Michele Bachmann links Rick Perry on HPV vaccine to Solyndra

Reporting from Costa Mesa— Michele Bachmann, struggling to regain her footing in the GOP presidential contest, Friday assailed rival Rick Perry, saying he abused his power as governor of Texas and rewarded political donors in a manner similar to President Obama.

(snip)

She compared it to the federal controversy unfolding around Solyndra, a solar equipment maker that received a $535-million federal loan guarantee and which went bankrupt last month. Republicans have suggested that the guarantee was pushed by the White House to reward a major campaign donor with ties to Solyndra's biggest shareholder, a charge the Obama administration denies.

Bachmann also sought to tie Perry's effort, which was ultimately blocked by the Texas Legislature, to Obama's healthcare law in a Web video and fundraising appeal to supporters in which she dubs his efforts as "Perrycare," a riff on the "Obamacare" label that some use to describe the president's healthcare reform package.

(snip)

Bachmann received credit for calling Perry out on the matter during a debate Monday night, but she quickly stumbled by claiming that the vaccine was dangerous and could cause "mental retardation." According to the CDC and physicians, even among people who have the most severe reactions, the vaccine does not cause cognitive disability.

Bachmann repeatedly refused to walk back on her remarks, saying she had heard from a mother whose daughter experienced such a reaction.

I agree. A republican is a chameleon who changes back and forth.

You act like we females have no brains just emotions.

What BS.

Bachmann LIED about the girls in Texas being forced to have this vaccine. The EO EXPLICITLY stated the parents were the final decision makers in respect to this drug. She spread a disgusting lie. Two of my grandkids have been opted out of all vaccines here. Perry made it easier for parents to opt out in 2003 when parents expressed concerns about autism.

So take your sexist crap somewhere else. Women DO have brains that we can acutally use over our emotions.

And this lady does not fall for one minute for Bachmann’s lies and all her histrionics.

Does HPV cause cervicla cancer in men?

Was there an opt out clause?

Why do their own research when the Texas Enterprise Fund is still providing bread and circuses?

Besides - Perrywinklers are evidently more interested in who's winning American Idol and dancing with the Starz between this week's/year's GeeOpie-sponsored commercials for Viagra, Sleeping Pills, Grecian Formula, and (D)epends...

...than they are in conserving the Lawful state of affairs specified by un-enlightened (at least according to certain sections of the Texas School Curriculum) old fuddy duddies like Thomas Jefferson.

Ricardo Perry, world famous ventriloquist—having appeared befor the crowned heads of Europe & Asia—was setting them up and knocking them down ... until he got on the subject of blondes.
He set up one blond gag after another and the dummy was getting big laughs, until a woman with a big blond beehive hairdo stood up and, man, was she was angry!
She said, “I’ve worked hard all my life and you act like we blondes have no brains just emotions. What BS. So take your sexist crap somewhere else. Women DO have brains that we can acutally use over our emotions.”
Rick cleared his throat and started backpeddling:
“Ma’am, I’m just joking, it’s all part of the act, I meant no offense to ... “
And the blond cut him off: “I ain’t talkin’ to you, Buster. I’m talkin’ to that little SOB sittin’ in your lap.”

I read that CDC report, it’s pretty vague. There are way too many testimonies like this for it them be pure coincidence;

Sad to see her flailing desperately to save her drowning campaign.

Michele, you are a fine Representative. Get back to work doing what you do best, before you damage your credibility permanently.

She better be careful because she has lots of skeletons in her closet too. There's more at the link. Example: Bachmann may also be plagued by her involvement in a controversial pardon. In 2007, Bachmann wrote a letter requesting a presidential pardon for a convicted drug-smuggler and money-launderer named Frank Vennes. Vennes was convicted of money laundering in 1988 and pleaded no contest to a cocaine and weapons charge.

Making matters worse, he and his wife donated a total of $27,600 to Bachmann’s 2006 and 2008 election.

Nobody wants a conservative. That is the bottom line.

Not so. Bachmann lost the plot.

She could have legitimately won the argument that conservatives don’t want a leader who signs an executive order to inoculate their children against a sexually transmitted disease. Whether that EO is an opt-in or an opt-out has significance, but less so than the main point of contention: executive orders to inoculate school children against STDs. Whether Perry made this decision because, as he says, he hates cancer, or whether he made this decision because, as Bachmann says, it was a quid pro quo for a campaign donor, doesn’t affect the main point of contention: executive orders to inoculate school children against STDs. Whether the vaccine has potentially serious side effects or not doesn’t affect the main point of contention: executive orders to inoculate school children against STDs.

On the main point of contention, guess what? Perry loses! But, Bachmann couldn’t see this one simple thing, and she’s gone off the rails doubling down on increasingly desperate-sounding side arguments.

Bachmann's strategy of desperation is hurting her campaign, helping Romney’s campaign, and leaving Perry’s campaign relatively unscathed. Her inability to see this simple fact is cementing the general impression that she’s distinctly un-Presidential.

The botom line has nothing whatsoever to do with Bachmann's conservative credentials.

Adding to my post 117 above: On October 2, 2008, Rep. Bachmann wrote a second letter after Vennes’ home was raided by federal agents investigating his connection to a billion dollar Ponzi scheme, this time admitting:

“Regrettably, it now appears that I may have too hastily accepted his [Frank Vennes] claims of redemption and I must withdraw my previous letter.” Bachmann’s spokesman tells me, Rep. Bachmann “has remained disassociated from Mr. Vennes and is saddened by the latest charges that were filed against him.”

Some have questioned whether or not evangelical Christians like Bachmann may be naive when it comes to claims of redemption. Should Bachmann’s campaign gain steam, she will likely have to answer questions about her judgment. Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2011/05/15/michele-bachmanns-record-earmarks-farm-subsidies-and-pardons/#ixzz1YEUGMyUy Really, so she made a mistake in judgement? Mistake in judgement? That's right. Keep it up Michele. Judge not least thee be judged.
