On an average day, she earns $20 an hour, but on a good weekend night, she might pull in $50 an hour enough to get her finances back on track. She can set her own hours, which means she can squeeze in reading and writing papers around her work schedule.
If only I could make $50 an hour taking my shirt off...

I’d like to know what line of work her customers are in such that they can blow that kind of money on her ‘artistic performance.’

Dear Abby,
I met and fell in love with a wonderful, beautiful, intelligent woman
named Carla. She has a law degree and was employed as a lawyer
with a top notch firm for 9 years. Some time ago she was laid off
due to the bad economy and she now makes her living working as a
topless pole dancer.
We plan on getting married soon so I am taking her home to meet
my family. As you might guess, I am apprehensive about explaining
her background to mom and dad. I want them to like and respect
her but don't know if honesty is the best policy in this situation.
My concern is this: Should I tell my parents that Carla is a lawyer?
Sincerely,
Confused

If she’s in her late 30s or older, I doubt she’s making really good money. Dark lights can only cover up the inevitable for so long.
There ought to be a joke about lawyers and briefs laying about here somewhere..

Lawyers have the bar. Strippers have the pole.

I see this lady's plight as caused by a few factors:
- The sue-em culture that we had starting from the 80s.
- The knock-on effect that most of the brightest became lawyers as that was where the money was
- Students of course joined the stream that gave them the best chance of earning big bucks (see also invesment bankers)
- Law schools of course hiked their fees.
- This lady made the decision at the wrong time, when the market for lawyers tanked.
She could always declare bankruptcy, but chose this profession instead.
Bad decisions, I only hope and pray she manages to find a way out.
