The European dream lies in ruins (Must Read)
The Telegraph ^ | 9/17/2011 | Janet Daley

I have to say that even in my most apocalyptic Eurosceptic moments – when I had moved on from thinking the federalist project simply preposterous to believing that it was criminal folly – I never anticipated this. What I expected was growing disillusionment followed by an almost imperceptible unwinding which would be finessed with political double-talk and diplomatic duplicity. The implosion would come, but it would be with a whimper, not a bang. Faces would be saved and enormous numbers of lies would be told, and somehow the thing would be brought to an end – or made so vestigial that it would no longer matter.

Well, so much for that idea. This is going to be huge: so cataclysmic that it may summon up forms of ugliness that we have not seen walking abroad in Western Europe for half a century.

“Once so much power is consolidated at such a high level it is never relinquished without a long struggle and/or blood in the streets.”

Absolutely true.

But what does your statement imply for the future of the _U.S.A._, as well?

Just wonderin’...

I liked it until “Is it beyond the bounds of imagination that we might see the Muslim minorities become the Jews of the 21st century?”

Spare me.

You might appreciate something I recently discovered...posted here. Pay attention to the part about "EUSSR: The Soviet Roots of European Integration".

“Does ANYONE really think it’s a good idea to IMPOSE additional debt on the German people so that Greek and Italian workers can take 6-8 weeks of vacation a year and retire when they are 50?”

Does ANYONE really think it’s a good idea to IMPOSE additional debt on the AMERICAN people so that GOVERNMENT workers can take 6-8 weeks of vacation a year and retire when they are 50?

Think and act locally. Government entities near you, cities, school districts, counties and states face this issue.

Entitlements are one thing, and government pay, benefits and pensions are another.

I see the fact Americans are going to be asked to work longer (or until they die or cannot work), so government workers can retire as fat cats at 50 or 55.

You’re right. It’s a foolish comment that somewhat mars a generally excellent analysis.

My long standing belief is that if ethnic cleansing comes to Europe in the near future, the Muslims will suffer greatly.
And if ethnic cleansing comes to Europe a bit later than that, the Europeans will suffer greatly.

The establishment of the EU is based on a socialist ideology.

As such, just like past and present socialist/communist ideologies (Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot and now Obama) the first enemy of socialism, Christianity, will have to be removed by whatever means available.

That is the reason that Islam is getting a free reign in Europe and the US.

"Europe must choose to either preserve democratic sovereign states, or adopt a supra-national oligarchic conglomeration that is essentially napoleonic in its inspiration and origins."

Might I suggest an anarcho-syndicalist commune. Taken in turns to sort of act as a sort of executive officer for the week. But all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs but by a two-thirds majority in the case of more major international matters.

"Does ANYONE really think it’s a good idea to IMPOSE additional debt on the AMERICAN people so that GOVERNMENT workers can take 6-8 weeks of vacation a year and retire when they are 50?"

That is the precise analogy I intended.

There's a world-wide competition between the productive class and the parasite class. Only the "Social Contract" in the various countries and between countries keeps the lid on things.

When the parasite class holds the reigns of power, and they cannot be dislodged by political means, it is INEVITABLE that the productive class...who controls all of the REAL MEANS, dislodge them by force.

Here's another way to look at it: The class of people who traditionally hold all power...the monied land owners and merchants of the mid-1700's in America decided to be magnanimous and allow a far greater number of people to participate in state decisions. They also constructed a legal framework that would protect all, equally (granted, they did not address slavery or womens' rights). It was the greatest distribution of state power in the history of man.

In exchange for that transfer they got the Bill of Rights and a Constitutionally limited government.

A Republic based in Law.

With the (d)emocratic changes that have emerged over the last 150 years along with the wholesale disregard for the Law and Constitution, who could blame those traditional power holders for abolishing the USA "Social Contract" due to Breach of Contract?

Those traditional holders of power are productive males who own property.

There's about 50 million of them in the USA. And, they CARRY EVERYONE ELSE.

This is our chance to determine what the natural order of things should be. Our children will thank us if we decide right.

It looks like, once again, a Balkan nation (Greece) screws it up for the rest of Europe.

Things would be much better if the Balkans, as a group, were run by more responsible nations.

There are three European dreams, actually, and they come in colors: Red, Black, and Brown.

Well said. *VERY* well said... an it bears repeating.
