End of DADT paves way for new discrimination
http://www.stripes.com ^ | September 22, 2011 | ByAlexander F.C. Webster

On Sept. 20, 2011, a date that will live in infamy, the U.S. armed forces were deliberately and successfully attacked by advocates of the scourge of homosexuality. The elimination of the last vestige of moral restraint on sexual perversion in the U.S. military, commonly known as the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy, ushers in a new Orwellian era in which the military leadership of our nation will proclaim the unnatural as natural, the unhealthy as healthy and the immoral as moral.

On Aug. 25, 2010, before the DADT policy was rescinded by Congress and the current president of the United States, I wrote the following in a guest column in Stars and Stripes (“Chaplains in no-win situation on ‘don’t ask’ ”): “A ‘nondiscrimination’ policy would surely mutate into approval and celebration of the ‘gay’ lifestyle, followed by ‘affirmative action’ recruitment of homosexuals, politically correct ideological indoctrination throughout the armed forces including family members, and, finally, active discrimination against — and persecution of — those who dare to express a dissenting opinion.”

Perhaps in another year or so we shall know with certainty whether that prediction was exaggerated or prescient. However, several portents of the latter prospect are already evident.

Wasting no time, U.S. Marine Corps recruiters accepted an invitation from the executive director of a “gay rights” center in Tulsa, Okla., to “celebrate” the end of DADT on Sept. 20 by setting up a recruitment booth near the center’s AIDS quilt. The New York Times reported that the USMC was “the only one of five invited branches of the military to turn up with their recruiting table and chin-up bar”. That gives new meaning to the Corps leading the way.

Last April, still five months shy of the mandated expiration of DADT, the U.S. Navy chief of chaplains, Rear Adm. Mark Tidd, publicly embarrassed himself and his Chaplains Corps when he proactively paved the way for homosexual weddings by U.S. Navy chaplains in certain U.S. Navy chapels. In a memo dated April 13, Chaplain Tidd announced: “Consistent with the tenets of his or her religious organization, a chaplain may officiate a same-sex, civil marriage: if it is conducted in accordance with a state that permits same-sex marriage or union; and if that chaplain is, according to the applicable state and local laws, otherwise fully certified to officiate that state’s marriages.”

He also gave the green light for Navy chapels to be the venue “if the base is located in a state where same-sex marriage is legal”.

What the admiral and his legal advisers somehow overlooked was the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act, which does not countenance such faux “weddings” in lieu of marriage between one man and one woman. Since Navy bases fall under Title 10 of the U.S. Code and are federal territory, the admiral, in his eagerness to accommodate a sexual minority, was effectively authorizing a violation of federal law. Four weeks later, after a storm of protest across the nation, particularly some 63 outraged members of the U.S. House of Representatives, the admiral ordered a right full rudder reverse starboard, changed course, and suspended his directive “pending additional legal and policy review.”

Most ominous, however, was the punishment that a military chaplain had to endure as long ago as March, fully six months before the official commencement of the new post-DADT era. That chaplain’s endorser — that is, the religious authority who approves clergy of a particular faith group or denomination for military service — informed me on background that the eager minister’s orders for an assignment in Germany were suspended by the service component’s Chief of Chaplains office, and that the minister would have to be “supervised closely.” Why? The young chaplain had forwarded an email opposed to repeal of DADT and to homosexuality on moral grounds.

There we have the first punitive action, to my knowledge, against conscientious chaplains who dare to dissent from the new ideological groupthink that has captured the minds of the American military leadership. If my prediction last year proves correct, I fear that chaplain’s fate will be suffered by many.

As an Orthodox priest who still loves all of the troops I served as a chaplain for a quarter of a century, I pray that God the Holy Trinity will preserve and protect the U.S. armed forces — especially in this new Dark Age.

Father Alexander F.C. Webster, an archpriest in the Orthodox Church in America, retired in June 2010 as an Army Reserve chaplain at the rank of colonel after more than 24 years of military service. He is the author or co-author of four books on topics of social ethics, including “The Virtue of War: Reclaiming the Classic Christian Traditions East and West.”

And I think we have a winner...

“and you will be as gods, knowing good and evil”

“knowing” meaning “defining for yourselves”.

There is no support for open homosexuality in uniform. Never has been. I don’t know where you got that idea from. I know that the GOP once they have the House, the Senate, and the Presidency will indeed reinstitute something that will be even stronger and more definitive than DADT.

Yep but that poll is bogus though it did point out that when asked if people believe homosexuals should serve openly in the military only 44% support allowing them to serve ‘openly’. It’s all about the how the question is asked. And if you polled “Do you believe that homosexuals should be able to promote Gay Pride during service while in Uniform?” I guarantee the poll would be overwhelming against.

The same if you asked “Do you believe homosexuals should be actively recruited for military service at gay pride events?”

The only thing that people support and its largely because of ignorence and a conservative media deriliction of duty is that a person who is gay serving in the military in the same capacity as any other normal heterosexual person. They most certainly don’t the gay pride movement or what is gay activists would call ‘open homosexuality’ in the military.

