Sarah Palin: I am still considering running for president

The State Column | Staff | Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Wednesday that she remains interested in seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination even as a recent poll shows a vast majority of Republican voters oppose her candidacy.

“I think people are still going to be coming and going because there is still time, and I’m still one of those still considering,” Ms. Palin said during an appearance on Fox News. “There is still time…And I think on both sides of the aisle, you’re going to see people coming and going in this race.”

Ms. Palin, who has repeatedly hinted at a potential run for president, said earlier this year that she is likely to announce her decision at the end of the month. A number of political analysts have questioned whether the former Alaska governor will enter the race.

Ms. Palin’s comment comes as a McClatchy poll reported that 72 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Republican or Republican-leaning independents do not want the former vice presidential nominee to run for president in 2012. Just 24 percent said they support the idea of a Palin presidential bid.

Speaking Wednesday, Ms. Palin said she remains confident that the current field of Republican presidential candidates can defeat President Obama in the November general election.

“We need to change the entire game plan. And we need to change the entire team that’s been there at White House doing such great damage to our economy,” the former Alaska governor said. “We need to make sure that we have the best and most qualified. The most vetted candidate to come forth and rise to the surface after this primary process.”

The only way she can win the nomination is to outwit and outmaneuver the GOP ruling class.

When she strikes, it's going to be fast.

Mitt Perry ain't gonna know what hit him.

Newt and Santorum were fired by FoxNews when they hinted at running for the presidency, and before they announced.

Will FoxNews fire Palin tomorrow, or is she just in it for the money?

Seems to me she said it Tuesday, not Wednesday...

She said she’d make up her mind by September, so she only has a few days left.

If she doesn’t, Rick Perry will fill her shoes... he just won’t look as good in them.

She is supporting herself, not on food stamp. I don’t understand why people are against gainful employment?

Nothing says “follow me into battle” like quitting a governorship after 2 years in office, and then having reality TV shows to the point that a hair salon owned by Palin gets its own show.

Palin’s salary from Murdoch doesn't concern me.

The treatment Santorum and Gingrich got from Murdoch after floating trial balloons does, though.

If Palin is considering running, I call on her to quit her job as a paid member of the media tonight.

Will she? I doubt it. She's making a great living now, and she doesn't even need to make a stance on anything that can be questioned as a member of the media.

Well, what is taking her so long to make up her mind? She’s taking longer than Obama did to come up with a “Jobs” Plan. (Albeit, his jobs plan sucks.)

Yep, that's what she said in Iowa. We will know in 9 days I guess.

I recently read that she would decide in Sept., or early Oct..

She seems to be still deciding, probably based on the polls.

You know, one of these days, you're going to get yourself in hot water with the boss for lying like that.

Newt and Santorum weren't "fired" by Fox News for merely hinting that they were interested in pursuing a presidential bid. Their contracts were automatically suspended the day they filed papers to run. It was in their contracts, just as it's in Sarah Palin's.

And for the record, I wish you'd quit posting all of your stupid PDS talking points and just come right out and say that you hate Sarah Palin. It comes through loud and clear anyway.

What did she ever do to you anyway? She pop you in the lip or something? Geeeez.......
