Calling Obama's Bluff by Passing ALL His Proposed Tax Increases Effective Immediately (Vanity)
Self

Posted on 09/19/2011 8:18:26 AM PDT by indianrightwinger

How about the House passing his tax increase plan in TOTO right away and make all effective immediately and the dare the Senate to pass it? If the Senate takes up on the measure and passes it (which they won't), there are two fatal scenarios for Obama: 1) sign and crash the economy further and 2) veto and reveal how awful his economic prescriptions are.

If the Senate does not take up the measure, then it will be proven for all to see how stupid Obama's ideas are that even Dummycrats won't go for them.

Thoughts?

How about we don’t play games and we vote for what we believe in.

Not a totally awful albeit cynical idea, FR would errupt and could backfire bigtime. I am of the mind getting rid of Obama is job #1, it’s that improtant, more important than even the economy.

Believing his goal IS to crash the economy and end capitalism, I wouldn’t pass it and give him the chance to sign it.

Not a bad idea. What would he use to bash Republicans in his campaign?

One thing you’ll never get a politician to do, especially a leftist politician,

is to state exactly “how much” spending is required to revive the economy, and exactly how we can measure that.

I agree with Obama. It is not “fair” that Buffet pays a higher rate than his secretary...

...We should cut HER taxes to 15% and make them permanent. We should then adjust government programs based upon THAT amount of revenue.

We know if you want more of something, cut the cost.

I know it's far more complicated than that, but somewhere in the back of my mind I'm with you 100%. There would be a huge challenge with the messaging, Conservatives would be outraged unless the message was right — we are doing this because we have no option, we can't even get a bill read in the senate, we haven't had a budget out of the White House since Obama took office. Too many people are only hearing tweaks of information, let's give them a big blow. It won't/can't happen but I like dreaming that we put the failure where it belongs vs. the current message of obstruction by the Conservatives in our Government.

Not a bad idea. What would he use to bash Republicans in his campaign?

He'd just propose even higher taxes and continue with the same tax the rich, class warfare campaign. Should we then pass his next set of loony ideas to?

Hussein is not putting forth real plans. He knows they will not pass. He now recognizes the economy is going to be terrible right up till election day 2012 and has decided to effectively act as if none of his agenda to create jobs has ever passed. He's pivoted from "things are getting better" to "things can only get better if you pass my tax hikes and stimulus plans" We are back to early 2009 when he proposed Porkulus in the first place.

I'd say the Republicans in the House should give him the payroll tax cuts and a few of the small business tax breaks. None will help the economy much, but at least it helps starve the beast and gives the appearance that the GOP is reasonable and wants to "work with the President".

Good Idea.
Call his bluff.
No matter what he then can't blame Republicans. . . . .

Stupid idea. Bad law must be killed before it passes any legislative hurdle. The asinine McCain/Feingold bill was allowed to go forward with many believing the courts would strike it down. That crappy law is still on the books. It will take generations of expensive litigation to eliminate it...assuming that can ever be accomplished.

He wouldn't have to do anything. They would be voted out for betraying their constituents.

Not a good idea. The Mainstream Press would just blame the Republicans for breaking their pledge.

Don't forget, the Mainstream media wants socialism and will do and say anything to promote it. Including false witness.

That is how the "Anti-Dog-eat-Dog Act" was passed in "Atlas Shrugged".

And you know what happened then.

[ One thing you’ll never get a politician to do, especially a leftist politician,is to state exactly “how much” spending is required to revive the economy, and exactly how we can measure that. ]

Another thing you could never get is to get a leftist politician to agree on is a fundemental cap on a tax percentage. Or what limit on total percentage of the GDP there should be used to run a governemnt.

I think there should be a Hard Constitutional Cap on any tax to be something like 15% if not 10%.
