Perry tells NH no to border fence

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry says he opposes a fence along the U.S. border with Mexico.

Speaking to hundreds of New Hampshire voters at a private reception Saturday afternoon, the Texas governor says a fence would be ineffective and take too long to build.

The comments, which produced one angry shout, expose a rift with some conservative voters over Perry's immigration record. Tea party activists in Texas have been particularly upset by his steady opposition to the fence. He also signed a law giving illegal immigrants in-state tuition for Texas universities.

No. Up until recently, I worked at a public school and my kids attended public school. Just because you haven’t seen the letters doesn’t mean your teachers handed them out or that they found their way home. You could contact your school nurse to see if the vaccine is available there. It was shipped to our school in Feburary but ymmv.

Perry does not believe in the Constitution of this country, and he wants to be president. The man is a frigging joke.

So be it, so let it be written, so let it be said. A vote for Perry is a vote for Obummer.

We’re in deep trouble. If Perry and ROmney falter, they will pull out Chris Christie who is to the LEFT of BOTH of them.

You and the once zotted troll Drew are correct. Border security is useless we just need to enforce immigration laws. NOT! That’ll happen, right. We need a wall now. Walls are non political! They work whether a RINO or a COMMIE is the President.

Two eight foot chain link fences 200 feet! Apart, simple to cross just guess where the mines are.

Before we go wasting billions of taxpayer dollars building this fence - which would be almost 2,000 miles long - why don't we go ask the Israelis how successful they've been in preventing smugglers from tunnelling under the steel and concrete barrier they built between Egypt and the Gaza Strip.

That's a pretty formidable wall there and it extends along the entire border between Egypt and the Gaza Strip - all 7 miles of it - and yet the Israelis (and the Egyptians up until Mubarak was deposed) could not stop smugglers from tunnelling under the wall.

If the Israelis cannot stop smugglers from tunnelling under a 7-mile wall that is as heavily fortified as that, then what on God's green Earth makes anyone but stark raving mad lunatic think that the US can stop smugglers from tunnelling under what would be a 2,000 mile wall, no matter how fortified?

Concertina wire and an electric fence would be needed for starters, and then a good seismic sensing system to intercept would-be tunnelers. It can be done. At what price is another question. You can bet Mexico would squeal its sombrero off.

It might be cheaper to electronically police this border, sending squads where needed, rather than building something like a fence or wall to physically keep the border closed while unattended.

If a totally perfect solution were needed you’d have a point. One that could cut the flow by an order of magnitude would be of great help.

I have no problem of putting the fence on the other side of those that object, they can simple live in the wonderful mecca of Mexico.

Because jerk face the wall between the US and Mexico is about 90% un inhabited. The Gaza is densely populated. A lot of structures to hide tunnel efforts.

The wall separating Israel and the West Bank is a better example.

"NO MAN'S ZONES" is my terminology... I used to explain we were where we weren't supposed to be...it wasn't a park!

But if you walked in a park where the Berlin Wall ran, and just climbed under barriers, you are quite lucky you weren't shot.

What the heck do you think I've been saying?

So, where did the guard yell at you? At the Brandenburg crossing

Yes...but it wasn't a crossing at the time...don't ask me what he said, I don't speak German but I got his message!

(where they were constantly shifting the large concrete barricades around all the time to fool folks who might try the "drive a truck through it" trick)

I didn't see the concrete blocks because it wasn't a crossing when I was there. The concrete blocks were being used at Checkpoint Charlie.

Austria ~ Hungary's border fence with Austria was not removed until May 1989.

I was there, also, but I'll just say that this is where they had tow guards ride together so that one wouldn't escape. I wouldn't call it a wall...the road just ended at the border and there was a skull and crossbones sign on a fence where the road ended. That was near Roost, Austria...in the middle of nowhere.

That’s pretty much an idiotic and naive prediction of what would actually happen.

Only a lying RINO like Hispandering Perry would say a fence would not work. Ask Israel.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Any fence that can keep Mexicans out can be used to keep Americans in.

Please remember the Soviet Union and their border fences. We have a communist literally occupying the White House. You trust him or any one in the Democrat-Commie Party? I don't!

Use your noggins. Let the man explain his thinking on this. If you stay at home you are reelecting Zero.

Nope...If you don't vote for a pro-America candidate who among many things will shut down the border to illegals, YOU are reelecting Zero...

Don't expect us to vote for your Rino in the primaries...YOU vote for our pro America conservative, or live with Obama...

If he was, he would have done it by now using the powers he has as governor. But he has not.

Which means he would not do anything else to secure the border. No troops patrolling the border, no guard towers, no armed drones, no unarmed drones, no land mines, no dmz, no nothing

You want to help pay for it? That is the job of the feds...but they are too busy shutting down our drilling rigs and refineries!

I'm all for allowing armed American citizen volunteers. But with the Marxist Kenyan or some other pro-ILLEGAL alien loving president that's not about to happen.

As for electronically policing the border, that might work unless we have a liberal jackarse in the White House who decides end the "virtual fence".

A wall/fence would be just as effective regardless who was in office. It's worked in San Diego and would work elsewhere.
