Mitt Romney turns formidable
Mlive.com ^ | Sept. 25, 2011 | Matt Miller

"But the real question is: Does Governor Perry continue to believe that Social Security should not be a federal program, that it's unconstitutional and it should be returned to the states, or is he going to retreat from that view?"

In other words: Is my opponent an extremist who'd lead the party to ruin or a weasel who can't stand by his guns?

On the Texas economy, Romney said, "I think Governor Perry would agree with me that if you’re dealt four aces, that doesn't make you necessarily a great poker player."

Earlier Romney had sounded the same note, saying that Perry surely wouldn't take credit for Texas for having (1) no income tax; (2) lax union protections; (3) oil and gas in the ground; and (4) a Republican legislature. That would be like Al Gore taking credit for inventing the Internet, he joked.

>> The only hope this country has is a true conservative who is willing to secure the border and enforce the immigration laws. “ <<<

You do realize that congress makes the laws, or used to, in only in the legislative branch and not by presidential fiat? Rick will be hell on wheels on border security, immigration law enforcement and deportation rules enforcement of the bad guys and the wholesale invasion of system breakers. Perry is the JOBS man that Obama and his Republican opponents must take out, with that record of his on JOBS, especially when the mood of the national electorate is turned solely to JOBS, and Perry does DO JOBS in a JOBS atmosphere. AND takes the Hispanic vote from Obama as an encore.

Lay off the Koolaid, Rita.

Perry’s record shows he will not be tough on border security or enforcement, in fact the opposite is true.

AFA, Jobs, TX unemployment isn’t bad, but it is far worse than other states.

You are right that he will get the illegal alien vote, but naturalized and legal Hispanics generally hate illegals too.

Romney is the end of the GOP.

Understood.

Like I’ve posted ‘x’ times, Perry isn’t perfect, not even close. But compared to Romney, he’s far, far superior.

If Perry hadn’t been so stupid, he might have kept my support. No dice, and I don’t buy its Perry or Romney thing either. I’ve heard that before with other candidates and it didn’t pan out.

He’s sucked ass in the debates, no doubt. If that’s his best, he’s really done.

Will someone else, who can win in the general election, step up? Hopefully!

If not, and it’s Perry v. Romney, I go with Perry every day of the week.

It’s too bad Newt has the same amount of baggage as an average airport, because from what I have watched and read, he’s performed the best in the debates.

The problem is far too many people in the party buy the MSM lines of who is the frontrunner and who can win.

The base is pissed off, this is the perfect oppportunity to get a real conservative (like Cain, Bachmann, hell even Santorum or Newt - although I still have issues with Newt) in. This will be our LAST CHANCE for 20 years if we go with a ‘RINO’.

For all the crying about Cain not being ‘electable’, newsflash, he is a lot more electable than either Perry or Romney.

And if the debates weren’t Perry’s best? Then he is done anyway because his heart isn’t in it. Just like Fred Thompson last time.

So you know what people should eat?

No I don't and I wouldn't know what you do or don't eat if you hadn't injected that information into your argument. I do however know a few vegetarians that condemn other people for what they eat.

So you will vote for Palin then?

Your man stepped in it big time instead of letting it go and see if he can recover you just compound the problem for him.

By the way, most people I knew growing up in the early 40's were vegetarian but not by choice.

“So you will vote for Palin then?”

Yes! The only Republican I would NOT vote for is Romney. And that includes Ron Paul and Gary Johnson.

Perry is not “my man”, rather I look at him as someone that’s not Romney that COULD win a general election. He’s far from perfect, but worlds better than Romney or his brother in arms, Obama.

RomneyCare is an unforgivable sin.

“Go ahead, keep bashing Perry, go down in history that conservatives helped Romney be the nominee and helped re-elect Obama.”

An ironic post from someone that spends a good deal of her time infecting Palin threads bashing with all her might.

According to poll numbers, Romney is not a serious threat. I don’t know anyone who has a good word to say about him except a few mediots.
