64% Say Boeing Should Be Allowed to Operate Plant in South Carolina
Rasmussen ^ | September 15, 2011

The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) may be upset with Boeing’s plan to operate a non-union plant in South Carolina, but most Americans think it should be allowed to.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone poll finds that 64% think Boeing has the right to open the plant in South Carolina while just 21% disagree. When respondents are told that the NLRB believes that opening the plant is an act of retaliation against the union, the numbers barely move. Only 17% think the agency has the right to prevent Boeing from opening the new facility while 64% disagree.

The House is expected to approve a bill barring the NLRB from getting involved with Boeing’s operation of a $750 million aircraft assembly line in South Carolina – a right-to-work state -- instead of Washington State. In April, the labor board filed a complaint against Boeing for opening the plant

question: I didn’t read much about the House debate on the bill to curtail the NLRB....but did Clyburn speak?...what did he say, if anything coherent?

ONLY 64%. This is mind blowing. 36% think the government can decide where a private company can locate its manufacturing facilities?

Ask the 21% if they would rather the plant be opened in China, cause that’s the other choice.

The NLRB is another government bureaucracy, like the EPA, that needs to be eliminated.

Clyburn was not coherent, but he also wasn't particularly useful to the Democrats.

Of note, NLRB probably has no authority to rule on the matter ~ at least not without first abolishing the United States Constitution. There are folks in South Carolina who'd probably like that idea.

I wrote earlier today on another thread that after 2012, or possibly 2014, when we have a filibuster-proof Senate)when we have a GOP president, and control of Congress..we shoudl just bite the bullet and repeal the Voting Rights Act. The CBC and the left will scream..but they scream at anything we do..IT’s only because of the VRA and these artificail minority-majority districts that we have 38 or so idiots in the House..

100% of my Boeing office think we should be aloud to set up a line in SC. Though we are Salary and not Union and that I'm sure makes a difference. Go out to the shop and ask the same question to them and you will flip the poll result.

What worries me with as busy as we are on the 737 line, going to 35 a month in Nov, and 38 in 2014, that IAM 751 is going to use that pressure on Boeing in 2012 when their contract expires. After 25 years I have learned that the Union DOESN'T CARE if the company is doing good, and that a long strike can bring that to a screeching halt. They only care about the Union and how many paying members they have.

Thought: Reclassify the NLRB and EPA as terrorist organizations and ship them to Gitmo to room with the Muslims. Then take bets how long the new batch of Infidels will survive. Repeat as often as necessary until the bureaucrats are extinct.

Did he defend the NLRB’s position? I wonder how many of those 1000 jobs at Boeing, and the thousands more held by subcontractors and other firms that support Boeing in SC, held by blacks. SC GOP should be pressuring Clyburn at every step..tie him to Obama..and not give him a pass...also, in a state that has the highest % of former military in the country..surely they can find another Alan West type...run him against Clyburn..he may not win..but it’s time to but him on the hot seat...they can give him a staff and plenty of financing..

That same percentage that thinks Soetoro is doing a good job. They show up in every poll.

NLRB exists only to protect unions. We should not have a governmental agency representing one group of people to the detriment of others.
