Al Gore Says Don’t Gorge on Meat
Natural Products Marketplace ^ | September 6, 2011 | by Sandy Almendarez

My last blog focused on Bill Clinton’s vegan diet; and now, Al Gore is telling us not to eat meat. It seems that whole 1994 White House administration is telling us that we need to start with meat—or the lack of it—when it comes to health.

Vice President Al Gore said consuming meat contributes greatly to global warming, and he recommended people cut back on the amount of meat in the diet in order to help reduce the environmental impact.

Gore didn’t say he himself gave up eating meat or that veganism is the way to go, but he said the increases of a meat-based diet is part of the problem.

Whereas I didn’t think it was the lack of meat and dairy that helped Bill Clinton get health, I agree with Gore that evidence shows meat consumption is considerably more taxing on the environment than vegetables. But the big question here is who is next? Perhaps Janet Reno will take on the antibiotic issue in meat, or maybe Madeleine Albright will come out with a plan to reduce E. Coli. At this rate, I’ll be blogging about it next week.

algore, the original fatassed lizard faced liar is telling us to back off on eating? I reckon that fits in with his telling us to quit using energy while he consumes enough for 250 households.

Al swims with his mouth open, gorging on the krill trapped in his baleen plates.

Adolph Hitler was a vegan too.

But even Hitler didn’t have the gall to say it was because of methane.

Hitler had a special Doctor to help him with his gas problem ,maybe be some meat would have fixed the gas problem

“This is a great reason to occasionally exterminate cows and consume them. Unless he’s arguing for the total extinction of these fine animals?”

Cows are not natural creatures. If we didn’t eat them they wouldn’t exist. So, yes, he is arguing for their extinction. Or at least their near-extinction; perhaps they could live on in zoos.

Reducing meat consumption is not a bad thing if it cuts out fat and grease. Healthy lean cuts are OK. And milk and sterile eggs have none of the ethical quandaries of “don’t kill”. But thinking that a dairy goat has a worse life in a tended pen than running wild and eaten by a lion or wolf is insanity.
I attended a vegetarian cooking class and listened to a debate on the ethics of fake meat products, like veggie-corn dogs and ribletts (which my kids enjoy). The teacher finally shut up the argument by saying anything that led to fewer animals killed was OK with her, and that fake meat products, while unethical in concept, could be a stepping stone to more acceptable vegetarian and vegan foods.
Not eating meat wasn’t good enough - it couldn’t even LOOK like meat and be acceptable.

By way of correction, Gore advises we “cut back on the amount of meat,” which means some cows will live. So there’s that.

“And milk and sterile eggs have none of the ethical quandaries of ‘don’t kill’”

Thos are only ethical problems for the simple and overly sensitive and overly rational. The rest of us don’t care. Anyway, “quandaries” would persist over chicken and cow slavery.

That was my first response while reading the title of the thread. That fat toad is going to tell me not to eat meat. Don’t think so.

“thinking that a dairy goat has a worse life in a tended pen than running wild and eaten by a lion or wolf is insanity”

Also, the descendants of slaves live better here than they likely would in Africa. Doesn’t mean slavery was okay. Being hunted by lions is the price of freedom. Would you have them trade a little security for a lifetime of servitude?
