Sarah Palin: I am still considering running for president

The State Column | Staff | Wednesday, September 21, 2011

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin said Wednesday that she remains interested in seeking the 2012 Republican presidential nomination even as a recent poll shows a vast majority of Republican voters oppose her candidacy.

“I think people are still going to be coming and going because there is still time, and I’m still one of those still considering,” Ms. Palin said during an appearance on Fox News. “There is still time…And I think on both sides of the aisle, you’re going to see people coming and going in this race.”

Ms. Palin, who has repeatedly hinted at a potential run for president, said earlier this year that she is likely to announce her decision at the end of the month. A number of political analysts have questioned whether the former Alaska governor will enter the race.

Ms. Palin’s comment comes as a McClatchy poll reported that 72 percent of respondents who identified themselves as Republican or Republican-leaning independents do not want the former vice presidential nominee to run for president in 2012. Just 24 percent said they support the idea of a Palin presidential bid.

Speaking Wednesday, Ms. Palin said she remains confident that the current field of Republican presidential candidates can defeat President Obama in the November general election.

“We need to change the entire game plan. And we need to change the entire team that’s been there at White House doing such great damage to our economy,” the former Alaska governor said. “We need to make sure that we have the best and most qualified. The most vetted candidate to come forth and rise to the surface after this primary process.”

[Nothing says “follow me into battle” like quitting a governorship after 2 years in office, and then having reality TV shows to the point that a hair salon owned by Palin gets its own show.]

I hear the reality hair show’s first guest will be Rick Perry. You know Carling, you are just a nasty piece of work. One of the reasons I am shying away from Perry is because of machine operatives like you. Crony politics at its worst.

Me, too.

Rick Perry looks better at every debate. The ads he is running about President Zero are great. He calls Zero’s plans to give Palestine it’s own state “naive and arrogant.”

Let the pretty poodle stay on the porch.

She can’t get down with the Big Dogs.

It probably is a good strategy - it worked for Reagan.

I wonder if any more will drop out, besides Pawlenty, BEFORE she decides/declares.

He doesn’t like Palin, or any of them, simply because they are not Perry.

Oh.....so he's mad at Sarah for taking attention away from the object of his affections. I see...

[Perry supporters are a lot like Ron Paul supporters.]

And I’m beginning to have a big problem with that. They have the smell on their clothes of crony politics.

Des Moines, Iowa – Sarah Palin dropped by the Iowa State Fair Friday — ahem, coincidentally, on the day that most of the other DECLARED candidates were speaking — to say that….drumroll….she hasn’t decided yet whether to run for President.

But she says she will decide by September. “Practically speaking,” Palin said Friday just outside the hog barn, “it has to be.”

“I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along. Asking supporters ‘Oh, don’t jump in there on somebody else’s bandwagon because I may jump in. So hold off a little bit.’ That’s not fair to them after another month or two,” Palin said as she toured the fairgrounds with her husband, Todd…and nine million reporters.

Now it looks like she is moving the goal posts and going back on her word.

Palin May Not Decide on Running ‘Til After Sept. 30

http://www.newsmax.com/InsideCover/Palin-President-Hannity-Obama/2011/09/21/id/411850

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin may not stick to the Sept. 30 timetable she previously mentioned for making her decision as to whether she’ll join the Republican presidential race.

During an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show Tuesday, Palin said, “There is still time Sean, and I think on both sides of the aisle you’re going to see people coming and going from this race.

“In the Republican race, in this primary, I think people are still going to be coming and going, because there is still time. And I’m one of those still considering the time factor . . . This is going to be such an unconventional election cycle.”

Asked whether she needs to make a decision by November, Palin responded, “Legally you do, because you have start getting your ducks lined up to have your name on these ballots.”

Well, I wouldn’t go that far, but I’ve noticed the Perrybots can dish it out, but sure can’t take it (as the saying goes).

I get so tired of the polls showing that 70 percent of the Republicans (or whatever the percentage is) don’t want her to run. The reasons are blatantly obvious:

(1) there are 9 or 10 current GOP candidates for the nomination, so GOP loyalties are going to be distributed across all the candidates

(2) if you are a Romulen or Perrywinkle or anyone else, you naturally don’t want a dynamo like Sarah Palin take over the field (which she will do)

she gains nothing in participating in answering inane questions in inane debates,

If she can't handle the debates then forget about it! What would people say if Perry or Mitt or Obama skipped the debates?

Reagan didn’t announce until November.

Sarah is no Reagan. She doesn't have the experienced campaign staff, the established fund-raising machine or nearly the public support that Reagan had. Prior to Reagan announcing, he was already in the lead for the GOP nomination in the polls, was well known, and was generally well-liked by GOP voters. Sarah is well known, but more than half of GOP voters say they don't want her to run in several recent polls. She would have a lot of made-up minds to change, and she is running out of time to do it.

Sooo...was the statement about announcing later on, was it made earlier or later than the November statement? I’m a little confused. Is there a reason that she can’t change her mind? You were talking shit in the first post, it looks like. If the statement that she might announce later came AFTER the one she made that said probably September, why would you insinuate she lied, instead of had a change of mind?
You said: “She said she’d make up her mind by September, so she only has a few days left.”

She even explained the change of thinking by saying ““In the Republican race, in this primary, I think people are still going to be coming and going, because there is still time. And I’m one of those still considering the time factor . . .

“This is going to be such an unconventional election cycle.”

She also made a subsequent remark in which she clarified. Why would you mislead people, just for shits and giggles? I mean, you knew she made a later statement, right?

I don’t get why people have to screw with the truth here about nominations made or unmade, or announcements to run.

It’s just plain stupid.

She changed her mind AHHHHHHHH HA!

“What would people say if Perry or Mitt or Obama skipped the debates?”

They said nothing when Reagan didn’t debate BEFORE he declared.

Palin has a history of being a great debater in Alaska, and look how well she did with Biden.
