I understand their percentages are small, but their participation is very high and therefore, they have the ability to still bring a significant relative number of voters to bear on the the count in those states.
IMO, the only state where a realistic swing in Jewish votes could make a difference is Florida, which has swung Republican anyway in close situations.
Your argument is certainly persuasive based on the percentages. It seems odd to me then, why, in election cycle after election cycle (general and statewide), there is always talk of the importance of the Jewish vote and candidates are consistently courting the Jewish vote. I’ll switch around to your side and argue that it may be the phrase “Jewish vote” is also a euphemism for “Jewish money”. Still, you always get those photo opps with the candidate visiting the Jewish nursing homes, etc.
Money, yes, but ‘moral approval’ is what they’re really after!
How does the moral approval of the Jewish vote help 0 with the rest of the electorate (ie: with the really big demographics)? Do other religious constituencies or demographics look to the moral approval signified by the Jewish vote? I’m not arguing, just trying to understand your point.
I don’t believe anyone seeks Jewish moral approval because it will get more votes directly. Such approval relieves the psychological anxiety associated with using the government coercion to achieve some end for ‘the higher good’.
Those embracing violence, such the Identity movement, Islam, or communists, relish Jewish disapproval.
