In FL Straw Poll, a Late Surge for Herman Cain (more Perry debate fallout)
The Washington Examiner ^ | Saturday, September 24, 2011 | Byron York

ORLANDO -- There's no scientific polling, but talks with dozens of delegates who will vote in today's Florida straw poll suggest that many are making last-minute decisions to vote for Herman Cain.

What seems to be happening is this: A lot of delegates came to Orlando planning to vote for Rick Perry. But Perry's poor performance at Thursday night's Fox News-Google debate gave them pause and re-opened the question of whom they will support. And many of the conservatives who were attracted to Perry will, when asked for a second choice, naturally gravitate to Cain, who, it just happens, had a particularly good debate on Thursday. So with Perry not commanding the loyalty he did just 48 hours ago, Cain appears to be picking up support.

>>> Lack of experience in government and politics.

Anybody can gain “experience” as an elected executive.
Obama himself can now legitimately claim the “experience” you tout as so important.

Not everybody can claim executive experience that saves a multi-million corporation from bankruptcy.

>>> Lack of knowledge or record regarding non-economic issues.

Such as???

It indicates to me he had wonderful, wonderful parents.

Agreed. He definitely comes from good stock.

While I am still a Sarah supporter, I have gradually changed my mind about Cain. I think he would be an excellent VP for her, or if she chooses not to run, an excellent Republican nominee for president.

He seems strong, capable, intelligent, and worthy of trust.

"nothing, I love Cain, but he polls really low for some reason."

The "some reason" is that conservatives out in voter-land are still sitting around waiting for the "buzz" coming from the/any MSM. Doesn't matter which MSM outlet it comes from, just a good word from the "wizards of smart," telling the little folk which candidate has the gusto to beat Obama.

The gusto it takes to beat Obama is whomever we, the voters would believe would best serve as Prez.

As much as "we the people" dislike politicians, especially the professional ones, we believe that no one that has not spent decades wheelin' and dealin' in government deals, they're not good enough for our votes.

What our founders envisioned were "citizen legislators" not professional politicians who spent years making backroom deals, taking midnight votes, agreeing to special tax breaks for multi-million corporations - which don't favor US, they're NOT good enough, smart enough, savy enough, experienced to serve as Prez.

As Herman says, you've had that for years, "How's that workin' out for you?"

Indeed, how IS this working out for America??????

I say it's time to turn back the clock, time to find an honest guy/gal with guts enough to stand up to the "special interests (how do they become 'special interests' - some politicians give them favors)" and say NO, not only no but HELL NO!

If "all men(humans) are created equal" in the sight of God, why aren't we "created equal" in the sight of Washington?

For all of those who love Romney and think the debates show he is our best candidate, I have to say that IMHO debating well does not a good president make. We have ample, if not daily, example of this. Romney is backing out of more things than he is supporting as far as small government, tea party ideals, family issues, etc. He seems to think that just denying things, whether true, or not, is enough to get the hounds off his tail. Well, I am glad that many writers are pointing out the obvious, that he may seem cool and collected in the Republican debates but he will fail at any debate with Obama. Obama will be able to show how much alike the two are and the Republicans will stay home on election day rather than vote for a white Obama.

Herman Cain is something the liberal media just can’t tolerate...a Black man, who’s left the liberal plantation and who thinks for himself.

Let’s back off a bit. Perry is not a Rino and Cain is great. If Perry comes out of the next debates with some redemption I would hope he and Cain would team up on Romney. It’s clear Bachman and Santorum are after Perry not Romney and Perry was the only one to mention Cain as a vp. Cain/perry Perry/Cain is good any way you slice it. Right now I back perry but if he falters Cain is my next choice.’

What are Cain’s negatives?

He's a pizza salesman.

Obama is the reason.

He has poisoned the well.<

Herman Cain is so far away from Barack Obama it’s laughable. So what if Obama is black (well, 1/2 of him is)? Really, so what? Herman Cain is a good conservative and he would certainly be a heck of a better President than would Romney.

I live in Texas and I do not like Perry. (Might have something to do with the fact that I have a daughter.... and I own land...)

In his last election, we had to chose between Perry, KBH (Washington RINO) or a 9-11 truther. Not much of a choice.

If perry wins the nomination, I’ll be writing in Cain in the Primary. (... as it stands now. There’s still time for him to say something insane.)

I held my nose for McCain. I’m not holding doing it again. I’ll no longer be forced to chose between the lesser of two evils.

Cains support may “surge” from 1 to 2% As a 30+ vet of GOP politics, I got some news for you. Your god Perry is done. GOP voters do NOT like empty suits who spend all their time trashing their own side like your boy did the other night.

I agree with you. I also think it’s a signal that people are still hoping for another true conservative to enter the race. I hope it will be soon.

I love Herman Cain.

I'm with you. He's the "Real Deal" and can be trusted.

I believe the polls are for steering the sheep.

Total nonsense. With even Paul pulling with single digits of 0 any GOP candidate can win. This Establishment bot dogma of "electability" is pure stupid nonsense designed to per select the GOP candidate for us. At this point in 2007 McCain was one one of the bottom 3 in every single poll. The notion that GOP voters should decide who to vote for based on polls is a media manufactured propaganda tool that Conservative had better wake up to. The Junk media wants to per-select the candidates. YOU are helping them with your baseless "he cannot win" propaganda.

Quit it. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem

Yesterday I went to Cpac. I met ron Paul and Cain there. As I left I had an Epiphany. NO to Romney. No to perry. Its Cain. He is NOT political. He is ABSOLUTELY capable of debating obama. He is a breath of fresh air, honest. If we can get him on the ticket. No more Romney’s no more Perry’s. Please start sending him $$. I don’t have much but I plan on sending him what I can. He needs more airtime!!! The more I hear him the more I love him. There is an Old YouTube out there where he wins a debate with bill Clinton at a town hall meeting. He had Clinton all flustered when he rattled off all types statistics.

Stop with Romney and Perry. Our candidate is right there in front of us. It is Cain. He is honest non political in otherwords a breath of fresh air. He can and will beat Obama if only we could stop focusing on Perry Romney. The media is electing our candidate again!! Until we start screaming our heads off, He will not get air time. They are setting us up to lose again. They chose McCain. Never again. Start writing and emailing. Get him out front. I don’t want any more of these talking heads. I want someone who us going to fix the problems. Cain has a business model which is outstanding. You can see his solutions aren’t poltical. He honestly has a plan that will work. Right, because he continues to win straw polls and polls of likely republican voters. He also placed 3rd in Zogby and is surging after the debate. But hey, make fun of a man who is running at 5% in polls that ask “adults” who they choose...not likely voters. Go Cain!
