'Events are being held across Scotland to mark the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Faith leaders and politicians are to take part in a peace walk in Edinburgh.
In Glasgow, an inter-faith service of remembrance will be held at Cathcart Old Parish Church, and the first minister will attend a service at St Nicholas Kirk in Aberdeen.
Alex Salmond has also written to the US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, expressing Scotland's condolences.
He said: "Our thoughts are with the families and friends of all those who lost their lives on that darkest of days.
"At this time we pay tribute to the spirit, dignity and resilience shown by the American people in facing this most appalling of terrorist atrocities.
"As well as the despair of loss, there is also the humanity and sacrifice of those who bravely risked their lives to help others."
The leader of the Catholic church in Scotland, Cardinal Keith O'Brien, Bishop Brian Smith, Rabbi David Rose, Imam Mohammad Sajjad, Imam Sohail and Wege Singh all plan to join the Edinburgh walk.
Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon is to attend the Glasgow service.'

Amen brother. After 9-11 a normal nation would have taken a hard line,but instead we turned into a country of PC pansies who think that Islamic nutjobs did this because they were poor and didnt have new Tv sets.
Then we elected the Islamic lover for POTUS and in a very short time he managed to shame the memories of the day and those who died defending this land. He bows before his Islamic master while saying “Sorry” to everyone who would listen. He hugs tyrants while dissing old friends.

Well, what can you say. Leftist ignorance and hate has infiltrated every Western country, including Scotland - some more than others.
I’ve read recently that American Tea Party ideals are beginning to catch on around the globe. We’ve already seen this with the English Defence League.
I’m sure there are plenty of Scots who have had it with the rampant leftism ruining their country, and who are ready to start making a noise about it. Surely, there are still some patriotic warriors in the land of my ancient forefathers.
A disgrace, and one undereported here.
