Palin takes aim at GOP presidential candidates
The Hill ^ | September 12, 2011 | Josh Lederman

Palin even went as far as to lend her voice to the charge leveled by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) during the debate against Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R): That he allowed a law to go though requiring HPV vaccinations for adolescent girls because of a $5,000 campaign donation and his relationship with his former chief of staff, who went on to lobby for a pharmaceutical company.

"I knew there was something to it," Palin said of learning while she was Alaska's governor that her Texas counterpart had given the go-ahead to the vaccine. "Now we're finding that now, yea, something was up with that issue. It was an illustration or bit of evidence of some crony capitalism."

“Has Governor Perry spoken out against the permanent political class yet?”

Look, if you dont want a guy with 20 years of statewide political experience, go with the outsider - Cain.

But it’s kind of silly to expect Perry to denounce career politicians when he’s been a good one for a long while.

“I don’t think any candidate has a viable alternative to this part of Palin’s platform. “

Oh please. HIS NAME IS HERMAN CAIN.

Of course there is—Herman Cain. He’s never been elected to political office.

Palin herself is really part of the “permanent political class” as she has been in politics since 1992.

The politicians got us into this mess. Herman Cain can get us out.

’ Perry never advocated “forcing” anyone to get a Gardasil vaccination. The executive order - RP65 - had an opt out. ‘

You’re right.

Only the children of parents who would blindly follow what a Governor says about this experimental drug would have suffered. The children of parents who questioned the Governor would research the side effects and avoid it like poison.

Even now, so few Perrybots have bothered to investigate this issue one iota, that regardless of the drugs widely publicized side effects, if Perry offered it to their children, a sizeable fraction would roll the dice with their kids future without another thought.

Perry is not a medical doctor and while I’m glad he didn’t intend to use kids as guinea pigs at gunpoint, the “opt-out” doesn’t wash.

I don’t know what Palin’s game is.

Her game is being a FOX News Analyst. She seems to be fitting in quite well over there.

“Don’t “opt” me in in the first place.”

Really? So you are opposed point-blank to every vaccination policy in America?

Yes. No doubt, which is why I stated it.

I’ve written widely on crony capitalism on American Thinker and think it’s one of the biggest problems we have today and argued widely the same thing here on FR. My point stands, this was a bit of an outlier for him and not his pattern.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m not a supporter of Perry - I am undecided at this point with a soft spot for Cain - but I do have over sensitive radar for perspective - and for folks like Bachmann, who support ethanol (maybe the ultimate crony capitalist venture this side of Obama care) and who have no executive experience - to call out someone with a ten year record as an executive on crony capitalism is just totally out of perspective.

That’s my only point. Perry will have to answer this better himself if he wants to over come it. But the vaccine issue for me is not a huge one.

The immigration is a whole different issue. I was keeping on the subject of the vaccine, the debate, and Palin’s comments.

Just a reminder...

Palin comes from a state with a population of 710,000.

Texas has approx 25,100,000 people.

And never forget..."she quit" and HER reasoning was she could do more if she was a free agent.

No matter the adverse circumstances (money)....she quit!!

How many Governors have quit to become a free agent?

I'm sorry...Palin should have stepped to the plate along time ago. Her little campaign is turning into a farce and it migght just happen that she quietly goes back to Alaska and lives happily ever after as an oil/gas exec..

Yeah, I'm against a formal "requirement" for vaccination. I like to have the choice to vaccinate or not.

So, you're in favor of forcing people to take an injection whether they need or or not for the "greater good"? Do you work for the government or a pharmaceutical company?

It would be nice if people actually read the transcript of what Gov. Palin said.

“....When one person points out that something is “wrong”, nothing bothers me more than to hear a response that you can “opt out”. ...”

You’re free to feel that way if you wish, but it is sophistry not to understand that an opt out option is huge. Hell, I would love an opt out option with the IRS. With the NLRB. With the DOE. With OSHA. With EEOC. Don’t disparage an opt out. It is often the difference between being annoyed and being ruled.

What exactly did the TX law state anyway and how many people were coerced and or misled to receive the shots, and are there any law suits pending and did anybody have an adverse reaction to the shots? I agree, you don’t do something like this by fiat, but really, if there was any harm, lets uncover it, otherwise, Perry has admitted that he should have gone through the TX legislature... either Perry is evil or he executed the duties of his office poorly... which is it?

You make a good point. Look at the whole record.

Given that, you should look at this bill. Some liberals in the lege did an end-run to CYA the CPS for their mis-handling of recent infamous polygamist groups investigation.

the bill gave CPS powers to take kids away and question them without their parents knowledge. Its extraordinary investigatory power.

He vetoed the bill:
http://governor.state.tx.us/news/veto/12627/

“Senate Bill No. 1440, however, overreaches and may not give due consideration to the Fourth Amendment rights of a parent or guardian.”

Liberals opposed him:
http://www.statesman.com/opinion/content/editorial/stories/2009/06/23/0623veto_edit.html

” his over all record of parental rights is very good, with this one fugly blot.”

I tend to agree.

Well said, Palin didn’t just endorse Perry, she enthusiastically endorsed him with glowing praise about his conservatism and PRINCIPLES. If she now thinks he is corrupt then she needs to explain in detail what caused her to change her mind about Perry, or admit she was being deciptful when she endorsed him.

While not a rabid supporter of Sarah Palin and thinking that she would make a fine President, I am getting a little tired of being strung along.....she needs to make - and announce - her decision. Like the song says...”is you is or is you ain’t...”

Palin is doing what her supporters accuse others of doing to her. Taking an issue and twisting the facts to fit an agenda.

I don't know what her agenda is other than pulling in $1 million/year from Fox News, but she shouldn't resort to lying and misrepresenting facts while in her role as an analyst.

I was quite disappointed with Palin’s belaboring the Gardasil issue that Bachmann raised during the debate. It reminded me of the George Allen Macca incident which was hyped beyond ridiculous and used to bring down his campaign for reelection. The attack by Bachmann and followup by Palin IMO was coordinated and diminished my opinion of both of them. I like Bachmann but do not see her in any way getting the nomination. Sarah is my pick at present because she has the strengths and background and disposition to carry through with the massive cleanup of the US government that will lead to the recovery of our economy and stability of this Republic. Perry will reveal more of himself in further debates and public exposure and I will continue to take the measure of the man. I will not make a decision on one incident or element of his past.

Watching her on Greta's show taking uncontested target practice on those who've made the plunge to run for President, all the while she's still "undecided" comes across as off-putting.

Who said that politics is fair?
