Amanda Knox likely to be acquitted, says prosecutor

An Italian court has rejected a request for new testing of crucial DNA evidence in the Amanda Knox appeal, as a prosecutor predicted the American will be acquitted of the Meredith Kercher murder.

Court appointed experts have criticised the way the original forensic investigation was carried out by police, raising hopes 24-year-old Knox and her former boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, 27, will be cleared.

Meredith, 21, from Coulsdon, Surrey, was in Perugia as part of her Leeds University and had only been in Italy for two months before she was brutally murdered in 2007. Knox and Sollecito were jailed in December 2009 but have always proclaimed their innocence.

A third defendant, small-time drug dealer Rudy Guede, an immigrant from the Ivory Coast, was also jailed in connection with the brutal killing. He was jailed for 30 years, although this was later cut to 16.

Prosecutor Manuela Comodi said: "There is an ill wind blowing in this case. The judge and his assistant are clearly against us. I can see both Knox and Sollecito being freed which will be a shame as they are both involved."

Key to the case is a 12in kitchen knife found at Sollecito's apartment on which DNA from Knox was on the handle and Meredith's was on the blade.

“Amanda Knox likely to be acquitted”

That tends to happen when you don’t have any...what do you call it?...oh yeah, evidence.

“which will be a shame as they are both involved”

Oh, “involved” were they? Funny how you, the prosecutor of all people, wouldn’t go ahead and say they were guilty. Or at least responsible. But “involved”? That’s not saying much.

Occam's Razor says the simplest explanation is most likely the correct explanation.

Which is simpler?

A lowlife loser that women avoided like the plague committing a rape and murder all by himself?

Or a young couple of a totally different class conspiring with a lowlife loser that women avoided like the plague to commit a rape and murder?

Amanda Knox was undoubtedly a slut.

Some people think that means she is therefore guilty of anything she is accused of.

What a messed up case. Just did a little bit of research. They found Guede's DNA inside the victim. That sounds pretty probative. They found Amanda Knox's DNA on the handle of a knife that maybe, just maybe, could have made one of the wounds in the victim. If you went into one of our kitchens, wouldn't you be able to find our DNA on at least one of the knives in our knife rack? This case gives me the creeps - a young woman was murdered in cold blood. Sounds like one of the people convicted had something to do with it. As to Amanda Knox, who can be sure one way or the other?

Travel abroad at your own risk.

Travel anywhere at your own risk.

If you ever manage to attract the attention of "law enforcement", you are screwed, whether you are in McIntosh, NM or Rome.

True.
From what I read Knox exhibited some very odd behavior in the police station when brought in for questioning. In addition to being a spoiled slut, she may be a nut.

That tends to happen when you don’t have any...what do you call it?...oh yeah, evidence.

Lots of drugs, lots of blood, lots of DNA, lots of knives and footprints all together, lots of lies exposed as lies, lots of lawyering and money from mom and dad, lots of time for political pressure and payoffs.

And one very bloody, butchered, dead victim right smack in the middle of all of it.

But hey, Amanda's got nice tits and acts crazy, so let her go.

“Lots of drugs”

Irrelevant.

“lots of blood”

Yeah, it was a murder. Anything tying her blood to it, or any blood on her? You know, actual evidence of her guilt, rather than something happening where she lived.

“lots of DNA”

Same issues.

“lots of knives”

Everyone has knives, big deal. Which was the murder weapon? Do they even know?

“lots of lies exposed as lies”

Blah, blah, blah.

“lots of lawyering and money from mom and dad”

Irrelevant.

“lots of time for political pressure and payoffs”

On which end? You can use corruption as an excuse all you want for why she may be let go, but doesn’t it work just as well for why she was convicted in the first place?

“one very bloody, butchered, dead victim right smack in the middle of all of it”

Duh.

“But hey, Amanda’s got nice tits and acts crazy, so let her go.”

You have it the wrong way around. This, plus the fact that she was a foreigner, is why she was convicted. Well, more nice face than nice “tits,” as her tits have not become public to my knowledge.

"Well, more nice face than nice “tits,”"

Which ever it is, this guard looks like she's about to give Knox a jump.

A few months back Rolling Stone had a fairly thorough report on case history. Amanda does indeed sound nutty, not dangerously so though. The prosecutor on the other hand sounds dangerously nutty.

Oh yeah...I would often change MY story every five minutes when asked "where were you on this night?"

Guilty.

“Oh yeah...I would often change MY story every five minutes when asked ‘where were you on this night?’

For those of you unfamiliar with how easy it is for everyone, including the innocent, to lie; and how police and prosecutors, especially in more corrupt countries than our own, can manipulate and confuse you; let me ask this question. Assuming she committed the crime, would it even be possible to committ it without leaving behind physical evidence? If the answer is no, her lying becomes infinitely less persuasive.