This issue is easy to turn around and should go hand and hand with the marriage issue because the military is a cultural bastain that has been resistent to the conquest of the left and the repeal of DADT just gives the left one more tool to whittle away at another institution that happens to favor conservatism. The key is not to focus on whether they should serve but on the conduct and making sure that military can not apply political correctness to religious/conservative soldiers who disagree.

The left think they have won here but they haven’t no more than they have with Hate crimes legistlation. If anything it has made it harder to convict in some cases because it forces more focus on the abiguities of intent and motivation rather on simply was someone assaulted or killed.
Not that I think these ideas are harmful just sometimes one loses by winning.

Mark my words post 2012 you will see stories about how DADT never really went away at all. Also there are higher ups in the military biding their time to clean out the leftist scum that have infested the command hierarchy and the failures in Afganistan will give them perfect excuses. ;-)

I know exactly why, Mr.B.
Homosexuality is the best way by which to attack the military and the churches. Demanding that we accept it goes against Christian and Orthodox Judaic principles and the written Word, and destroys the morale and cohesion of our soldiers and sailors. That’s two, down.

The third of our great traditions in this country is the family. They used “free” money and the education system to destroy those.

The homosexual agenda is NOT a legitimate cause. The left actually uses the homosexual agenda as well as pushes other immoral behaviors as “rights” in order to destroy our freedom. Ever read the list of communist goals? DJMacWoW has a link to a great documentary that explains how communism/leftists have influenced our country to its great detriment. DJ, if you get to it maybe you could post that link again.

If Turing had not picked up a youth for a casual sodomy encounter, he would not have been arrested and all the rest. IOW, if he had not succumbed to his temptation, he would not have gotten into trouble. The problem was not that homosexuality was considered wrong, the problem was that he gave in to his desires to have sex with a strange young man.

Well, some of us would think that being convicted and being fired from your job for a private “sodomy encounter” is rather harsh.

And I’m starting to wonder if the “Communist Goals” were not themselves semi-propaganda.

Homosexuality is only ONE of the tools that marxists are using to destroy America from within. This documentary shows the progression of marxism and who is using it.

Agenda - Grinding America Down

Turing had government clearance and proved he couldn't be trusted. The man that he picked up robbed his house. The wikileaks soldier is also homosexual. See a pattern?

And I’m starting to wonder if the “Communist Goals” were not themselves semi-propaganda.

They aren't. They are very real.

America is like a healthy body and its resistance is threefold: its patriotism, its morality, and its spiritual life. If we can undermine these three areas, America will collapse from within. - Joseph Stalin

"Socialism is precisely the religion that must overwhelm Christianity. … In the new order, Socialism will triumph by first capturing the culture via infiltration of schools, universities, churches and the media by transforming the consciousness of society." Antonio Gramsci - Marxist - teacher of Saul Alinsky

In Gramcis quote he said the new order will overwhelm Christianity by infiltration of "of schools, universities, churches and the media". And that is EXACTLY what is happening.

Debate on gays is writ large - 2 area churches use billboards for competing messages

Lynn Braun, chair of Central UMC's lead team said - "I think people have the right to express their faith the way they see fit,and I think it helps the community to know where churches stand."

So now you can interpret the Bible anyway that you want. The message is that it is no longer a book of absolutes. Both Stalin and Gramsci knew they had to destroy morality in order to destroy the Republic.

Sam Adams also knew that - "No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders."

And what about the chemical castration he was forced to undergo in preference to prison?

What pattern? There’s plenty of straight soldiers who have been Court Martial-ed, and plenty of gay soldiers who have served honorably under DADT.

At this point, the damage seems to be mostly self-inflicted. Is there evidence to show that Stalin/Gramsci weren’t just jumping in front of the parade?

Thanks, DJ. I had a long hard day of canning (actually several) and am barely human today...

MT, did you actually watch that video? I highly recommend it. It’s excellent in its historical view of exactly what is being discussed here - the malignant influence of leftist philosophy and belief systems. I’m pinging savagesusie beacuse she has done a lot of study in this field and if she has time, her comments are always very edifying and cogent.

(The only tiny disagreement I have with the documentary is that Communists have made war on every religion, depending on the country, save Islam. They’ve killed Buddhists (Tibet), Hindus (India), Jews (Europe - Nazi means “National Socialist”) as well as Christians.)

Didn't watch the video, did you.

There have always been sodomy laws. Homosexuals are emotional and lack good judgment. Sodomy laws were not struck down in this country until the 70's. You know, when the communist backed Hippies started their garbage after the "Peace and Free Love" drugged up 60's.

Homosexuality is a marxist fostered mental illness. You need to do the research and drop the emotional reaction in favor of facts.

In the last few days a lot of pro-homosexuals in the miltiary people have been making their comments. As we know flowerplough got banned already. I suspect more will. They’re trying to be stealthy about it.

There is one and perhaps two on this thread, just for the record:

Psalm 127 1,2 "Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain.

The military is the watchman and as this country turns away from God, our activities are becoming as vain as Sodom's.
