We have seen this game before. Lamestream media polls showing the GOP candidate ahead with the election closing in, only to be stunned (really?) by a very different result. WeinerBoy's district (NY-9) is heavily Democrat. Schmuckie Schumer is doing robocalls by the thousands today. The DNC is running "Tea Party Turner" ads non-stop in NYC, proclaiming he would end Social Securiy and Medicare.
Yet this weekend there were 3 threads: "Turner up by 6", "Turner 47-41", "Turner on his way to surprising victory".
Please do not believe this. As Elliot Ness said (in movie incarnation, anyway): "Never stop fighting 'till the fight is done!" GET OUT THE DAMN VOTE! FIGHT UNTIL THE LAST POLL CLOSES, AND KEEP FIGHTING UNTIL THE LAST ACORN 'POLL' IS SEALED IN HEFTY BAGS. Assume the worst corruption possible. And be prepared to do some trickery of your own. Nothing has been won yet.
[I am a 13 yr FR vet, but this is my first ever vanity. My apologies in advance.]
“be prepared to do some trickery of your own”?
Huh?
Like what kind of trickery ?
Rat-style fraud ?
Maybe some people like to coast to a win when they think they are ahead, but most people fight all the harder when they can sense victory.
Most people, in fact, give up when they think victory is unattainable, which is the entire tenor of your post. You are discouraging people and that will create a sense of foreboding and cause more people to stop pushing than any number of optimistic threads.
Good point. Rats own NY. I predict that convenience stores will see I rise in the sale of Marlboros tomorrow on behalf of the homeless vote.
Exactly. People only want to support someone who has a chance of winning.
I appreciate your response. This might be different in that Jewish voters are fed up with Obama. Just look at recent stories about Israel. I think they may tip the scale for Turner because of the Obama backlash.
You are absolutely right. We had three DNC “anti-Turner” ads on in a row! Each ad had a slight variation, but the same message. . .Turner will basically take away everything near and dear. You would think the Democratic base would recognize this propaganda. This nonsense is repeated for every campaign, and it is completely false, but it appears to work for the uneducated.

Tip O’Neill said, very wisely, that all politics is local. Weprin (the Democrat candidate) is an orthodox Jew and recently said some things that have upset the orthodox Jewish leadership in his district. As a result, several Jewish leaders have endorsed Turner. Former Mayor Ed Koch, a very respected politician in that part of the city, has also endorsed Turner.
The Obama malaise has hurt Weprin among the independents in the district, but his comments and the endorsement of Turner by local leaders looks to be making the difference in this race.
NEVER trust PPP!!!
Thank you.... This race is not a referendum. It’s distinctly local in nature, and as close as it is, it will be a toss up and the dem could still easily win.
Weprin doesn’t even live in the district. Not to worry. He will still win with close to 60% of the vote. This is just another one of those Charlie Brown and the football moments that arise during election time. We will all be disappointed again. Yes, all politics is local and the Dems run things in NY.
How close did Weprin get to 60%?
I will gladly eat humble pie.
