France herds Muslim faithful off streets after prayer ban

A ban on praying in French streets came into effect on Friday, with thousands of the nation’s Muslim faithful being moved to temporary alternative spaces for their day of prayer.
From Paris to Marseille, Friday’s midday prayers will be led from disused barracks or other temporary buildings, after the question of Islam’s visibility became a political issue under right-wing President Nicolas Sarkozy.
France, home to Europe’s largest Muslim population, this year banned the face-covering burqa and earlier this week Interior Minister Claude Gueant warned that “from September 16 there will be no more prayers in the street.”
“If anyone happens to be recalcitrant we will put an end to it,” Gueant said, suggesting police could be brought in.
“Prayers in the street are unacceptable, a direct attack on the principle of secularism,” Gueant told AFP last month, citing the government’s defense of the republic’s secular values as reason for the new policies.

The respective fates or destinies of BOTH the troublesome Islamic ‘presence’ AND the cult of illegal immigration and their attendant political ‘uses’ have been heavily promoted by the Left and comprise two linchpins for social and economic chaos which are being exploited in tandem, especially by the Left, but also recessively and passively by the Moderates on “the Right”. But both of these “issues” are only ‘valid’ as long as the Obama Administration is ‘valid’. The days of Obama’s validity are fading fast, and more and more can read the expiration date on the wall. Obama’s biggest mistake was foisting Obamacare on us, and doing it in an
unconstitutional way—if we add the clamorous dissonance of people like Trumka and Hoffa,Jr. to the mix, the overall feeling created in the public realm is of something just not being “right” , and the awareness that all of this would not be happening if Obama were not President.
The solution then presents itself -—Obama should be replaced, and a rollback of the power and influence of these three “special interests” should be shut down or rolled back.I don’t see mass deportations of Illegals or

It was clear from the beginning that the Obama Administration was politically ruthless, careless, and naive about the methods they would use to both push and curate their Agenda. I don’t mean violently, I mean the ‘lawfare’ aspects. Let them ‘demand’ religious whatever. We just demand the same...and stick with it and not back down. ‘Tricks’ of that nature.
They demand burkas, we sue over safety concerns. Stuff like that. Just make it impossible for them to practice Islam/Sharia using our current laws that SHOULD BE ENFORCED AND Restricting that BS anyway.
I don’t have any answers, but let me give you an example of why the laws are NOT enforced...
We have an imam in Oz who maintained the reason he did not register his motor vehicle was because the koran did not require him to do so.
He probably instructed his followers also to forgo registration of their motor vehicles on the same grounds...
He was fined of course.
However, there are some five thousand members of his community, and the majority of them would own a vehicle. They could almost all be driving unregistered vehicles as result of his instructions, and quite probably also driving without a licence; because allah never told them they needed one...
Now what are the police to do?
Set up a force to check all muslim vehicle-owners and muslim drivers?
The howls of descrimination would be deafening, so they get away with it...and are only apprehended as the result of some other traffic infringement, or if an observant police-officer notices the out-of-date (or total lack of) registration sticker.
To break even the most basic of our laws is to follow the koran, even driving an unregistered vehicle is a PERSONAL JIHAD.

The French government is going to be providing ‘temporary’ space for thousands in order to get them off the streets.

I do get what you’re saying...but...
Until we ‘let them howl’ nothing changes. I am tired of worrying about charges of bigotry. Hold our government/officials accountable to/for enforcing the law and / or make them look for work come election day. That’s the only real answer I believe in, short of military action.

The government should never be in the business of providing public funds for religions. It’s part of the welfare state mentality.
IMHO this has nothing to do with worship or prayers. Like the planned mosque at Ground Zero, this is their way of saying” we’re here, get used to it!”
Every law on the books from traffic laws to crowd control safety laws should be used to put an end to it. It is time for French people to reclaim their streets!
You’ll have to get out of the UN before that can happen. While to UN is run by a block of muslim countries and a bunch of dictators and their socialist buddies, the mohammadans can break our laws and implement sharia in their enclaves.
Funny story: we had a visit from the UN to a medium sized city in Oz, the residents had erected a sign on the local football stadium - in honour of one of their deceased, well loved players. His nickname was Nigger. He was a white man.
The UN body heard about it, visited the town and demanded the sign be removed.
You think you own your country? No, you don’t, and neither do we. The UN owns us all. The UN sets where your migrants come from.

A UN committee has called for the word “nigger” to be removed from the E S “Nigger” Brown stand at Toowoomba.
In an 11-page judgment, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination said the term was offensive and insulting and recommended the federal government remove the word “nigger” from the sign at the sports ground, west of Brisbane.
The committee conceded the sign was erected in 1960, it was not designed to demean, but the UN convention on the elimination of all forms of racism should be interpreted in light of contemporary society.
“The committee considers it to be its duty to recall the increased sensitivities in respect of words such as the offending term appertaining today,” the judgment said.
Aboriginal activist Stephen Hagan, who petitioned the UN committee to rule on the sign, said he was “over the moon” by its decision.
Mr Hagan has fought for years to have the word removed from the sign which honours Edward Stanley Brown, Toowoomba’s first rugby league international.
Mr Brown, who died in 1972, aged 74, was a Caucasian Australian - not an Aborigine - and was believed to have earned the nickname because of his extremely fair complexion or because he had a penchant for using “Nigger Brown” shoe polish.
Mr Hagan lost actions in the federal and high courts to have the term removed from the sign.
He said today the UN committee’s decision had vindicated his stance.
“I’ve had a lot of criticism from many quarters, including my own Aboriginal community who said that it’s only a nickname and after all, he was a very famous footballer and maybe you should turn a blind eye in this instance,” Mr Hagan said.
“But I did it for my young family. I’ve got a young boy and girl in primary school and I don’t want them to run on to that athletic oval and look up and see the word Nigger and think that I’m condoning that word publicly.
“I was determined to have it taken down.”
Mr Hagan called on Queensland Premier Peter Beattie to order the sign’s removal, given the UN committee’s recommendation.
Although the Australian government is a signatory to the UN convention, Mr Hagan said the Queensland government owned the oval, and therefore the sign.
“I’m appealing to Beattie, who I believe is a compassionate man, to take the sign down within the next 24 to 48 hours ... in the spirit of reconciliation.
“I think common sense will prevail. I believe the sign will come down.”
Comment was being sought from the state government
