Yep, absolutely in the UK, check my post #19
Care to take it? I’ll give you my paypal. Heck, i’ll even donate an amount to a charity of your choice. Nothing will happen to this man. Tony Martin was an entirely different set of circumstances.
“Why have the British citizens...”
The Brits are SUBJECTS, not citizens.
That was one of the reasons for our War of Independence. We are going to need a second one very soon.
again?
Nope, my passport definitely says ‘citizen’
Sure I’ll put up a $20 bill to charity with you on this, with the question to be decided with a definite disposition of the charges. If I win, send the donation to the Gun Owners of America.
It is always good to have someone in the know comment on foreign (to me) stories. I think most of us were preparing our torches and pitchforks until you started posting :-)
It’s not good enough that a homeowner defending himself by the available means necessary (not even a gun) must now spend a fortune defending himself in the courts (civil and or criminal). More reason we need the castle doctrine in every state.
BTW these Brits and other freedom loving euros should consider themselves to be oppressed by their government on this basis. Hopefully, when we get a conservative in the WH, the administration and state department should adopt a new asylum policy to protect these basic rights and expedite immigration for these people.
But what if the medal has a sharp edge and could be used as a knife?
The British ARE citizens and have been since the Nationality Act of 1981.
Thanks. My country has many faults, but I still can’t stand to see it being slandered due to misinformation
It is highly unlikely that this will go to court
Yay! Often I find myself having to take on the role you have in this thread. So many Americans don’t get that the Tony Martin case was not typical, and that genuine self defence is absolutely permissable - it just can’t be used as an excuse to go further than you needed to defend yourself.
As soon as I saw the news earlier this afternoon, I thought “i’m going to have some defending to do”
With what???
Don’t know if you remember, but we had a little internet bet on this?
Well, as predicted, the man will face no charges, because he was doing what was legal and necessary to protect his home

I won’t take your $20 though. The truth is enough for me.
