aerospace engineer, cut his sleep time down to 5 hours per day to develop the app, which users rate at 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Most of my friends are very left and strongly discouraged me from starting this app, he said. My best friend hates this app. Ross added that his own mother, also politically liberal, isnt happy about it.
Theres almost a sense of, Well you should not do that, he told The Daily Caller. I try to explain that it is not meant to hurt the president, but is a way of monitoring and keeping someone accountable I would like this to be more of a Presidents Clock, Ross said.
The app displays Rasmussen Reports polling data on Obamas popularity along with the U.S. unemployment rate, the gasoline price index, housing values, the national debt and the amount of time remaining until the next presidential inauguration.
Ross launched the 99-cent app on August 4. (RELATED: Despite protests, Obama likely still has green energy vote for 2012)
Theres an increasing sense out there that people are not giving up on hope but wanting more change It was always meant to be bipartisan, but it has taken a conservative following, Ross said.
Nearly all the reviews are favorable, and most come from conservatives, he said.
Ross said hes charging 99 cents for the app in order to prevent its ratings from being downgraded by people who dislike it for political reasons.
There’s an app for that!
He lost sleep to create THAT?
It looks like something I could program in about 3 hours
This will likely speed up the FCC’s quest for iphone app neutrality.
It’s not very neutral.
AWE-some!
That is so cool and even though I admit I’m an app junkie, if I had to sit and watch the “days remaining”, I’d get so depressed and antsy that I *might* hang myself....LOL
Just put it on my iPhone.
This is the best app I’ve downloaded since Angry Birds!
Can you add this to the Mac Ping list?
I can use it to prod the liberals around me!
Obama clock?
What does it do? Lie about the time?
It runs three hours behind. If you disagree with the time on the app, it calls you a racist.
What does an “app” developer make on something like this?
May be a silver lining to the Obama debacle for this guy...he may just get rich.

Ah, the joy of seeing the number of days count down...but there’s still enough time left for him to do a lot of damage.
BTW, there’s a Twitter rumor that Fidel Castro has finally kicked the bucket. Maybe we need an app to keep tabs on all Marxist dictators and would-be dictators worldwide.

Erod asked me to ping the Apple/Mac/iOS ping list to tell you all about this new iPhone and iPad app that will keep us all up-to-date on vital statistics on Obama and how many days until the next inauguration! It’s only 99¢ and sounds like a GREAT way to know that “This To Shall Soon Be Over!” and how soon!
It also has some other great statistics of the Obama age: the unemployment rate up to the minute! The latest spot price of Gasoline, and the Federal deficit. Great reminder app. Libs hate it!
It’s listed as number one now lol
