Sarah Palin Appearance at Tea Party Rally in Iowa ‘No Longer Confirmed’
WSJ ^ | August 31, 2011 | Danny Yadron

Posted on 08/31/2011 8:11:56 AM PDT by markomalley

Sarah Palin canceled her Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak.

Ms. Palin is known for last-minute schedule changes that whipsaw supporters and media across the country. But the latest decision is puzzling. Ms. Palin’s speech at the rally was viewed as her most high-profile appearance of the summer, fueling speculation she was indeed plotting to run for the Republican presidential nomination.

Attendees were reportedly traveling from across the U.S. to attend the rally in Iowa, which holds the nation’s first nominating contest next year.

The former governor will now appear at a Friday event in Des Moines sponsored by the group Conservatives4Palin. It is currently scheduled for 8 p.m. at The Machine Shed Restaurant, though the location will probably have to be changed, the person close to Ms. Palin said. Ms. Palin is still scheduled to appear at a Tea Party Express tour stop Monday in New Hampshire.

Ms. Palin may still hold an event Saturday, the person said, though she has no firm plans. It’s also possible she could still attend the Indianola tea party rally, the person said.

The former governor’s team decided to back out Tuesday night after rally organizers re-invited Ms. O’Donnell to speak on stage. Organizers had booked Ms. O’Donnell, who lost her 2010 bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Delaware, to speak but quickly withdrew the invitation in an effort to avoid controversy.

Building the anticipation.

The entire GOP field is a vacuum. She can take her time.

How Dare you Suggest Sarah has Intelligence and just maybe smarter than the MSM would have us believe, You sir need to get in the back of the bus and support Perry, he is from Texas you know, and Texas Pwnds all other States, we might just as well be called the United States of Texas, or maybe we could support Mitt Romney, the MSM Tells me he has the best chance of Beating Obama, or Maybe Jon Huntsman because he is Civil towards the Libs. Do I Need a /Sarc tag?

After her performance on Piers Morgan and the absurdity of her “sexual harassment” charge against him who wouldn’t have an issue with COD?

Just my opinion, but it is becoming quite clear that the ‘powers that be’ on BOTH sides of the aisle are throwing everything but the kitchen sink at Palin because she has a TRACK RECORD for rooting out corruption in both parties in Alaska, and they do NOT want her in the White House.

I wasn’t thrilled that Palin and O’Donnell would be on the same stage. It’s a good move on her part. It also puts teeth behind the Aug 23 post on her site that says those predicting anything about her are off base.

I’m definitely uncertain now about whether she now intends to enter the race. She honestly might see her role this time around as helping a solid conservative on to victory.

I can also see her entering late if any leading conservative falters or has skeletons stumble out of a closet.

“There is NO WAY she is going to be anyone’s running mate, unless they are intent on losing. I believe there is no chance Perry would ever pick Palin. Never going to happen. But you are right—the speculation will happen.”

I agree that I don’t “think”(I have given up predictions) Sarah Palin will be anyone’s VP. However, I disagree with your reason why. I just don’t think Palin would ever agree to be anyone’s second banana again. She has already been there and done that. She has grown beyond being a second fiddle.

Wait... people were defending O’Donnell and attacking Piers Morgan. Its not until Saint Sarah has a problem with O’Donnell that people are finally acknowledging what others have been saying since her tilting at windmills started.

Indeed, Karl Rove is vilified almost entirely because of what he said during the O’Donnell campaign.

Come on, folks...how many times are we going to fall for this 'unnamed source' bullsh*t?

Interesting - title and claim has been changed. It now reads:

Sarah Palin Appearance at Tea Party Rally in Iowa ‘No Longer Confirmed’

By Danny Yadron

This post has been corrected.

Sarah Palin’s Saturday appearance at a tea party rally in Indianola, Iowa, is on hold, a person close the former Alaska governor told The Wall Street Journal.

The person said Ms. Palin’s appearance was “no longer confirmed” and cited “continual lying” from event organizers at Tea Party of America, including a recent mixup over whether former U.S. Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell of Delaware would also speak...

Correction: Sarah Palin put her appearance at a Tea Party of America rally in Indianola, Iowa, on hold but did not cancel it, as incorrectly reported in an earlier version of this post.

The pundits are certainly salivating for a cat fight. Have participated in Tea Party Patriots, Tea Party Express, Patriot Action Network which is an affiliate Tea Party, but never heard of Tea Party of America, must be an Iowa group.

1) Never believe anything at face value about Palin in the media that does not originate with Palin herself.

2) If in fact she did cancel the appearance, have the decency to await an explanation at to why she did cancel before drawing conclusions.

3) It should be noted that Palin has been quite savvy about the who, what, where and when of making appearances. It is the media that has stoked the caldron of confusion. They have made a point of taking inaccurate information, treating it as gospel and opining as to the fitness of Palin as a potential president based upon their inaccurate reporting.

The media has a vested interest in keeping Palin out of the White House and will stop at nothing to keep her from getting there. They are as wild with consternation about her campaign as Palin supporters are excited about it.

All of this Bachmann, Romney and Perry stuff is a silly side show. It has always been Palin. Should she decide to run, it will be she that will be the nominee. If she is the nominee, she will wipe the floor with the Traitor-in-Chief.

Of that, I have no doubt whatsoever.

Nope you are correct! I am ashamed of by bad self. I thought FR was the last bastion of critical thinkers on the web, but it appears that many here are just typical knee jerk lib thinkers afterall.

I must confess my mistaken belief that we were too smart to fall for trolling and rampant idiocy, but it seems that the ranks are rife with it.

Therefore, being a like-minded sheep, I will renounce all intelligence and allow the media to dictate my candidates for me because I, like many on this thread, am far too stupid to think for myself ;)

>> But logically, those are the only two possibilities......

Isn’t there a third possibility? Doesn’t she earn her living as a commentator/pundit? And isn’t one of her interests to advance conservative politics in general?

She might be going to where the action is simply to *further her own interests*, even if those interests don’t involve running for POTUS this cycle. She, like everyone, is endowed by our Creator with the freedom to pursue happiness, no?

I would believe that she is going to get behind a conservative in the race if there were one garnering more than 10% in the polls.
