Herman Cain the Most Interesting Presidential Candidate
Yahoo News ^ | 9/13/11 | Mark Whittington

COMMENTARY | Herman Cain, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO and current candidate for president of the United States, may not get the Republican nomination. But he remains the most interesting man running for the Oval Office. For instance, Cain's "9 9 9" proposal, which essentially would replace the current tax code with a 9 percent flat tax on personal income, a 9 percent corporate tax, and a 9 percent national sales tax, has the virtue of being simple, easy to understand, and appealing to anyone who has had to struggle with complying with the tax code. Cain's proposal, repeated during the CNN/Tea Party Debate, reminds one of Steve Forbes' championing the flat tax during the 1996 campaign. Cain, in the same debate, suggested a market-oriented health care reform idea...

It would be interesting to see what the effect would be on the economy. A lot more money freed up with lower rates, but a bit of a stifling effect on consumption with an aggregate sales tax rate close to 18% in many parts of the country.

9 9 9 is the type of real radical change that washington needs.

Of all the candidates IMHO Cain is the most compelling. I don’t know why he can’t seem to get any traction, everything’s Perry/Romney

Now that Mitt is no longer leading the polls, the left want the Republicans to select Cain.

Cain is a good man but without the executive experience needed to do the job.To the left he is malleable

Having BOTH a federal income tax AND a national sales tax is a bad idea, like having TWO camels’ noses in the tent.

One or the other, please, but NOT BOTH.

I assume you meant “without the government experience”. Cain has plenty of executive experience in the Real World.

Sorry, no. The “left” routinely leaves Cain out of every conversation of potential candidates. They are clearly pushing Romney, Huntsman because they are dem lite, and Perry.

Have you not seen the last three debates (CNN, CNN, MSNBC)? Cain gets 5 minutes of a 1 1/2 hour debate. He’s not even included on half the polls they run.

What ever happened to Cain’s original love for the Fair Tax?

He was touting it in the past and then suddenly we have this 9-9-9 plan popping out of the blue...

I’d really love to see anything that clips the wings of the intrusive IRS and the Fair Tax looks to be it. Now it looks like we’re back to the IRS once again ( with one of the 9’s being the income tax ).

BTW, what’s to stop the 9 from becoming a 10 or 11 in the future?

To add to my last post - every now and then Cain will get a commentator, or blogger (even from a liberal news source) who likes what he has to say. But he is not front page for them, he is looked at as fringe. They simply do not want others (especially blacks) to hear what this man has to say.

Liberals will never promote a Fair Tax guy LOL

I maintain he is fully qualified to be President and that the MSM will not give him any consideration of being electable because they know if they put a decent black man against Obama that he ( Obama) will be shown
To be the pitiful man he is.

First of all, Cain has had 25+ years of "executive experience" as someone who has run major companies and built them up into corporations. Which would mean he has 4,000% more executive experience than Obama.

Secondly, we don't need anymore career politicians in the White House. You must be a Romney supporter if you want someone who has nothing but career politician "executive" experience.

To what "left"? They are ignoring him in all the MSM, it's all Romney/Perry with a little Bachman.

I hope he’s on the ballot when the primaries get to my state. I will vote for him in the primaries.

Crackers for Cain!

That’s what I’ve been muttering for weeks. He’s right on the issues. He’s quick with a humorous quip. He has what it takes. Even Rush tends to ignore him. I don’t know whom I’ll support if Herman fails to gain some traction. It’s frustrating in the extreme. sd

999 is an initial improvement but there is a great danger in that it keeps the income tax and the IRS meaning the government must still dossier every American.

The Beast must first be killed by repealing the 16th amendment (I would also favor the immediate execution of anyone who would propose reviving it as well.) THEN the sales tax could be imposed.

Otherwise we will wind up with both income and sales taxes and the end will be worse than the beginning.
