CA straw poll winner Ron Paul talks 9-11, campaign — and future

Los Angeles – The campaign of GOP presidential candidate Ron Paul, who decisively won the California Republican state GOP straw poll Saturday, spent $25,000 on the effort — one his backers say displayed a “depth of support” and organizational strength for Paul in the 2012 campaign.

Paul’s commanding win gave him 44.9 percent of the 883 votes cast by attendees at the 3-day state convention at the JW Marriott Hotel here. Coming in second was Texas Gov. Rick Perry with 29.3 percent, followed by a dramatic drop-off for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 8.8 percent. Rep. Michele Bachmann came in an embarrassing fourth, with 7.7 percent. The rest of the GOP presidential pack hardly made a ripple: former Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman (2 percent), former Godfather Pizza CEO Herman Cain (1.8 percent), and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich coming in even after the pizza exec (1.7 percent).

So yet again Paul paid people to vote for him.
Straw polls are not even worth the paper they are written on, they are worth less than popcorn polls.

Wow. How unimpressive. The local high school Homecoming Queen got more votes.....and she didn't pay a dime.

Ron Paul’s straw-poll performance is testimony to what can be done with sufficient quantities of weed and fast food. Unfortunately, he can’t afford to get the entire electorate high.

Most politicians have supporters. RuPaul has a congregation of minions akin to the Charles Manson family. I’d be more inclined to listen to what the man has to say if it weren’t for the pathological fanatics who follow him like they’re in heavens gate. If I ever unwittingly engaged a Paultard and found out later, I’d need to shower with Lysol.

The only polls Ron Paul can win are internet polls and straw polls.

Here in San Jose we are so uninspired by Perry and we hate Romney. Palin won’t run. What is happening in California is rebellion from Rinos!! I had coffee with women my age today and they love Ron Paul and Perry is finished. Romney is a Mormon and excuse me but that aint gonna happen. We were down to Bachmann at out table. But boy did they like what Paul had to say!! and they love his good looking son!!

This is a lie. The Paul campaign bought tickets to give to their supporters. Many campaigns do this. (Eg. Bachmann did in Iowa -- and one of five of her tickets voted for someone else anyway The campaign never paid anyone to vote.

The only campaign which has been even accused of paying for for any actual straw votes this cycle has been Huntsmann in New Orleans.

Give a druggie enough dope and he will vote for the dope. Cut and run had two big things going for him in CA. CA is full of queers, who the surrender monkey always courts and druggies.

Nope. Paul has almost across the board support, for good reason.
If you want to support this delusional man be my guest but please do not pretend that he has any change to win, straw polls mean nothing.

The Paul campaign bought tickets to give to their supporters.

And all the candidates do this -- but you are unlikely to see fairness and rationality here when it comes to Ron Paul. Some occasionally rational people here go into apoplectic fits at the very mention of his name.Writer Paul Mulshine covers this phenomena (I love the part where he points out that the term "American Exceptionalism" was actually coined by a Communist.)

These straw polls supposedly "mean so little" that the Texas Straw poll was cancelled --the cover story is that it was for "lack of interest", but it was much more likely because Rick Perry didn't want to be embarrassed by Ron Paul in his own State where polls have already shown that Ron Paul is far more popular than Rick Perry.

So you support a 9/11 truther?? A guy who back stabbed Reagan in the back?? A guy who supported Ralph Nader, Chuck Baldwin, Alan Keyes, and Cynthia McKinney??
