Attacked by thugs, but then ignored by Minneapolis cops

Lopez, of Coon Rapids, and two married couples he knows were attacked by a gang of 10 men ages 16 to early 20s, shortly after the group of friends left the Aqua nightclub in the city's Warehouse District early Sept. 2. The brazen assault took place not more than 30 feet from the 1st Police Precinct station on Fourth Street between Hennepin Avenue and First Avenue North. Now, if I were going to get assaulted, I would think that being next to a police station would be the best place to be. Help is next door, right? Not that morning, according to an internal affairs unit complaint filed by the group last weekend. SHE SAID COP SAID 'NOT MY PROBLEM'

Weren’t even told to take a number and join a queue... that’s cold. But with no political competition to speak of there, little incentive exists to improve the system.

I’d organize a daytime protest at the station, with people in chicken suits all going “buck-aw! buck-aw!” while marching on the sidewalk in front of the station. Get some news crews there.

A discharge of a firearm would have probably brought them out of the office. Then again, maybe not.

Allow the citizens to protect themselves from the thugs. Obviously, the police wont do it.

Yes, absolutely need to CC just in case you need to defend yourself from criminal scum or Law Enforcement scum.

Remember, never forget, according to our broken legal system you have no right to expect police to protect you.

Sounds like a bunch of union police scum at that precinct.

Remember, most FReepers loved these worthless thugs when they were busting anyone who dared think of disrupting the 2008 GOP Convention.

I worked for an auto parts recycler and had to go to the main police station in Decatur,Il to file a report for theft after a customer wouldn’t pay for an engine. There was a call box in the lobby you used to call the desk and they told you someone would be out in a few minutes...after waiting 30 minutes on 2 separate occasions, I told the boss if he wanted a report to be filed, he would have to do it himself.

This is how feudalism got started...Once the Roman Legions ceased being an effective force in stopping the barbarians...locals had to take up their own local defense or suffer the predations of the invading hordes...Also, watch for USE of “our barbarians” to enforce the will of the elites in DC...

I have a company car and it’s been broken into a few times and I have to go to the police station to file a report for insurance reasons. One of the questions on the report I have to fill out for my company is “badge number” of police officer. Every time I ask that question the desk cop looks like he’s gonna punch me in the face. A couple have actually gotten verbally upset.

My wife is living in a Minneapolis suburb while on temporary assignment for her employer. When moving her into her apartment...which is by no means cheap or in a bad neighborhood... I thought I was in the third world and half expected to see people to be carrying live chickens by the feet. I fear for her safety anyplace in the Twin Cities, but especially anywhere near downtown. Thanks to years of political correctness and liberal social policies Minneapolis is turning into a hell hole.

I’d have her get a permit to carry.

IIRC, you can take the UT one and it’s good in the most states .(reciprocity)

good in far more states than the MN one is.

Well, maybe “most FReepers” want them to arrest this flash mob, too - you know, do their job?

Too bad the couple didn’t bring their dog - the police couldn’t have gotten out the door fast enough to shoot it.

He knew the solution, but he didn’t use it.

Police are most responsive in two circumstances: “policeman down”, and “rape in progress”. If you absolutely, positively must have police there now, this is what you tell them on the phone.

Which is why concealed carry is more important than ever.

Police claim violent crime keeps going down every year from 5-15% and now you know why. Generally the cops are eithe rnot taking report or discouraging people from making reports. If the victim in this case had not come back the next morning there would be no record of this happening. As it is, the cops shrugged it off.

I used to say that the cops won’t protect you, they will just write the report but now it looks like they don’t even write the reports.
