Palin takes aim at GOP presidential candidates
The Hill ^ | September 12, 2011 | Josh Lederman

Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.

"I knew there was something to it," Palin said of learning while she was Alaska's governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. "Now we're finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism."

A $5000 donation is a drop in the campaign war chest when you look at the numbers. Sarah is absolutely correct about the cronyism nature of the donation. It illustrates what she has been fighting against for 20 years. $5000 may be small peanuts in Texas politics, but many politicians work these small donations until they add up to big money. The donors use this money to insure that the government money keeps rolling in. And that government money (our tax money) winds up in the politician's war chest where it can earn new money through various investment schemes. Rick Perry needs to reject this system which is very disgusting to the American public. If he does not do that, then Sarah had better step in and run.

Palin is a handsomely paid member of the media.

And there you go again. All you do is throw out that point. Splat. And again, I have to ask, who do you think you're talking to? Are you expecting to turn people against Palin because she's making as much money as she can?

Palin’s Iowa speech debunks your assertions. If you cannot understand Palin... the fault lies in you.

1. Todd has quit his BP job twice now.

2. He was a Union Member for years...US Steel, I think??

Sometimes you have to look behind those "closed doors".

How many "candidates" are ACTUALLY paid $1,000,000 by the News Media??

“I notice the rabid attacks by Palin supporters on everyone who dares to dissent about her supernatural political powers is starting to diminish.”

Well maybe not so much. LOL! I give it another 6 weeks.

Isn’t it interesting how so many so called ‘conservatives’ begrudge a private citizen making money? As if they themselves would go silent in her position.

Someone needs to answer why Palin should abandon her income to placate PDS. Better yet, they should make a list of jobs for her they find acceptable and mail it to her. I really want to see that.

Conservative thinking, that ain’t.

"my gut feeling is we here don’t live in reality about this"

You are spot on. This is an echo chamber with narrow walls filled with screamers.

Bubba Clinton announced in October

Ronaldus Magnus announced in November.

The GOP is still trying to get Chubbie Christie to run.

Now some dingbats are operating on a double standard and attempting to force Sarah to announce now.

Who is begrudging Palin making money? I’m pointing out that she is making money, and that her comments should be viewed in that context.

She can’t have it both ways by claiming she can’t be bought while collecting a huge check from a TV network. Good for her, I applaud her cashing in on her fame and political career (which she quit).

Neither Clinton nor Reagan were paid members of the media, though. Palin is being paid while getting a bully pulpit, and the bonus for her is that she can’t be questioned.

I think she likes it that way, which is why I don’t think she’ll run.

He admitted it was a mistake because he's running for president and wants peoples votes. Did he apologize for implying that anybody who was against it wanted to kill young girls?

I know that if a liberal had done the same thing Perry had done everybody on this board would be screaming bloody murder. What Perry did was wrong and I, for one, am concerned.

Is there any other state that mandates this vaccination.

As far as Palin, she's entitled to comment on presidential candidates, whether she's running or not, just like you or me.

It's bizarre isn't it? And not only do they keep mentioning the money she makes, but they do it in typical lib fashion--just throwing it out there. No explanation of how it's terrible, just the expectation that somehow we will find it revolting. We're supposed to find it revolting. Weird. I really do have to wonder about these people.

“She quit”

PDS is an ugly thing. If you cannot wrap your head around the scenario, just repeat the Lefty meme over and over, click your heels 3 times and the magic unicorns will make Palin go away.

What exactly does a private citizen earning a good living have to do with her political comments? Class warfare much?

You really need to try ‘nuancing’ that better.

Look, if you dont want a guy with 20 years of statewide political experience

I don't want another Texan Governor President; they are a little toooo compassionate to their neighbors to the south. Last one was, this one is showing to be the same.

¨If you think I can be bought for JUST $5,000 I feel sorry for you."

Do I hear ten? Ten thousand, ladies and gentlemen. Ah, $15,000, going once, going twice....

My thoughts exactly. I cringed when he said that. Perry just delivered the Dem's a gnarly campaign commercial with that one. Meanwhile, posters here were hootin and hollaring "Perry owned that one!!!". Yeah, he sure did, all the way to the mudslinging commercial bank.

Ummmm, she is paid to give her political comments. The two are tied together. It's her JOB.

I don’t wonder at all. Words mean things in the post-Clinton “Is,Is” American landscape. They speak lib memes, so they are not conservative. That simple. I question their conservatism.

Why are so-called ‘conservatives mouthing liberal talking points on a conservative forum? Answer: They are not conservatives at all or they have abandoned their beliefs in order to promote their candidate.

Neither is a trait to be proud of. Solution? Act like a conservative, not a liberal. Those us us who believe in conservative principles need to start calling them on it every time they do it.

EVERY TIME.

Vaccines save lives. The opt out policy saves children’s lives while not denying parental rights to make their own decisions.

You have failed to answer the point or question: Why isnt optout enough of a right of not following common-sense public health vaccination policies? You stop vaccinations, and healthcare costs and deaths from epidemics will go up - do you actually want that? Are you really wanting people to not get vaccinations? ‘opt in’ is a no-op. Are you going to be happy with letting more children die because we are afraid to tell parents to do the right thing? How many babies dying of whooping cough would change your mind?

Caifornia mandated vaccine due to kids dying of whooping cough. Lack of vaccinations helped spread the disease:
http://children.webmd.com/vaccines/vaccines-what-todays-parents-should-know/california-whooping-cough-epidemic?page=2
“Public health officials agree that unvaccinated children are just one factor that has played a role in the epidemic.”

http://blogs.webmd.com/all-ears/2011/08/vaccines-save-lives-period.html
“I am always respectful of parental concerns. I listen to their side of the argument, read their strange articles they find on the Internet, but then they have to listen to me. Personally, I feel that a parent probably has the right to decide which disease they would like their unvaccinated child to get, but as humans, sharing this small planet, we need to think of others. Just because you have not seen measles or polio, does not mean that millions of children around the world aren’t dying from them. Diseases are indiscriminate. Diseases do not care who they kill, deafen, or maim, but we should. The more people who are vaccinated, the less chance killer diseases will win this perpetual battle.”

Bill Gates - vaccines save lives:
http://www.impatientoptimists.org/Posts/2011/01/Vaccines-Save-Lives

http://www.ecbt.org/advocates/
“Routine childhood immunization impact:
* 33,000 deaths prevented
* $43 billion saved”

“The March of Dimes says vaccinations are safe and effective in protecting unborn babies, newborns, children, and adults against very serious, life-threatening infections such as polio, whooping cough, and rubella (German measles). Before the development of vaccines, thousands of babies and children died or were seriously disabled every year from these diseases. Because immunization programs of the 20th century were so successful, many of today’s young parents do not understand that the risk for these diseases to re-emerge is real, Dr. Katz said. “
